Aram had ventured from his home to do his usual rounds. He lived far enough from people that the only ones who seemed to venture this far were either lost or curious wanderers searching for who knows what out here. He on the other hand was usually searching and maintaining the local plant life. They were objects of study to him, all of which were specimens at his disposal. Some days, like today, it was enough of a relief for him to just get out and enjoy the solitude he felt in his relative seclusion.

Asteria was out and about today to go and exercise a bit. She liked telling herself she was training for when she went on an adventure later on. Most town people would think she was crazy for going to dangerous places just for the sake of her plant collection. But she thought it was worth it, and that's all that mattered. Either way, she was training in the outskirts of town.

By the time she finished running and stretching, Asteria was tired and hungry. Along her way back to her house she found a berry bush. The berries weren't ripe yet but Asteria could fix that. She bent down and pulsed her magic through the bush and willed it to ripen the berries. Asteria gathered some and noticed that this was a different variety than the ones she had at home so she decided to keep the seeds.
As she stood up, she noticed a tall man with green eyes. He had rabbit ears and a horn on top of his head. He was dressed very elegantly. 'I wonder what he's doing here dressed like that? Could he be a Witch-Eater?' Asteria looked at him nervously. What was a strange and fancy man doing in the middle of the forest? Asteria took in a deep breath and calmed herself. 'Relax! Maybe he's here on vacation? ...Or he's here to eat me! But wait, I have an advantage for once! I'm surrounded by nature and I know this area. If he tries anything funny I'll run...'
Asteria decided she should probably talk to him since he'd most likely seen her. She was starting to get the hang of socializing "successfully." 'How did it go again? Ah yes..'
"Umm h-hello? Are you umm lost? I mean you're very fancily dressed and umm you're in the middle of the forest..." Asteria wanted to dissapear now. Guess she wasn't very successful at socializing. She sounded...stupid. She should have just walked away when she had the chance.

The faintest spark of magic caused his ears to perk. It was a slight habit, but he was rather sensitive to this extra sense and very much hard to ignore given his nature. He glanced behind, catching a flicker of the girl before she approached and sheepishly addressed him. He smiled to himself, charmed by how shy the girl seemed to be with her apparent concern for him.
"No, I'm not lost." Aram replied, turning to face her. "I dress this way because I am comfortable. This is my home, after all." Though his house was not in sight, he did consider the surrounding area to be his territory and so he was rather protective of it. Not that Aram knew of any immediate reason to feel threatened at all by the locals from Clarus Arbor being the modest farmers the majority seemed to him, but there were certain others...

'Of course he's not lost! He didn't look distressed or scared.' Before she knew it, she had her hands very near her face. Asteria wanted to slap herself and she would have done it too if it hadn't been for the berries in her hands. She looked at them rather closely now. They were round and bigger than what most blueberry cultivars were like. Infact, she might have mistaken them for blueberries if it wasn't for the fact that they were purple.
'On second thought, I don't know what these are. Maybe he knows.' Asteria quickly took a breath to calm herself before continuing. "So...umm do you know what kind of berries these are? They look like blueberries but I'm not very sure. I mean....they don't look like any of the berries back at my garden. It might be poisonous but it doesn't look like any poisonous plant I own..." Asteria might have been more embarrased for her little tirade if it hadn't been for the fact she was very focused on the berries and what they might be. She was racking her brain for possibilities but came up with nothing. 'Maybe it's a new plant for me to collect?'

It seemed to him as though she'd retreated into her thoughts, though he hadn't the faintest idea about what until he saw the berries in her hand. Aram's glance flickered between her and the berries before she finally spoke up. "These are Callicarpa. They're not poisonous but they are very bitter, I warn you. They do taste good as a wine though." He explained, quite comfortable with his knowledge of this particular specimen.
His gaze lingered on the other knowing she possessed some ounce of magic within her. She certainly had the Spiritus' attention. "If you're that hungry however I suppose you won't be picky, but I don't recommend eating from nature so hastily."

