there lies island where dreams come true-
-literally.
All people dream. Even animals dream sometimes. Dreams are normally thought of as a way your subconscious sorts out your thoughts. Dreams tap into your best and worst moments. Some dream more some dream less, but all dream. Many people think that once you have a dream it's over and done. Yeah, maybe a few months from now you'll have the same dream, but for the most part the dream is over and it won't be coming back to the person who dreamt it, but that doesn't mean it disappears completely.
Thoughts have power, so by extension so do dreams. When a dream ends that power has no where to go, no where for it to be released. So it simmers and grows in power, slowly throughout the dream and by the end of the dream, the power finds a way to be released, stripping the person or thing of the memory of having said dream, but where does this power go? Well, if the power is strong enough and the dream was vivid enough, the power will make its way to the ocean, traveling along until it reaches a single island positioned smack in the middle of an area called the Bermuda Triangle. And this island is known as Dream Island.
For you see, once the power reaches this island, it manifests itself, becoming the dream it came from. So, in a sense, making the dream come true, literally. This has been happening for as long as there has been dreaming. Though the oldest dream is not known, and dreams certainly don't judge each other on a simple fact like age, the island has a rich history and a wide diversity for it is the only place of its kind and therefore the only place for dreams to be... dreams.
This place has become the paradise, or sanctuary, to many, many dreams. They live in peace with one another and the island has everything you could need. It's been modernized many times over the growing times and the dreams can call upon the power that brought them here to generate certain items when they need it. Everyone has a nice life and there are more than just dreams there. Ships that get stranded or lost in the Bermuda Triangle will sometimes end up at the island and the humans on it are accepted into the community and found a place to stay and work to do. Thoughts of leaving the island have been there and attempts have been made, but those who tried were never heard from so it is unknown if they made it to safety or not. Plus, why would one want to leave such a paradise, or at least, what they thought was a paradise.
Unknown to some, but known by many, the island held a dark secret. What many inhabitants of the island forgot about that along with dreams come nightmares. And with nightmares come the exact same power that makes the dreams come true, except the difference is, the power of the nightmares is stronger and much, much more vicious.
In a deep forest within the island there runs an electric fence that goes from one side of the island to the other, splitting it completely in half. In fact, this fence even runs along in the water a long way. Within the forest is the only spot the fence could possibly open up. This single place is one of the strongest locked gates in the world and it stays there for the singular purpose of keeping all of those nasty nightmares in and away from the dreams. Who made this fence? It's unknown, but what is known is that one single little girl holds the key to unlock the gate.
And what does this foolish girl do one day? Why, she takes a little trip into the forest to have herself a picnic on her own and while in the forest she finds herself a gate that has a tiny keyhole on it that it the other half to the key she wears around her neck. So what does this foolish girl do? Well, she unlocks the gate, unleashing unfathomable chaos and terror. So, who are you in this story and what role will you play?
