A very business-oriented man Samuel, ironically, has no time for children's games and is quite serious about his work. He's only allowed to experience these emotions during his downtime after a job well done. Samuel loves a glass of fine wine in his right hand, a best selling novel in his left, and a gorgeous woman on his lap ━ but this is just a fleeting fantasy drummed up by his wishful imagination. Emotion is stealthed in this predatory world and undying will strikes like an iron fist. Passive until provoked, in which he'll become a vengeful assassin who will think nothing of assaulting those who stand in his way. In this lawless world he is the darkness that will shed light on what really lays in the shadows. He will become the judge, jury, and executioner to right the wrongs done to the people and will form bridges with whoever he needs, knowing that they will eventually lead him to his perpetrator.

“I've already lost two important people in my life. I won't lose the third. I don't remember when it all started, I locked the files away in a safe in my office before I sauntered into this damn game. What I can recall is my purpose for taking this case in the first place.

For starters, let's make sure things aren't misunderstood. I'm a detective, a private investigator ━ not a Cop. . .not anymore. When a distraught dame burst into my office in tears telling me how her husband had gone missing for two weeks nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Just another Missing Persons case. I figured it was just another man that ditched his wife and kid for his mistress or murdered for a drug deal gone wrong. I'd seen it time and time again in this sleazy city so I decided to do a background check on this guy to be sure.

He was a Caucasian man who studied and graduated with a Master's in Graphic Design from Harvard University here in California. He pursued a career in Gaming Development and landed a job for the American branch of the Argus company, a popular gaming company originating from Japan responsible for all of this mess. After some thorough digging I couldn't find anything dirty about this guy other than a possible caffeine dependency because of all of the late hours he worked at the company. It went without saying that he was being paid up the wazoo for his work but something was amiss ━ who'd want this man gone? He was your average family man who worked hard to support his wife and kid. An ordinary, law-abiding, voting citizen. Had a robbery occurred the corrupt would just flee the scene before the cops came and leave the corpse to rot away on the asphalt. There was no trace of this guy. . .He clocked into work one day and never came home yet his vehicle was still in the parking lot.

I had heard some bad things about the Argus company from the Missing's spouse, they'd been involved in some shady things. We both believed it was just her woman's intuition but when she started her husband's sudden drinking habits and talk of high-tech gizmo mumbo-jumbo about a game called Sword Art Online [SAO for short] and how he'd express his disgust for it during his half-drunken ravings to his wife in private. Certain. . .aspects of the game that could adverse effects on the players. There was no further detail than that and she was convinced that his sudden alcoholism was caused by such a highly stressful job so she didn't think much about his rantings until he'd gone missing.

I knew there was something strange here. Why hadn't she just gone to the police with this? They had more authority to dig around than I did and the F.B.I could've gotten involved. She told me that she didn't want any of this to go public that would tarnish her husband's name or put him into anymore danger than he may have been in if he was being held captive somewhere. She had no evidence of her claims either. But seeing that deep, distraught look in her eyes had reminded me that of my wife's. Loving yet worried, a genuinely concerned for her husband's safety with a glint of hope in her tear-filled eyes.

My partner protested taking on such a High-risk case. I got into this business to help the little people, the ordinary people. Who more ordinary than a common housewife concerned for her man's well-being? There was something fishy going on behind closed doors of this Argus company, I could sense it. Every fiber in my body told me to decline this woman's request but, reluctantly, I accepted.

Regrettably, I think I've bitten off a lot more than I can chew with this one. . .”
