Adrienne had been laying on one of the pews, staring blankly up at the ceiling while Talise was making him and Father Conn lunch. He looked up every now and then through the stained windows, half expecting each time to see a figure limping, against the now noon light. Though it was when the pastor mumbled while reading the Bible, which made Adrienne really on edge. It almost made him jump the first time, and each time after that he really tried to focus on relaxing.

On several occasions he thought of offering to loot some nearby houses through the woods while lunch was being made-whatever it was, Talise was making the best of what she had, because it smelled delicious-but the creaky old church felt so safe that he could not move himself to leave it now.

I guess I'll eventually tell them about Zenobia. There's bound to be stuff there that we can use, and I certainly don't need all of it to myself... Adrienne thought, watching as a dusk mote flitted through the open space. It danced and swished through the air in front of Adrienne's face until it disappeared away behind some rafters. For a second Adrienne studied the strong beams of the old church and wondered how safe it would be to hide amongst them during an attack from the dead, though his train of thought was derailed at the sound of moans coming from outside the stone walls of the gate of the church.

With a rush he sat straight up, his bright green eyes following the pastor as he ran about to the kitchen and then out the door.

"Oh no. Not here, not now." He said to himself in dread as he tumbled off of the pew, and ran to the door past the kitchen. The scene that he took in spread fear across his face. There before the gates of the stone wall was a crowd of the dead surrounding his truck.

Already Father Connor was taking a few zombies down, though he was starting to get overwhelmed. Here Adrienne surveyed the area and got an idea. He grabbed his backpack and chair leg-which he had left at the threshold of the church-, ran out the door and to the gate. He set his foot among the metal bars-the dead now trained on the pastor-, and used it once more to climb. He hoisted himself onto the bricks, and started to bang the chair leg on the wall, drawing some of the walking dead towards the wall and away from the Father. He looked around him, now able to see further around the church, and to his horror saw that even more were coming from all angles except for the east, where the road that he had come up from Zenobia was.

"Hey, I have an idea. We can drive to my old hide-out. But you have to get Talise and all your things into my truck. I'm fine here." He said to Father Conn, and with that he started to shout at the dead below him, still banging on the stone wall. If his new plan worked, they could drive away from the herd, and board themselves into the retail store with all of the supplies that he had scrounged from the store.

((OOC: Yay we're back! blaugh Now hold on a sec, did the walkers get through the gate, or did Father Connor go outside the gates? Remember that Adrienne's truck is parked right outside the gate...))

She had to admit it, this was nice. Though the kitchen was small and the supplies meager, it was still a wonderful feeling to get to cook. It would have been perfect if there was some proper meat about but that was all back at base with her group. She only took a few strip of jerky in her supplies...not much to make a meal with that kind of protein in it now was it? Still she had found enough stuff to make a simple soup and there were some rolls in her pack. May not be gourmet but it would do. In the other room she could hear the Father murmuring softly and every once in a while, when she wasn't doing anything but stirring mainly, she could make out the words. A pain of sadness rolled through her at that. Back home she wouldn't have been able to hear someone talking that softly so clearly. Even on quiet days there were always cars rolling by, children playing out in the yards, dogs barking....here there was nothing. Outside she could hear a light breeze rustling the trees making the shadows that filtered through the window dance. It was a bit depressing. How many people had lived in Black Creek? How many made it out? How many would forever wander these places? Man that was too dark for meal time pondering. With a sigh she tossed the towel she had begun to fiddle with over her shoulder. Turning she hopped lightly onto the counter facing the window. From this angle there was nothing but a large beautiful oak outside and a good chunk of the gazebo was visible. Maybe it was because it was a church, or maybe it was a false sense, but this place felt inviting, warm....safe. Sure her base was pretty decent but Talise hardly knew the people inside of it. They had picked her up, a stray like many others in this new world, and they had let her in. She wasn't fooling herself though. They probably only kept her about because she knew her way around the human body. Here though the Father didn't know what she did and Adrienne seemed like a good guy. The temptation to ask if she could stay here was great.

