Brief Overview
Pereas and Cavel are fencing students of the renowned Acion Icao Tirea, a gifted and undefeated swordmaster. While Pereas and Cavel train side by side, a bond of love and admiration grows rapidly between them. Unfortunately, Acion also fosters a love for young Cavel - who does not return his constant bids for affection. In a jealous rage, Acion expels Pereas from his school and viciously attacks him, leaving him on the edge of death. A healer, Nevea Ce Imar, finds young Pereas and nurses him back to health, though she cannot heal the need for vengeance in his heart. Meanwhile, Acion has used foul magicks to bewitch Cavel into loving him. Returned to health, Pereas seeks out a way to take his revenge upon Acion, knowing that he will never match the verteran swordsman's skill in arms. By chance, Pereas is approached by a merchant and purveyor of powerful artifacts, Feria Imf Sevet, who offers to sell him a sword that will allow him to best his former teacher. Though it comes at a cost. Whenever it's possessor uses the sword for his own gain, he will also lose something of equal value. Blinded by revenge, Pereas sells everything he owns to buy the blade. Accosted by ruffians a short time later, Pereas uses the sword to defend himself and thoroughly trounces them. He apparently does not lose anything as a result and theorizes that the merchant was mistaken of it's drawback. He challenges Acion to a duel, but his former master refuses, knowing he is the superior swordsman and content that he has Cavel`s love. Infuriated, Pereas attacks him and forces Acion to defend himself. The duel is ferocious but Pereas, with the magic of the sword, defeats and then kills the swordmaster. With Acion dead, his spell is broken and Cavel is returned to his senses. Pereas is overjoyed that he gained his revenge upon Acion, though it is short-lived. Cavel is disgusted at his former love`s callous and brutal behavior, vowing never to love him again. Realizing the curse of the blade has stolen Cavel`s love for him, Pereas drives the sword though his own heart.
