The hotel you have entered is in fact an old Victorian hotel that, in the late 19th century, was converted into a home for paranormal souls. Founded by a man formerly known only as Mister 3, who's appearance was as vague and mysterious as his name, the home became a hit among the lost and paranormal souls of the world.
However, in the early 1930s, The House of Lost suffered a blow that resulted in the disappearance of their frightening, albeit beloved, Mister 3. The popularity of the house dwindled for a few years until it was simply an afterthought. Living and dead drifters wandered through the derelict building until one day a young, very mysterious young woman by the name of Syndra changed the course of the house once more. Slowly bringing the house back to life.
Said to be the very prodigy of the legendary Mister 3, Syndra took the reigns of The House of Lost and restored it to its former glory with the help of the rest of the house's staff.
They say the house is a sanctuary for lost souls. They say you are among family. But there is something about the dark secrets of the hotel for the lost leads one to question the family's sincerity.
As first impressions go, we are sure you will all have your own. The bright lobby or foyer if you will is packed with promises of new adventures. Each direction leading you to anywhere and possibly nowhere, but to you nowhere is nothing new is it?
So the question is, where or more effectively what do you wish to find within these old walls?
A place to drown your sorrows? There's a bar somewhere around here. A place where you can feel as a feather might? I think there might be a pool. Are you hungry maybe? The chef's likely in the kitchen though don't ask me which hall to trust. A quiet place to relax? Well who knows where that might be, for who am I to assume what room will be less frequented...
The only thing I've noticed about this house is it sleeps less frequently than the dead, and for reasons I have yet to understand it knows what you may not yet know.
I will promise this though, here at Hotel Lost it will take a lot of effort to wander into wonderland.
Here at Hotel Lost, your character will come to find that where you want to be will usually be where you end up. Whether you climbed the left staircase or the right you may still wind up on the first floor in the ballroom rather than wherever else you may have wished to go. I thought it would be an interesting concept of being lost and found at the same time. Never being able to get lost because you know where you want to be, and when you don't know it's where you want to be you will find in time that you may still feel warm in the room you appeared in.
In any case each room does have a designated floor and section for those who don't wish to deal with the rather confusing ways of the house.Though I imagine most people don't enjoy saying I passed through the long recreational hall, past the butler working hard at the bar to finally arrive at the pool near the back of the right side of the house...

Upon reaching your room you find a note on the door. It simply reads as follows...
Anything you desire can be attained through knowledge allow. Your most fanciful requests merely a thought away.
Upon entering you find it to already be filled with furniture. Each object you may notice has a faint sparkly glow to it. When you try to focus on each object they seem to have no true form. Each one almost shivering as you imagine different possibilities.
Of course, I assume everyone has their own idea of what they want. This is simply a basic setup that you find upon entering your room. Feel free to change anything you'd like, and role-play as you see fit. As the note said, desire is merely a thought away.

Please Note:Upon entering Hotel lost you may choose to think whatever you like of yourhostess.You may choose to remainobliviousto these rumors, knowingnothing of her,or you may choose instead to feelthankfulordreadfulfor her presence. Either way it ishighlyunlikely that she would just appear to tell you herself of courseso don't get any silly ideas! (;
Night after night, and day after daySyndraworked endlessly to restore the Hotel that her former friend had once cherished deeply back to it's former glory. AsMister 3once had,Syndrahad also wanted to help those who were lost find there way. Whether by bringing them back to the path they once traveled, or by convincing them of thebeautiful possibilitiesof taking another road. A road that some may think isless traveledfor good reason. Long ago, beforeSyndraherself was found it is rumored that her need to help others wasgrosslymisconstrued. You see, like most of the being's that you may come in contact with at Hotel LostSyndraherself is not like any being that you just happen to chance upon. It is rumored that once herdesireto bring the lost to light was not quite asheart warmingas it may initially sound...
In thelate 1800's Syndra wassupposedly considered a demon of sorts though no demonwould call it true. With hertongue of silverand her inviting smileSyndra took on many forms that many would assumemythical in naturefrom the very beginning of this tale. You see, Syndra then would scour the darknesslooking for any helpless souls that she might devour. She wouldconsole them with lies, convince them to follow her with hersweet impossible promises, and then the morning afterwhen the light returned whomever she had taken would beforever found within her. Never truly lost again, because in the irony of it she would use the image of the souls she had taken to initiallydraw her newest victims in. The idea that someone who wasthought to be forever lost finding them likea promiseof once again also returning. Though sadly, theyneverreturned as themselves. Only as Syndrareincarnated as a young new modelin order to continue her rampage.
However...There is another rumor that, though the same, says Syndra herself is notevilorgood.They say that her appearance should not befeared.Her presence does not represent deathbutthe promise of eternal life in a world free of fear and pain.Freeofhunger.They believe that she takes thesegodforsaken soulsoff to another world where they will never feel the sameanguishagain. Theyrespect heras a sort ofreaper,at least that's what the human's call her. She herself from what I have heard had actuallypreferred the title of"Lady Death"and"Savior of the Lost"rather than the more creepy"Reaper of Souls".
