Ranmaru smiled sadly at his little brother's expression and ruffled his held him close. "Tell you what, let's get something to eat and then afterwards I'll introduce you to some people. A meal had been prepared when they arrived and Ranmaru was starving. A simple meal of grilled salmon, rice, and picked vegetables had been prepared for the siblings. Setting Zach down in the chair opposite his own Ranmaru sat down and clapped his hands together. "Itadakimasu." Ranmaru reached for his bowl of rice and chopsticks and began eating.

"Ita-daghy-muso?" Zach attempted to repeat the foreign word that his brother had said and looked at the plate of food. He went straight for the vegetables, eating them up easily and without complaint.

Ranmaru chucked at his brothers pronunciation and corrected him, "It's ma-su otouto (little brother), we're gonna have to teach you Japanese one of these days."

"Japanese? What's that?" he asked, looking at the rice, not one-hundred percent sure how to eat it as he stared at the chopsticks. He picked them up and attempted to use them like his brother, but failing miserably.

"It's the language we speak here in Japan, father and I Japanese and your half." He replied with a mouthful of rice. Ranmaru grinned and chuckled at his otouto's attempt to use his chopsticks. He held up his hand and showed him the correct way of using them, picking up a clump of rice.

Ran puffed up his cheeks as he continued to try with the chopsticks. Finally, he gave up and picked up the salmon with his fingers and ate it. He was frustrated, now and didn't want to keep trying with the chopsticks. He just wanted regular silverware.

Ranmaru chucked and reached over the table to ruffle Zach's hair, "Your going to have to learn sooner or later otouto."

"Why do you use them instead of forks and spoons?" he asked his older brother, looking at the foreign chopsticks that sat next to his plate. He didn't understand, forks and spoons were so much easier to use.
