"Poisonous?" He knew a lot about poisonous plants, so maybe he should start with something he knows. Rose walked over with a light smile, joining the talking phonies. "Hey there. So potatoes can be related to night shade? Interesting. My name is Rosewrite. I've been collecting information on plants in my book here." With his hoof he pointed to his saddle bags before taking out his growing encyclopedia. Flipping open to a page about potatoes to fill in some information. It was filled with pictures and information, most pages even had poems, but he hadn't been able to come up with a poem for potatoes.

Two plant lovers in the same place?! What were the odds of that? Surrender felt a little like the third wheel now, because he had no idea what the other two were talking about. He wanted to tell Taters that he'd love to go out hiking with her (because she could keep him safe), but he didn't want to say it in front of another foal.
He looked at Rosewrite, "Wow! You're book looks really great also! How nice of you to share it with us!" He smiled while secretly wishing he knew anything about the subject so he could impress others in turn.

Taters was extremely impressed by Rosewrite's book. It looked like he knew a lot about all kinds of plants, whether you could eat them or not! "Hi, Rosewrite! I'm Po-TAY-Toes, and this is Sweet Surrender. Call me Taters, everybody does! So you write about plants? Neato! What's your favorite? She looked over his shoulder at the information about potatoes and the pictures. They were really great. "Dang, Sweets," she said to her friend. "Check this out!" His book was phenomenally illustrated, making the sketches in her own notes look like technical drawings. "Rosewrite, you can really draw! What's your favorite plant?"

He looked over his friend's shoulders as she flipped though Rosewrite's book. It really was impressive. He would love to look at it closer just to see the pictures and read the poems. Roots were still too terrifying to him to try to learn about them.
Sweet Surrender did not have a favorite plant. Not that he knew of at least, he hadn't given it any thought. He didn't want to be let out of the conversation though, so he blurted, "I LOVE COCONUTS."
Meep.

(OH no *Swoon* I didn't mean to make Sweet feel awkward. u .u)
Rose gave another small smile, glad to of meet the two and no longer awkwardly walking around. He was glad there was another plant lover around, but the other one did not seem as interested... "Taters, and Sweet Surrender. It's a pleasure to meet you two." He nodded as he started to flip through his book for Po-Tay-Toes. "Hmm, my favorite? I really like flowers, so Roses are always one of my faves.... but then I'm a big fan of herbs." He nodded looking over to Sweet. "Coconuts?" He gave a small laugh. "Yeah those are pretty yummy."

Taters nodded happily. "Potatoes and herbs taste pretty great together! You take rosemary and garlic and you chop them up and you put them on a big baked potato with melted butter and sour cream and it's just the bee's knees! Plants that you can eat are just the best. I like coconuts, too!" It was true; she liked them toasted and flaked onto ice cream the best, although making a pie out of them was also pretty great. "Y'know, I once read that coconuts kill about a hundred and fifty people each year- more than shark attacks and lightning- because they fall off the trees while people are underneath. Hard to believe that something so delicious is so deadly! Isn't that a cool fact? Is that in your book, Rosewrite?"

She just ruined coconuts for him.
Now he could never walk under a palm tree again.
Sweet Surrender made a grumpy face. Learning things was not his thing. At this moment, he for sure felt better being oblivious about the world. While he was laying there choking on water hemlock, a coconut was going to sweep down from the sky and make him double dead.
"Thanks for sharing with me, guys, but I think I'm going to go and explore one of the more safe occupations here." He waved at them, and left the pair to their deadly plant collections.((Don't worry! XD EVERYONE makes Sweet uncomfortable.))

"Ok!" Taters said, oblivious to what she'd just done. "Have fun, Sweets! Maybe my brother can help you out?" She gave the earth foal one more big hug before letting him leave, then turned back to Rosewrite and his awesome book. "Thanks for hanging out with us!"

"Yeah it is actually." He skimmed to that page, and then pointed the the very bottom, stared and everything. His head then tilted at the Sweet's grumpy face. Was he okay? Oh, he was leaving? Rose felt kind of bad about gushing over plants with Taters now. Wasn't today about learning new talents? His little tail gave a flick as he watched Sweet walked off to find something 'safer'.

