Kathryn Dragonna
Name: Kitlin
Age: 26
Gender: female
Craft: Weavercraft, specialization – Embroidery, proficient – general sewing(clothing making) and cloth weaving
Rank: Journeywoman
History: Kitlin was born in Telgar. Her father was a stone smith and her mother was just a normal farmer’s daughter. With her mother being technically craftless and just running the household, Kitlin and her sisters were not really expected to take up a Craft themselves. Her brothers, on the other hand, were pushed to find something, and more of the laboring crafts. Growing up with a very sound division in expectations did change the way the children thought.
Kitlin and her sisters helped their mother with things around the house, washing, sewing, cooking, and whatever shopping needed done. Each of them was expected to know enough to run her own home some day, but they were not pushed to do more than that. Kitlin played some games, but she was shy to the point of awkwardness when she was young. She took to keeping to her home.
In her younger years, Kitlin’s shyness might have kept her home, but it also forced her to find things at home to entertain herself with. Sewing was one of the things she took to. Using scraps to make blankets, toys, or rather odd clothing, was fine as far as her mother was concerned, but when the girl started asking for colored threads to because she wanted to try embroidery, it was a little much.
Around the time Kitlin reached her 13th Turn, her parents decided to let her work with a local Journeyman weaver. She did decent work and with some discussion she was allowed a choice to take up the Craft and study at the Hall. Kitlin was sent to Southern Boll to study further. It was a big step for the then 15 turn old girl whom had just gotten over her shyness to some degree to go so far from home Hold.
Kitlin was not the only one of her sisters to take a Craft, but she was the first as she was the oldest daughter. Her life was a lot different in a Craft hold where there was a push for everyone no matter their gender to do well at their Craft. The culture shock for a girl that had spent most of her time hiding from the majority of other people inside her home or with the journeyman she studied under.
It took until she was 25 for Kitlin to walk the Tables and that was mostly because of the awkwardness with other people that she had to get over. Kitlin has a fair hand at most of the weavercraft, but she has a very obvious strong point in embroidery. Though her talent lies in embroidery, Kitlin forced herself to study hard in the other subcrafts as well so that it would be easier to find a posting as a journeywoman.
Appearance: Kitlin is a pale almost pasty from being inside for the majority of her craft training. She has a light sprinkling of freckles across the top of her cheeks but not on her nose. Her oval face is usually sporting bags under her eyes from stress or too little sleep. Her hair is a dark brown with a rusty high-light that is only really visible when she spends a lot of time outside. Most times her hair is kept back from her face in a tight ponytail that always seems to have a few wisps escaping it almost like it is windblown. Her hair is very fine but she has a lot of it, so this look can get quite wild if she does go out in the wind. Her eyes are a brown-green mix of hazel that often shows a yellow-brown and will show more one brown or green depending on what she is wearing.
Kitlin’s cloths are a little dark, probably because of her work with such beautiful dyes in her Craft training affecting her tastes. The majority of it is darker and deeper colors when she can afford it since she does not often have to go outside where the sun might make that more uncomfortable. She favors the rich gem colors with black for the general tones. When she has a reason to dress up such as a Gatherday, she will break out her one very richly embroidered dress that she did herself. The every day clothes usually are not embellished at all even if they are deep colors. If she gets a stain on something that cannot be removed, that piece of clothing is likely to be dyed black the next time someone sees it.
Personality:
Kitlin is usually happy to have only herself around while she’s working, but she does get that itch for other company. This does not always show as a desire to talk to others so much as it can show as her just wanting to observe others. With her natural awkwardness with other people, she usually does not know what to say to them and has to force herself to get over that twinge of shy on a regular basis or she would have no friends at all. She could be considered borderline anti-social.
Kitlin’s confidence is questionable. She knows she is good at her craft, perhaps even thinks her work is excellent, but she made a point of trying not to seem proud or overconfident of her ability. Because of this, she often comes off as a little lacking. Kitlin simply has a habit of shorting herself by over compensating for a nonexistent problem and thus makes a problem for herself.
While Kitlin can come off a little mousey and quiet at first, she at least has manners most of the time. Her polite and quiet personality is a little deceiving as it hides a much bolder, louder one. Those that get to know Kitlin will find there is a much more brash side to her that she usually keeps hidden from others. She has a daring streak that can get her into trouble, thankfully only in limited ways with as closely as she keeps herself in check with work.
Kitlin is a very loyal friend to those she does have, and has a strong sense of family that she builds around her. Her friends become a family that she can claim so far from her blood relation. She tries her best to do everything she can to help her friends that need it. She even keeps in contact with those that have moved on to other places for their postings by writing. She does not believe in abandoning a friendship over something like distance.
Other:Kitlin has never thought about the idea of Impressing. The idea of becoming a dragonrider is a completely out of comfortzone thought. She likely won't stand as a Candidate unless someone else convinces her to do so, but I may put her up as a potential if the opportunity/need arises.
Note: I would like to put her where she might best fit, if anyone has suggestions on that. I would think a bigger population would likely have more of a demand for someone in the Weavercraft, but with her specialization, please feel free to suggest a Hold/Weyr for her. I also realize the personality section might need some work as I'm not good with doing a flaws/strengths list.

while this has been submitted for staff to look over, I'd also like some input from other members of the shop.
