Shikaru awoke early that morning to train as he did most mornings before he sat down to breakfast with his father and mother as he was still living at home. Shikamaru was looking quite old, most of the black had faded from his hair color and the wrinkles had become more evident over the last few years. His mother Temari was still quite a firecracker and Shikaru never understood how his father could stand the over bearing woman, but then again he was told he had gotten his personality from her so he never knew if he was insulting himself when he thought such things.
Shikaru ate as quickly as he could knowing he was to meet his Genin squad today. Shikaru never really thought of himself as being a teacher and was really surprised that his father had given him the position. Shikaru didn't argue with his father on the decision tho as he respected his father greatly and felt himself just a tool for his use until the day he became the head of the clan as his sister had married outside of the clan giving up her birth right to him. Shikaru knew his sister was happy tho and knew she could trust him to take care of the clan once their father retired.
The long silence in the room was finally broken by Shikamaru who had been studying his son since he had sat at the table. "You have a lot of responsibility now Shikaru... You will have the lives of three genin in your hands, its your responsibility to protect them and to teach them the way of the ninja. I thought you should know you have been placed in charge of the next generation of Ino-Shika-Cho, your niece Shikara will make up one third of the party. Perhaps you can help better motivate her as her uncle." Shikaru gave a slight wince at the hearing of Ino-Shika-Cho. The fact he was never on the same formation was deeply upsetting for him as he thought his father looked down upon him for not being in a group just like him but this was far from the truth.
Shikaru did like the fact that one of the members would be a close family member, that would at least make things a little easier for him perhaps. "Yes father, I understand. I will look after these three." Shikaru gave a slight bow from his seat before he stood up from the pillow seat he had been seated at. Having hardly ate anything as he was to nervous he made his way from the Nara manor looking up to the sky as he stepped out seeing that it was quite a sunny day with very few clouds. That was to bad Shikaru did enjoy gazing at them much like his father had. Instead he settled his gaze on the Hokage Monument high above the city, this was to be the meeting place for his team he had told his father to have his team meet him there days before when he had first found he was to have a team..
Shikaru knew he had a good hour before the group was to meet at nine o'clock. With a shrug he made his way towards the place thinking about what kind of people the other two genin would be, he pulled the mini handbook from his tool kit his father had placed this there before he left telling him it had details on his team. Looking it over now he read the two names he didn't know over and over again tell they were memorized along with the small picture provided of them as well. As he slipped the notebook back into his toolkit on the center of his back he realized he had arrived at the foot of the monument.
Jumping up as high as he could before concentrating chakara into his feet he began to run up the face of the cliff heading for the top right over the face of the second Hokage. Shikaru thought about how his team would do making it up not being able to use their chakara in this way yet. Of course there was a path to take but it was still quite a climb regardless. It wasn't long before Shikaru found himself at the top of the cliff at the grave site of the previous Hokage's. This was where he wanted to meet his team for the first time as he wanted to show them the people who had died for this village.
Shikaru stood in the center of the place awaiting the arrival of the others. It wasn't long before they each arrived and once they had he had them line up in front of him with Shikara in the center, Chozen on the right, and lnoru on the left. "Hello everyone I hope the journey up was not to bad, my name is Nara Shikaru. I am the son of the Hokage Nara Shikamaru. I have been chosen to be your Jounin instructor, so we will be spending a lot of time together so we should all get to know one another better. You three went to the academy together but I still know little about you besides you Shikara.." Shikaru looked them all over they looked confident.
"I will start us off, as I said before I am Nara Shikaru. I am twenty-seven years old, I like sweets but not vegetables. My dream is to one day become the Hokage," Shikaru turned away from the group at the moment looking to the place the Hokage's were buried. "This place is the resting grounds of the previous Hokages, all of these men and women fought to protect this village... Some of them even gave their lives for it, an honor for any Shinobi." Finishing he turned back to the group looking at Shikara flashing her a small smile. "How about you go next Shikara," Shikaru waited for her to share with them as well.

"Shikara! Hurry and get up before you're late!"
A voice from downstairs called to the young thirteen-year old female. The voice in particular came from the girl's mother: Shikaruna Nara. She was the eldest child of the Hokage, Shikamaru Nara and his wife, Sabaku no Temari. At the moment the adult was yelling at her daughter to get downstairs and prepare to leave the house. Why? Because today was an important day for the teenager. It would be her first day spent as a genin with her new team. While Shikaruna was excited for her daughter, Shikara couldn't careless. While the young Nara was "okay" with graduating from the Ninja Academy with the top grades in her class, being a ninja seemed so...troublesome. If it was her choice, she would just stay in bed all day sleeping, or just reading one of her favorite books.
