Random discussion - RP inspiration

SO I was thinking about this myself the other day and wanted to see what other people did.

What inspires you when you're writing RP posts? Do you find that it just flows, or do you have to work at it?

And where do you find the inspiration. Do you listen to music to get the mood started, watch a clip of your favorite anime?


I'll tell you what I do. Sometimes when I'm really rolling it almost seems as if the character is leaning over my shoulder telling me wat to say, or perhaps pacing around the room and my fingers are just flying on the keys trying my best to keep up.

I have recently taken to putting on songs from Sera Myu when RPing Sailor Moon related stories. I find it very inspiring. ^^

Of course there are those times when it's like pulling teeth, your mind comes up blank and you're just like 'Talk to me!" trying to figure out what to post for the character next. Everyone has those days too. So what helps you get out of writers block funk?

I have to say for me, most of the time things seem to flow as I rp. I tend to make sure that I know that character fairly well which seems to help. There are those times that I have to take a bit of time to formulate a response if I am unsure of what to type. For writier's block, I just try and push it out of my mind since I know sooner or later an idea will hit me that wants to be put down right away. Those are the times it seems that I don't have access to a computer or my phone.

It really flows for me. Almost as If I'm actually channeling Will. It aslo helps that he's my most used and greatest oc. I also like to make my responses fun. Like make a joke. Or a devilish idea. Though I can't seem to keep Will in an angry mood for long. Probably cuz I'm the same way.

I mostly try to get in the character's mind. What drives them? What gives them hope? What is their greatest fear?

I also look at the situation, and see what the character can contribute to (or take away from) it.
