Other items: the crest of shadows doesn't actually do anything it's something his brother made on a whim one day. He gave this crest to Gerald before passing away which is why he keeps it with him at all times. it's NOT a real crest. only a keepsake from his brother though he wears it proudly.

Additional Information: He actually has 2 digimon however he created an alternate persona after one of Apoclomon's generals killed his older brother the he met the other digidestined shortly after creating the second persona which he uses to work alongside the Phantom Virus Tamers using his second digimon Shadow Gabumon who cannot digivolve without Gerald nearby. the second person was called Phazom who seemed to have a genuine hatred towards the digidestined though this is infact just a rouge as he is on neither the side of the digidestined nor the side of the Tamers as he only wants to free Apacolomon so that he could personally see to it that Apacolomon was destroyed once and for all. His digivice however allows both DNA and Biomerge Digivolution Gerald can also create a digital copy of himself in the Phazom Desguise giving him the appearance of being in 2 places at one and even battling against himself however Phazom's Digimon Shadow Gabumon can only digivolve when Gerald is nearby because Phazom is not a real person. when he first met the other digidestined they were surprised and one ask if he was human his reply to this was that he wasn't human only mortal. eplaining that Humans are a particular race of arrogant beings and Mortal simply means anything that can die.