Slowly opening one eye, she glared at her door and simply turned the opposite way in her bed so her back was facing the door. However it wasn't long that she heard footsteps coming closer and closer to her room and soon enough her mother barged in her room, groaning at the sight of her daughter still not even close to being prepared to leave. This was really a daily morning routine for the both of the Nara females. Dragging the petite girl from her bed, Shikarune got her into the bathroom, washed her up, carried her downstairs, gave her some breakfast, before finally pushing her out the door with Shikara landing on the ground with an "Oof."
Slowly getting herself up, the raven-haired girl brushed the dust off of her clothes and started to head to her destination: the Hokage's Monument. It was the place where her grandfather, Shikamaru Nara once stayed as his role as the Hokage. That wasn't all however. If she had to guess, the reason why the newly formed squad would be meeting there was because their sensei was the son of the Hokage, Shikaru Nara, a jounin who was also Shikara's uncle. Once she found out who her sensei would be, the teenager groaned. It wasn't because she disliked her uncle, it was more of her parents pushing her to become strong like him. Such a feat seemed impossible with how notable Shikaru was within Konohagakure; and Shikara just wasn't nearly as motivated to get things straight.
Walking up the stairs to the Hokage's Manor, Shikara arrived last(as usual) to the meeting. Taking a quick look at her teammates, Chozen and Inoru, she let out a small sigh before moving into the center of the two boys. Shikara stayed silent as the older Nara spoke, first with introducing himself and his motives, then asking them to do the same. And of course...he'd choose me to go first. After releasing a sigh, Shikara crossed her arms over her chest before beginning,"Name's Shikara Nara. I'm thirteen-years old. I like reading, sleeping, looking up at the clouds...and that's it. My aspirations are just to be the best shinobi that I can be, ?I guess. It's not really a topic that I've thought about much. And my dislikes...that's a lot of things."After the given silence after she spoke, it was made pretty clear that she wasn't going to go into detail of every single thing she disliked.

Ashort boy with brown hair that went down to his chin slept in his bed, his legs sprawled across the bed and the blankets half-way on the ground. Chōzen Akimichi, the skinniest and smallest member of his clan, had a habit of sleeping in when it was the least convenient for everyone. Today was his first real day as a genin, and he would be meeting with his squad for the first time today. The squad, of course, being one of the most famous squads in all of Konoha History. The three were destined to become the next generation of the Ino-Shika-Chō formation. Because of the bonds that their clans held, the three genin were practically forced to become best friends, though Chōzen didn't seem to mind spending extra time with Shikara. He had developed a bit of a crush on her during their time in the academy, because of how smart she was and how she seemed to excel in everything without even trying. The Akimichi boy rolled over in his bed, his face landing in his pillow as a drop of drool rolled down his cheek.
Some time later, Chōzen was awoken by his mother, who came into the room with a spatula in her hand, shaking it vigorously. The woman had been trying to wake up her son for almost twenty minutes now, and she was yelling something about the fact that he was going to be late for meeting up with his team. It wasn't until she left his room and began to cook breakfast that the smell of food finally woke him up. The thin boy's eyes fluttered open slowly as a yawn escaped his lips and he stretched his arms out. Looking out the open door of his room, Chōzen tilted his head to the side, trying to figure out exactly what his mother was cooking without having to stand up.
After finally gaining the strength to stand up, Chōzen cracked his neck and his knuckles, looking around his room and finding a brush. He brushed his hair down so that it would not spike up like it naturally did, since he preferred his hair to remain low and not unkempt like the other members of his family. His father, Chōza, had bright red hair that went all the way down to his waist, which Chōzen found to be a disgusting length for a male. It just didn't seem like a natural occurrence, since most males hair went down to the bottom of their necks, not all the way down their backs. The young boy let out another yawn as he put on his grey sweatshirt, which had his clan's symbol on the front of it, and the metal part of his forehead protector had been sewn into the hood of the sweatshirt. "Thanks again for the sewing, ma." He said as he walked into the dining room and hugged his mother. After eating a bowl of her signature breakfast ramen, he dashed out the door with his hood up, making sure to grab the necessary tools for whatever their sensei had planned for the day.
Upon his arrival at the Hokage Monument where he had been instructed to go, Chōzen noticed that his sensei was another member of the Nara Clan. This sure would be an interesting journey that they would be going on together. Of course, everything was a journey in Chōzen's eyes, since there were so many great experiences that they could have together. After a short while of waiting for their last team mate to arrive, and a few short words with his cousin Inoru, Chōzen watched as Shikara finally decided to show up. So she really is on my team.. Score! He thought, a large grin on his face. Chōzen listened to Shikara as she discussed what she liked and disliked, simply saying that she disliked a lot of things. Chōzen then realized that it was his turn for an introduction. "My name's Chōzen Akimichi, and I really like ramen, and bento boxes, and oyakodon.." He went on for quite some time about the various foods he enjoyed, which was only natural for an Akimichi. "And some day, I hope that I can show my dad that I can be just as great a leader as him."