Asteria looked at the berries again and decided she would keep them to plant later. Curious as to what the taste was like besides bitter, Asteria popped one of the berries inside her mouth. Sure enough it was bitter, she almost made a face, but it was also interesting. "It's not that bad, with a couple of spices and some wine this would be a good poultry stuffing."
Asteria looked up at him and slightly blushed. Normally she didn't notice the opposite gender, but now that she got a good look at the guy infront of her he seemed rather handsome. 'Is he looking at me? Oh snap I look like a mess! Wait....why am I gushing over a stranger?! He could want to eat me or something!' Asteria was nervous now, so she played with her hair and gave the man a nervous smile.
"Well umm I am rather hungry, but compared to other things I've had to eat, it's not that bad. When I go around collecting plant specimens, I eat what I can find or I grow my own....it's uh quite nice." Asteria started twiddling her fingers and looked at the ground as if it was interesting. She didn't know why she was so nervous. Was it because he was handsome or because he could be dangerous? She didn't even know his name for crying out loud! 'Maybe I should introduce myself and hope for the best?'
Asteria bit her lip and sighed "Umm I-I'm Asteria Rangecroft. Uh what's your name?" She stretched her hand out like she'd learnt to. She could've sworn it was also shaking. 'I hope he doesn't notice...'

Aram watched as she tested the berries despite his warning with a small, mischievous smile. He brushed his fingers over his mouth, mostly to hide it lest he cause her unease. Somehow seeing the tinge of heat pool in her cheeks just made it all the more entertaining as he watched her, the comment earning a soft chuckle.
The mentioning of plants served as a distraction from his own certain hunger, even if it was momentary. "Plants, you say? Do you also study such things?" This was exciting. It wasn't everyday that he had the chance to meet someone who shared the enthusiasm with him, granted that she was as into the study as he. Granting the other his name would do no harm, he thought. "Well then it's good to meet you, Asteria. My name is Aram." The Spiritus accepted the gesture without looking at her hand, though he could feel the nervousness and pulse of magic that made him linger before letting her go. "If you're really that hungry I might be able to prepare something for you. Tea and... whatever I might have." It had been a while since he had any guests, but he was no less prepared for them.

'Aram...hmm it has a nice ring.' Asteria almost turned beet red as he grabbed her hand. She snapped out of it as she remembered his earlier comment on plants.
"Oh yes! I simply adore them! I have a massive garden filled with various species ranging from the common to the rare. Some of them I've had to travel far and wide to aquire! I've also found various uses to most of them. I really do love them; there's nothing I won't do for them! Do you also love plants, Aram?" Asteria's nervousness melted away during her small speech on her precious garden. She was sure she had a huge smile on her face by now. Her body was itching to use her magic, to make something grow. She supposed it came from the excitement of talking about plants.
In her excitement, she almost missed his invitation. "Oh umm thank you for your hospitality. Lead the way; I hope I'm not causing you any trouble..." She blushed slightly and some of her nervousness creeped back into her. 'I wonder, why is he being so nice to me?'

Aram's interest was instantly piqued upon learning of her affinity for plans. He could tell from her tone of voice that she was quite knowledgeable and dedicated to her passions. There would be no harm in inviting her in, he thought.
"I do." It seemed to take her a moment to accept, but he sensed no apprehension. Asteria simply seemed excited. "It's no problem. I don't expect company often, but those who share my interests are worthy of company I think." After all, there may be info and knowledge she could share with him.
He gestured for her to follow after him, making small talk along the way concerning the local genus of flora populating the area until they reached his humble home. It's exterior was covered with vines and roots, the front door slightly ajar as he lead her inside.

Asteria followed along with an eager ear and a small blush on her cheeks. Her nervousness had started to creep back into her bit by bit but she fought it back with the excitement of meeting another plant enthusiast. However, when she saw his home her nervousness was once again driven off. She stared in awe at how the exterior was covered in roots and vines. 'I should definitely try this with my house!' As she got closer to the door however, she got closer to one of the vines to see what kind it was and how it was arranged. However, her curiosity and excitement got the best of her as she reached over to touch one of the vines. In that instant, some of her magic slipped inside the vine and caused it to grow thicker and with more leaves. Asteria jumped back a bitas she realized what had happened. Her excitement melted off as she turned red and apologized to Aram. "I-I'm sorry! I umm I couldn't help myself... It's just I was wondering how the r-roots and vines were like that... Ah I'm so s-sorry!" With that, Asteria twiddled her fingers and kept her eyes on the ground as she inched her way to the inside the house. 'He must think I'm so stupid and clumsy so as to not be able to control my magic and emotions...stupid, stupid!'
