Unforgiving Wastelands is a post apocalyptic roleplaying experience set on Helghan. The entire world has been devoured by a global epidemic and civilization has been hit by not only nature but also by demons. Your a lone survivor who was stranded from a cargo plane trying to land in the city Pherrus. The wreck left little to no survivors, most of the equipment within the plane has been destroyed, and you start with a few meager supplies that accommodates your chosen class.
The world around you is barren. The spores of Helghan release a toxic yellow gas that suffocates any living creature turning their skin pale and cracked with a black soot. The inhabitants of Helghan have grown very healthy lungs to withstand such foul air. Unfortunately for some Helghasts they still need a breathing apparatus when venturing to the "Void". The Void is where the fore fathers of Helghan created their first city and established many facilities of Research and Defense. But after so many years the Void opened up a portal to a Nether that unleashed a dark entity and summoned thousands of demonic creatures.
[Meta Gaming]
Civilization in Helghan is still active. Many of the colonists will only watch out for themselves and will help other Helghasts. Humans will be looked down upon and even killed for supplies.
If you choose to become a Helghast you get no benefit other than being a Helghast. You gain an upper hand in toxic areas, your familiar with your surroundings, you are experienced in combat, and have more Health/Endurance/Strength.
As a Human you are looked down upon and your a victim to the nature of the world. Your lungs are not adaptable to the environment and require a breathing apparatus any time you enter a environmentally hostile environment. But you do gain + 25% to overall experience earned because humans are known to be fast learners and gain a bonus to Endurance/Agility/Charisma.
Helghasts are like upgraded versions of humans, on Earth they are considered aliens. Helghasts were once humans but now are enhanced with bigger and more functional lungs to withstand "Helghas" and they are quite tall. A normal male Helghast ranges from 6-7ft tall. They are always muscular and take pride in themselves.