Inoru was up early since today was a very important day. He wanted to make sure he looked his absolute best. Inoru got out the bed and fixed the covers on it. He walked over to his closet and picked out his usual outfit. He wore a green sleeveless shirt with green pants. Inoru took a long relaxing shower. When he was done he got dressed and went back into his room and sat in his chair in front of the mirror. Inoru slowly brushed his hair before putting it into a long pony tail that hung down below his back.
" Inoru hurry up you better not make me come up there."
Inoru sighed when he heard the words of his mother. Shinobu Yamanaka the younger sister of Chozen Akimichi. " I'm almost ready be patient." he responded. His mother had a bit of a short temper and often butted heads with his uncle Choza Akimichi having the typical brother sister relationship. Inoru walked to the other side of his room and looked at his forehead protector and tied it around his neck. He was not particularly fond of putting it on his forehead. He would only put it on when he would participate in the chuunin exams. The male then made sure he had all his weapons since he was not quite sure what his sensei had planned.
Inoru walked down stairs and saw his brother with an annoyed look on her face. His father was out on a mission and was unable to join them for breakfast. Shinobu Yamanaka bore a great resemblance to his grandmother. She had Dark brown hair which she kept in an upward pony tail with a side bang that covered the left side of her face. He quickly ate and before he was headed out the door his mom gave hima hug and told him he needs to hurry. His mom was excited about him being put into the next generation Ino-Shika-Cho team.
Inoru arrived at the training ground and saw his cousin Chouzen and chatted with him for a bit until their last teammate showed up. Inoru did not know much about Shikara other than the fact she appeared unmotivated. Inoru knew he would have to try to fix that. He was going to consider himself the unocffial leader of the squad. Inoru patiently waited and listned to the introductions that was made and when it was his turn he cleared his throat." I am Inoru Yamanaka. I like cooking, drawing , and making sure I look the best. Well I do have a couple of goals. The first goal is to become the clan leader for the Yamanaka clan letting the village know that we can be just as strong as the Uchiha and Hyuuga clans. The second is to uphold the promise i made to My grandmother Ino Yamanaka which is similar to the one she gave Asuma. I will never lose to Yata Haruna in ninjutsu or romance. " he said in a serious tone as the wind blew his long hair.

Shikaru watched his niece as she let out a sigh before beginning to speak, the girl was so much like his father it scared him at times. Hopefully she would gain that sense of duty later on much like Shikamaru had when he was younger. "Alright Shikara that is a good dream for all of us to strive for. Together as a team we will make it happen!" He gave his niece another smile as he moved his gaze over to Chozen Akimichi. This was not your normal Akimichi tho, Chozen was a little on the skinny side for a member of that family.
As Shikaru listened to him listing many food names it became obvious to him that Chozen was a true Akimichi. Finally Shikaru had to speak up to the boy, "Ok Chozen just a couple of foods is fine." Shikaru still wore a smile as the boy moved on to his aspiration of showing his father he can be a good leader as well. "I am sure you will do fine Chozen, and I will help you on your way to that dream." This kid would make a good ninja since he had that want to prove himself to his father much like Shikaru had with his.
Finally Shikaru's eyes rested on Inoru Yamanaka the next clan leader for the Yamanaka clan, Shikaru was interested to hear what he had to say. Shikaru was glad to hear that the boy liked to cook as Shikaru was not much of a cook himself so the skill would come in handy on long term missions. The part about looking the best seemed a little conceited tho but then again its always good to try and look your best as well perhaps he was thinking to much into it. Shikaru nodded at his dreams they were good dreams, both would push him to better himself which is what Shikaru hoped for. "I will do my best to help you in beating your rival Inoru."
Shikaru gave the group one last smile before it faded into a stern look, "But know this all three of you, the life of a shinobi is not easy. It is dangerous and full of heart break, you are all tools for the village now. I am going to teach you to be the best that you can be in hopes that you will all one day surpass me and protect our village with your very lives." Shikaru looked to the three of them for reactions before moving on. "Alright now that we have all been introduced I think its time we moved on, I want the three of you to meet me at training ground three. I have measured the distance and it is the furthest training ground from this place. This is a race between the three of you, whoever makes it there first gets a prize so don't dawdle. With that Shikaru burst with a poof of smoke revealing that it had been a shadow clone the entire time.
