History - Kaguya was actually born by the name of Asuka as the atotori, meaning heiress, to a geisha who wasn’t one of the most successful geisha in the district, but had caught the eye of a dana early in her career. She was dotted on by her father at an early age, and was taught from the beginning by her mother who was very strict in her teachings. They moved to the Pontocho district when Asuka turned five and she was sent to an okiya to learn and continue her training, this was the same okiya as her mother.
Kaguya started her formal training to become a maiko as a minarai and found an older sister to watch over her and was given the new name of Kaguya. Her mother visited rarely, but when she did it was to make sure her daughter was on the right path. It was while she attended the parties with her one-san that Kaguya truly saw how much damage had been done to time. The rich of the future were rude; they could not uphold her old traditions. She could not comprehend these people, nor the foreigners from different places, looking very much different from those before the shattered time.
Kaguya’s anger began growing from there, and only worsened one night when her onee-san and she were corner by some thugs from a distant future while returning from a party. She made it back to the okiya unharmed with the exceptions of a few rips in her expensive kimono and her hair in shambles, her older sister was found dead the next day in an alleyway. It was a sad day in the okiya, but one that only strengthened Kaguya’s beliefs that time had to return at any cost.
After the incident, she was given another older sister and became a maiko as her final training years began looming. Kaguya pushed herself in her studies, learning to adapt to the different people and situations and becoming a well recognized maiko. As a apprentice with two older sisters, she has garnered quite the large client list and expects to be well off once she becomes a full fledged geisha. She hopes these contacts will be able to give her some sense of how time may be repaired.
Personality -
+ Benevolent: Kaguya really tries to only mean the best. Even if it doesn't always work out to the benefit of everyone around her or sometimes even herself, she only tries to do good and nice things for other people, especially friends. While some call her troublesome because of her meddling in some affairs or taking on too much, she really is only trying to help regardless of how many times it will backfire right back into her face.
+ Modest: Because times have become hard on everyone, Kaguya has turned very modest, if given a compliment, she'll probably just laugh it off and fire another compliment right back at you. Kaguya doesn't let compliments get to her head, and on that note, she hardly lets anything get to her. Overconfidence can lead to misfortune, she knows this much.
+ Hardworking: Kaguya is constantly working, either mentally or physically. She sticks her hands or mind into the problem at full capacity, giving every situation or whatever she’s doing her 110% always. She cannot abide by laziness or self-pity after what happened. Kaguya works hard to build something for herself and to keep it with her always, in this case it’s to keep her beloved old world alive.
- Wary: Old habits die hard, she may seem open a lot of the time, but Kaguya is actually uncomfortable and a bit paranoid most of the time as the old ways are still lingering. It’s still hard for her to trust other people, but she’s trying. Her biggest discomfort is with large crowds. She hates the jostling, the constant friction between herself and other people. Too much of a weakness, there's too many unpredictable variables. A contradicting statement in her personality. Kaguya may hate large crowds but she also hates the silence of waiting alone. It makes her antsy.
- Reserved: She is quiet a lot of the time. Kaguya keeps to herself because it keeps her out of trouble and out of everyone else's minds. There are times when she'll feel comfortable enough to simply sit around and have a conversation with some girl friends, but she’s more of a listener. While some of her friends appreciate the listening ear, it’s sometimes a lot harder than it ought to be to get information from Kaguya. She very closed lipped with those she does not know.
- Stubborn: Kaguya does not like to wield to the instructions of others, so best believe that she’s only going to do what she thinks will be best for her goals or, in some cases, her close friends. Once Kaguya has made up her mind, there is a very slim chance that anyone will ever really persuade her into changing it. You could try. She'll consider your argument, then act on her own accord. Furthermore, it is nearly impossible to shake her morals and opinions. Do not even go there. And don't think that, just because she won't argue with you, does not mean that she is conceding to anything you have to say.
Reason for Joining - There are many reasons as to why Kaguya wants to join, but her two main ones are that she heavily dislikes the everyone-is-one policy, and the foreigners she’s met thus far in her life aren't her cup of tea. They are rude, do not uphold any tradition or honor and quite frankly she is saddened by the fact that some of these people are from the future. She wants to return to the old ways desperately, and is willing to do anything and everything to do so.
Skills
Information Gathering: It's easy for people to start talking once they've had a few drinks of sake, a geisha is skilled in the art of conversation, extracting information from customers would come easily to Kaguya.
Stealing: Maybe someone needs the id of an official, maybe they need the prints left on a cup of tea. These are all things Kaguya would have easy access to, as long as she is able to smuggle out then she can do so easily.
Smuggling: Whatever can fit in the folds of her dress, or even under the dress, Kaguya is able to transport. It can be a letter to someone that she hands to someone while passing them in the hall, or maybe it's a weapon to give to someone on the inside who can't bring one of their own.
