Naiko giggled as Shelby asked her question in a charming southern accent. She had already dismissed the idea of her being involved with another due to her cynical outlook. Naiko didn't see much of a cynic within Shelby's personality, but then again this was the first time that she and the doctor had this kind of interaction. Before now, it was only passing greetings and slight conversations during meetings, not to mention the ongoing communication in the field. The Ninja tilted her head thoughtfully toward the ceiling as she mulled over her options.
"Let's see......well.....I don't find any of the guys here all that interesting," she admitted. "Fatal is a bit too old-fashioned for my taste, Reen isn't all that alluring, and William's a pure boy. Regi's pretty attractive though, but I doubt he's willing to get caught up in a romance with his duties as the Comm Director."
With that said, Naiko leaned forward and mimicked Shelby's posture with an innocent smile.
"Besides....I'm more into women anyway." -------------------------- William's gaze softened as he watched Sami rummage through a random drawer. He could see that the news of what happened to her parents had very much shaken her to her core. While it may have been true that Sami's actions as a child were justified from the perspective of a regular teenager, the end result of her rebellion was more than she could bear. It was very easy to see how the guilt could weigh on the young girl's heart.
She more than likely regrets ever leaving her home...William thought to himself. Even if he was correct, the ranger grew worried for Sami. This type of guilt was enough to make someone do something completely rash or go off the deep end. While William was good at providing an ear and giving honest feedback, he knew that nothing he could say was going to get the assassin to see things differently.
Maybe Shelby would be a bigger help....
The ranger snapped out of his thoughts when Sami asked him for an activity to take her mind off of everything for a while.
"Something to do...." he murmured before returning his gaze to Sami. "Well, you're free to join me in my room for movie night. The base....doesn't lend itself on fun quite often, so it's up to us to invest in some form of entertainment."
He gave a light chuckle before putting his hands in his pockets.
"All jokes aside does this sound like something you'd be interested in?" he asked.

Sami's eyes went to the desk for moment to consider William's movie night proposal. The girl couldn't remember when was the last time she sat down and watched a movie, or even a tv show for that matter. Her thoughts wouldn't let her. Maybe now they will with someone beside her? The assassin's attention shifted back to the boy as a soft smile tugged at her lips.
"That sounds wonderful. Thank you, Will." On their way back, Sami couldn't help a chuckle at a thought. "Too bad we're grounded. We could go to a theater like a proper date."
The second she spoke those words, the girl scolded herself for such a ridiculous joke. It was her fault that they were in this mess and Ryder was fatherless.. Aaaand there goes her mind again. Sami hung her head enough for her hair to hide her face as she went quiet.

Shelby grinned when Naiko mimicked her posture. She gave Naiko a flirty little wink in response to her potential mate preference. "Nothing wrong with eye candy." Shelby mused, keeping her gaze fixated on Naiko. "It's always fun to appreciate attractive people, no matter who they are." The crafty spy batted her eyelids again. After a moment or two, Shelby broke eye contact and sat up straight, taking her elbows off the table.
After taking a quick glance of her surroundings to see if either Sami or William had returned, the spy shrugged a little. "I doubt Sami would be that overtly forward with William anyways. Sami has to know full well that William fancies her. Hopefully he'll provide the comfort she's looking for, but I doubt very much it's THAT." The awkward emphasis on the last word she spoke caused her to laugh at herself. "Sorry, guess I got a little carried away." Cocking her head at Naiko with a warm smile, Shelby uncomfortably rubbed that back of her head. "So, shall we wait for our knight in shining armor to return, or shall we get started on that alias check?"