The real Shikaru was at training ground three already preparing for the arrival of his students. The first of the three tests had begun and it was only a matter of time before the genin arrived. Shikaru thought his method of teaching might end up being a little harsh but by the end he would know just how far these three would go. Standing in the center of the training ground with his arms crossed Shikaru let his eyes gaze into the sky at the few passing clouds while he awaited their arrival.

Chōzen looked toward his sensei and listened to him as he spoke about the life of a shinobi. Chōzen already knew of these risks, but he was willing to take all of them in order to make his father proud of him. It would be the best way to prove that being scrawny wasn't a bad thing, especially since he could still make full use of his clan's techniques. He was currently in possession of his great grandfather's bō, which was a staff that grew along with him due to its special properties. Chōzen had just recently started to use it as an actual weapon, though he was rather skilled with it already. The staff was currently strapped to his back. Looking at his team mates, Chōzen realized that the three of them were very different. While Chōzen was outgoing and self conscious at the same time, Shikara seemed to not care very much, and Inoru seemed far too conceited. What a wonderful time this will be.. He thought. Chōzen then watched as his sensei explained that there would be a race to the training grounds, and Chōzen pounded his palm with his fist in excitement.
The young Akimichi boy had been looking for some way to prove himself, and this would be just the beginning of it. Of course, after a moment of thinking, he realized that this could be one of the tests he had been warned about. Despite this, Chōzen was too excited to mention it to his team mates. "Well.. I guarantee I'm gonna win this one!" He said eagerly. Forming several hand seals, Chōzen expanded his entire body into a form that resembled a giant ball. Forcing himself to spin using his chakra, Chōzen flew off the cliff that held the Hokage Monument, and then returned to normal size while still in the air. "Oh man.. I'm gonna need to time this one good.." He said quietly as he started falling closer towards the ground. Forming one hand seal, the size of Chōzen's arm was almost quintupled as he caught himself from falling. Now quite some distance away from his team mates, Chōzen took off in a sprint towards the training grounds, his hood falling down and revealing his messy brown hair.
Sure, he was being hasty, but he was so excited that he could hardly contain himself. As he ran through the streets of Konoha, he neared closer to the gates that led to the training grounds. He was sure to be the first one to the training grounds after the stunt he had just pulled. "They'll never catch up, and that prize'll be all mine." He said quietly, quickly running out of breath and taking a short break to try and get some air flowing through his lungs. The techniques that he had just used to propel himself this far were fairy advanced techniques for a genin, though Chōzen had dedicated himself to learning them over the past six years of his life, it was no wonder he was so proficient in their use, though he still required hand seals to gather the proper amount of chakra needed to use them. After regaining his breath and stamina, Chōzen took off towards the gates, picking up the pace as his team mates may have already started on their way towards Shikaru.

Inoru smiled lightly when Shikaru tolkd him he would help him with his goal of beating his rival. The two use to be friends when they were younger. In the academy he would often stand by Yata's side when they made fun of him for the lines on his face. Their rivalry started when the two became older. Inoru promised he wouldn't let Yata beat him no matter what. Inoru's mother was friends with Yata's father and thought the rivalry would be good for them as it would have both of them work even harder.
Inoru crossed his arms while listning the the hokage speak. " Thats a interesting way to say it. " he said in a slightly sarcastic tone. The term tools was quite irritating since it made him felt like they were just being used but he figured he was reading too much into it. Inoru continued to listen to his speech and nodded. It was to be expected that becoming a ninja was not a game and they would go on serious missions. Inoru was confident in his own abilities . Inoru welcomed becoming the new head of the Yamanaka clan but he would also make sure that the Ino Shika Cho formation would be even better than the old one.
Inoru sighed lightly as the hokage picked the farthest training ground there was and told them they had to race to the training field and the first one there would get a prize. Inoru wondered if this was a trap and before he could suggest they should think things through his cousin charged forward stating he was going to win the race. At that moment Inoru's competitive drive kicked in. " It will take more than that to ensure your victory. " he said before turning to Shikara " See ya at the training grounds" Inoru told the final teammate before taking a different path off the monument.
Inoru jumped from building to building trying to catch up to his cousin. He had to admit his cousin did gain some distance using the technique like that but he could still catch up. Inoru jumped down and landed continuing running. He saw Chozen up ahead and smiled as he quickly took off. When he got close he formed the tiger handseal to focus his chakra and jumped off the ground using his chakra to boost his jump and speed and landed alongside Chozen and turned to him while he was running and stuck his tongue out at him. " Sorry but I am the one thats going to be winning this challenge. " he said in a smug tone . .