Talise was just about to jump off the counter and get back to work when something met her ears. Was that? No it couldn't be. Footsteps made her turn, the Father appearing in the door frame. "Lunch will have to wait," Came the surprisingly calm words. "We seem to have less than desirable company arriving." With that the Father turn and peer out another window. "I think it would be wise to try and take them all out before they find their way inside; I would hate to think of one of them wandering inside the church and staying quiet long enough for us to think we were safe." With that the Father left and Talise slid of the counter. Her stomach rolled and Talise steadied herself by putting her hands on the counter. Arms locked straight, she let her head hang as she pushed the panic down. The brunette had not killed many of them herself, in fact she only recently worked out a strategy for when she did have to face them. That didn't mean she was eager to put it into place. "Hey, I have an idea. We can drive to my old hide-out. But you have to get Talise and all your things into my truck. I'm fine here." Adrienne's voice called over the growing din of the undead and Talise grimaced. "We have to try!" Talise hollered back as she went on the attack again, this time taking out what looked like was once an elderly woman. Man if she didn't need therapy when this was all done, she would be surprised. "I doubt the Father really wants to give up his new home! The Truck can be Plan B!" To be honest it was up to the Father. If he wanted to abandon the church then she would go with them, she sure as hell wasn't staying here alone. Once the elderly Walker was out of the way Talise jumped back slightly avoiding the reaching hands of another Walker. They could do this....the three of them together? Yeah...at least she hoped they could.

"We have to try!"

Came Talise's voice from behind him. Adrienne looked up from smashing-in one of the walkers heads against the wall, where he was balancing on.

There weren't that many drawn to the wall like he had planned. Of course, why would they when there's fresh meat in front of them?, he thought. Even now only three were grasping up at him; bony hands with rotting skin, wanting so badly to grab him.

When he turned his head he saw that Talise was in the yard behind him, and was already taking down a couple of walkers of her own. He looked at her doubtfully at her statement, and then at the crowd of the undead. They were swarming the Father, making their way through the gate to Talise, and even more were filing in from the woods.

In the front yard where his truck sat abandoned by the front gate, it seemed to remain void of the walking dead. There are way too many for us, he thought to himself hopelessly, scanning the way-out with his eyes.

He was probably the least prepared out of the three for this world. He had relied, so far, on the fact that he had resources and a place that he could lock himself into. Granted he was nimble and fast, from preparation from training to be a performer on the stage, though ballet and gymnastics classes could hardly help him forever.

"I doubt the Father really wants to give up his new home! The Truck can be Plan B!"

Came Talise's voice again, and drew Adrienne's gaze back to her from the truck and the eastern road that lead to Zenobia. He nodded his head in agreement. He didn't want to leave the place himself, as it already felt homely to him, though he was nervous now that a herd was on them. In that same instant though, Adrienne first heard the sound of scraping, and then felt the hard grasp of one of the three zombies lock their bony hands on his ankle. The undead was a middle-aged man that was taller than Adrienne had expected. As he lost his balance he fell on the wall, chest-meeting-stone on the little flat surface. He hung onto the wall, refusing to let the walker tear him from his perch. The impact pushed the breath out of his lungs, and he could barely yell for help.

As his legs hung over the side of the wall, Adrienne could feel the walker's mouth pulling on his left leg. Adrienne had luckily chosen a pair of blue jeans and calf-high socks that morning from the store, planning on the material to keep out the biting cold. Though It now served as some sort of covering from the teeth of the undead. At any moment though, the other two walkers could easily rip this material apart if they joined-in on time. Thinking quickly he kicked the walker's head away from him with his free leg, shoved his hands under his torso, pushed himself up the wall again, and fell over, crashing to the ground.

He was too tired to move, everything hurt. He had landed on his side, and could see a walker-that had heard his struggling on the wall-come his way. In this world he had no time to recover from a fall, and as the moans came closer, Adrienne instinctively curled up, giving his back to the dead. Here it grabbed his pack, trying to sink it's teeth into the leather-like fabric. As Adrienne desperately looked about him, he saw the chair leg that had been serving him as a club, had fallen just a few feet in front of him where he dropped it when he fell onto the wall. Here he shimmied his way out of the backpack's straps, crawled along the stone wall away from the creature, stood quickly and retrieved the bloodied chunk of wood. He doubled back to the zombie and swung the wood hard into it's skull; at once the corpse lied limp on the grass, and Adrienne grabbed his pack. He swung the leather straps over his arms, and then rushed to join Talise.

((OOC: Adrienne's truck is in the front, outside a gate that I am assuming is locked and intact. So then we were in the front yard, but the Walkers came in through the back? sweatdrop Sorry if it's affected my posting, but I am now thoroughly turned around, haha. It just seems like we would be in the backyard if that's where the dead are coming in from...)
