We have all read endless stories about people who have found love or heartbreak while looking for a relationship on the Internet. (Though some never expect to have one but still manage to find it online) Numerous websites have been dedicated to finding that perfect match online. From chatrooms to social networking sites and dating sites, even the more random ones - the Internet has changed the way we live and love. But the question is: how real is Internet romance? More importantly, can it last forever? Does the anonymity factor play a major role in deciding the fate of such relationships? In fact, for most people, anonymity is the major cushioning factor against heartbreak. But what happens when the couple decides to actually meet? Does reality give a nasty jolt? Or can they continue to live in their fantasy world forever?

Opinions, violent reactions? Feel free to post them here. emotion_awesome

I have seen numerous results from creating relationships online, and I would like to share a few. The first example was the marriage between my father and my step-mother. They met online though a dating site, dated for over a year, and now have been happily married for over 3 years. From what I've seen, they are unlikely to ever divorce. The second example is from a relative of mine who started dating someone though World of Warcraft about 5 years ago. At any given time now they are going to break up, and it's going to be real messy for everyone. The third one involves myself, the relationship isn't sexual, but for over a year, I have talked to and hung out for over a year with the same people over mumble, without ever seeing them in person. So I guess what I mean to say is that experiences differ with everyone, it can be possible to date from the internet, but it can be difficult at times.