"Don't worry about him," Taters said as Sweet Surrender wandered off. "He's kinda timid. I think he worries too much. He's super sweet and nice once you get to know him, though. And who knows, maybe if he tells everyone that plants are dangerous, more phonies will be interested in learning about them- danger adds a cool factor to everything, don'tchaknow." She scooted closer to the book to take a look. "It really is nice of you to share this!"

He nodded with a small smile. "Yeah I guess your right." He thought about his siblings. His sister might be interested in the danger aspect, but his poor brother would only worry about him if he mentioned how dangerous it was. "Thanks. I already have another book at home filled up, but I wanted to take my wip one here in case I learned anything. So you said you guys have a guide book as well, where you learn all your stuff?"

Jasmine looked up at the talk of plants, calmly listening as they spoke of edible plants and their others uses. She wanted so to share in her knowledge of plants, after all tea was made with plants. But she was so shy she was afraid to interrupt. She smiled at Sweet then to the others and waved a bit, "If you'd like to learn about some good things plants can be used for other than for eating you are welcome to sit on my blanket."
She poured some more cups of tea then set out some plates of red bean buns. Her bright blue eyes looked to the other fillies and colts. "I make my tea with plants based on their taste, scent, and how they can make you feel. Some are sweet smelling, light tasting, and make you feel calm and relaxed like Lavender or Rose tea. Some help you sleep like chamomile. Others give you energy and inspiration like Catnip or Earl Grey." She brushed a lock of white hair from her face before continuing.
"I also add flowers to my tea leave when drying them. Some add flavor, others add scent. Sometimes I use oils from fruits and nuts to add flavor as well," she giggled, "Plants have so many uses!"

"Yeah, I used a field guide starting out. It gave the basic information- a picture of the plant and where it's found- and whether or not it's toxic. But it was photographs- nothing as artsy and cool as your book!" Taters was about to start in on different field guides when the unicorn filly nearby offered them a spot on her blanket. "Let's go over there and listen!" she said, hastily grabbing her things and beckoning to Rosewrite. The girl- she'd been so quiet, she hadn't hear her name- had been talking to a blue colt earlier, but now it seemed like she'd come out of her shell just a bit. This was good, especially if she wanted to talk about plants. Plopping herself down, she helped herself to a bun and a teacup and sat quietly to listen. She wasn't a big tea drinker, but the red unicorn seemed to know so much about that she was absolutely content to sit and listen and nibble on this amazing bun-thing... until the bells that marked the time started to ring.
"Oh darn! I'm supposed to be home by now! I am so sorry to interrupt, but I must be off- but- um, I'm sorry, I missed your name! Would you like to come hiking with me sometime? I know this little copse where there's a lot of wildflowers and plants with really nice scents. You might find some inspiration there! We could all go- even you, Sweets, it's super safe!" She hoped everybody would like to come. All the other foals were so nice and interesting; she wanted to befriend all of them! But the clock was chiming, and she promised she'd be home for lunch.
A thought struck her as she turned to leave. "Come on," she waved at Sweet Surrender. "Why don't you come back with me for lunch? Mom's making macaroni and cheese. There's nothing dangerous about that!"

Jasmine continued talking about tea and the plants she used. It felt nice to discuss and share information with others who enjoyed plants as much as she did. The flying filly seemed quite happy to listen, and eat the bean buns, when she suddenly jumped up and said she had to go. At first Jas was sad but the shock on her face from being invited to go hiking was evident. No one really asked her to go anywhere, she always appeared too delicate and quiet.
The filly's generosity knew no bounds as she invited a cream colt to lunch at her place. Jasmine felt inspired by the filly's boundless enthusiasm, thinking perhaps she should offer a class or something for others to learn about tea plants or even how to perform tea ceremonies. Something to have fun with and enjoy each other's company. Normally she preferred to make tea for herself or her family, occasionally her friends. But now she saw how sharing her passion could inspire others with theirs. She nodded to the filly, "Hai, I would like that. And my name is Jasmine Tea. I look forward to our hike."