Naiko returned Shelby's wink with an appreciative sweep of the blonde's body. She had a slender frame that was accented by her curves and bust line, topped off with her gorgeous blonde hair and striking emerald eyes. It was a complete contrast to the Ninja's own evergreen orbs, which lingered on Shelby's toned legs before returning back to their neutral position. With how beautiful she was, it was somewhat difficult to remember that she was in fact 10 years Naiko's senior. With that said, the Ninja assumed that Shelby had much bigger fish to fry than worrying about the physical musings of a young girl.
Still, she was plenty attractive and that was enough to grab Naiko's attention.
Falling back in line with the original conversation, Naiko giggled as Shelby explained her commentary on the budding couple that was William and Sami. The good doctor insisted that the two were merely getting better acquainted with one another instead of engaging in intense carnal affairs. The Ninja brushed a loose strand of hair from her face as she weighed in on the matter.
"You've got a point. William's much too sweet to rush into anything like that. Especially if those actions make Sami uncomfortable," she said in agreement. "Still...if he's able to knock boots with Sami from the get-go, then maybe there's a Lady-Killer under all that sugar."
"Then again, maybe it's Sami who's got our pure boy in her clutches. Showing him the deadly dance of her hips and her boobs."
The Ninja, with no shame, messed with her own bust to emphasize this point before bursting out laughing. Judging by how nervous and shy the two operatives were around each other, it was a very safe bet that nothing of the sort was happening at this very moment. Still, it was fun to pretend.
Once the hijinks calmed down, Naiko gave Shelby a slight nod before getting to her feet.
"I say let Romeo have his day," she said. "I'm sure he'll tell us all about it anyway. For now, let's go get our callsigns scrubbed." -------------------------- William's eyes lit up as Sami accepted his invitation to an impromptu movie night in his room. As the pair made their way back, the Assassin mentioned that it was too bad they were grounded and couldn't go to the actual movie theater like a real date.
Those four words: Like. A. Real. Date. Caused all of time to slow to a complete crawl as William assessed the situation in his mind.
A-A-A-A-A date?! Does she think this is a date?! he thought to himself. No...No, she didn't say that directly. But with what she DID say....it sounded like she wouldn't be opposed to going on an actual date with me. I mean, sure, I did all of this to get a little closer to Sami, but...wait...Oh no! Does...Does she KNOW?! Does she know that I like her?! How could she have known?! Did Naiko tell her?!
His body trembled slightly before the Ranger managed to calm himself down.
Relax, William. You're doing fine, so far. Even if she does know how I feel about her, things haven't gotten totally awkward yet. Maybe...she likes me too?
He looked over to his side to see the Assassin in yet another depressive state. At first, he was concerned. Then he went over their last conversation and figured out why she was in this mood. Between Ryder losing her father and Sami discovering these lost details about her family, she desperately needed a distraction. Something that could tie her down a bit, keep her anchored until she was ready to tackle these problems piece by piece. William understood this and cleared his throat before speaking to her.
"Yes well, I'm sure the security sweep will be over before long," he said. "Once it is then, I'd...be more than happy to...take you out on a real date...if you're interested."
He then took her hand in his before looking into her crimson eyes.
"Until then, let's make the best we can out of this situation and have some fun, okay?"
William knew that she blamed herself for everything, but that didn't mean she was right to. It was going to be hard planning missions from this point on, but the Noe bounced back from worse. William believed that Sami would as well, in time. He just needed to get her to see that.

The sound of Will clearing his throat pulled Sami from her thoughts and she nodded at his offer. Getting a chance at being normal would be nice after.. How long? The girl couldn't remember if she even had moments like that since being rescued. Too wrapped up in repenting.
Feeling his hand taking hers startled the assassin. It was a sensation she hadn't felt in along time aside from the motherly touches from Colleen every so often. Those tender hugs and reassuring hand squeezes always made her want to cry in bitter sweetness. It was something she needed and craved. This.. This gesture was different. It felt different somehow. Returning his gaze, she studied his hazel eyes then slowly nodded before laying her head against his shoulder. Suddenly feeling tired as if just enough of the burden was lifted for her to relax.
Maybe after the movie, Sami can finally get some well needed rest her mind refused her for so long?

William's body tensed up slightly as Sami rested her head on his shoulder. He managed to resist turning bright red from the gesture, although his cheeks still held a rosy blush. In any case, it seemed that his words managed to reach the assassin in a very different way than what he was used to seeing.
She agreed with him that what both of them really needed right now was just the chance to relax and be for the moment. To strip away their titles and just be two individuals enjoying a movie together. This war brought plenty of baggage and responsibilities with it, enough to eclipse a person's life entirely. With the few hours that they had to themselves, Will definitely planned to take full advantage of it. And it looked like Sami was along for the ride as well.
The pair resumed their walk and before long, they made it to William's room. Once he opened the door and stepped inside, Sami would be able to see just how quaint the ranger lived. His room, for the most part, was relatively standard. His bed sat in a designated corner of the room, adjacent to his desk which held his laptop and some novels. His keyboard and composition notebooks had their own little section, and his bookcase was stationed next to his television, which was mounted on the wall. William yawned and stretched a bit before sitting down his bed tapping the spot next to him.
"It's a little small, I know, but welcome to my room, Sami," he said with a smile before turning on his TV and surfing the digital streams for something to watch.
"Hmm....let's see.....Oh! I was going to watch Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom pretty soon. How's that sound to you?"
