Alena "The Nightingale" Neyarixxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
For awhile the entourage had traveled in silence, Nyäel occasionally sharing memories with Lyre. He showed her a lot of him flying around, back when he was learning how to ride the air. There was a number of times that Nyäel found himself on the wrong end of a down draft or even unable to break out of a strong wind. He had battled a storm and came out battered and torn, though Alena had always been there to tenderly care for him. She was in the majority of his memories, healing him, cleansing him, flying with him, and even fighting. Nyäel fondly remembered the first actual battle Alena and he had gotten into. There had been a group of Urgals who would not keep to the rules set for them, pillaging and massacring through the land. There had been a small tribe that Alena often visited that fell to the Urgals. A young mage had sent out a distress call, scrying Arya through a mirror set up at her camp. When the message was received, Alena left her training and mounted Nyäel along with another rider. Alena again was much younger, long flowing hair cascading down her back in brown ringlets. The elven lady next to her was just as beautiful, raven hair tied backward from her face. She looked very similar to Alena, and it was evident they were close. Both had expressions of fury upon their faces, and even Nyäel and the other dragon seemed furious. Nyäel was much smaller and gangly compared to himself now. The other dragon was a milky white, with icy blue eyes and blue spikes down its neck. The two pairs set off in the night towards where the tribe had been. Once they had arrived it was simple enough to track the Urgals down and destroy them. Alena and her companion had indeed received wounds, but were alive and whole.

Alena's anxiety continued to grow the entire time, even when she spotted the first elf to pop out from the trees. The singing and appraisals came once more, and Alena continued to make her way towards the Queen's lodgings. The surrounding area was utterly beautiful, every edifice crafted straight out of the trees. The elves that emerged all gave their blessings and honored the group as they normally would. Before long, Nyäel and the larger dragons would be unable to travel through the city without wreaking havoc. Alena walked to Nyäel who lowered his head. She placed a hand on him and touched her forehead to his before he moved to a clearing and took off into the air. Alena herself lead the party onward to the Queen

Gunnarr "Dagnirslayer" Gherlonssonxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Gunnarr walked, or power walked, after Alena and the Gem Dragon, Astrid behind him. Honestly, he felt uncomfortable. The trees mostly. He was more at ease around rocks, on mountains, on the seas, or even in big cities. But here he felt isolated by the absurd amount of trees that walled off his range of vision in every direction. What was worst is that he had to rely on elves. What if they wanted to just lead him in circles? Or into a false floor that resulted in him falling into some word-tosser boiling him alive? He doubted that they would do such to a companion of their 'Nightengale', but a dwarf in elven territory should always be cautious. He could not curse, or spit, or any of his normal habits. That was probably a worse condition than the bloody trees.

One thing did snap him out of his thoughts: a bird chirp. Well, a series of such, in a mini bird song. After it rang out, Gunnarr rose his index finger and thumb up to his mouth and whistled in the same pitches and patterns the bird used. Soon, multiple birds, potentially a flock of them that were seeking proper shelter. He whistled again, then grinned. It was a song he had heard many times on the island he now called home. It turned out old dwarves could learn new tricks. The event caused one of the elves to question if dwarves could obtain soft hearts. Gunnarr grunted and continued, not replying, but if it were not for his facial hair, the redess of his cheeks would be completely obvious.

Doral "Blackheart" Kinxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Doral was nodding off an on constantly on the back of his ally, plagued by his own thoughts. He was hardy, and he was good for keeping his mind locked on his goal. It, however, only took one stray thought of his lsot one for him to go diving into a spiral of grief. In order to cope, he was trying to get sleep. He wasn't going to be up and about like the other two on the way there, not when the very smell of the land brought him back to that day. Drogo... He began as he came out of another one of his cat-naps. The large dragon grunted in response and slowed his pace a little. How much farther? he asked becoming slowly more and more alert. Drogo looked ahead, rearing his head up higher than it had been inorder to see better in the brush. Hell if I know, The dragon responded slowly. Doral yawned and stretched, trying to wake himself fully, and pushed away all of his thoughts of... her.

Alena he thought after reaching out to the girl with his typical hardy and tough exterior on, though it had softer, more plush edges for the head of the group. How much longer my friend? I'm sure our dwarven ally is eager to not be near the trees. He joked pushing the thought to him as well. As long as they had been riders and friends, he's known two things about Gunarr. He likes falling, and hates trees. Drogo sent out a friendly connection to Astrid as well, now that he wasn't so worried about his rider's sadness. It must be hard being so small, especially when the trees are at your nostrils. he joked playing on the smaller dragon's size.

XXXThough the group would travel in silence towards the heart of the mystical forest of Du Weldenvarden, the same could not be said in the minds of Lyre and Nyäel. Through their bond, the gem dragon would occasionally share memories with the young (young compared to dragons) were-raven. Lyre would find much joy in watching the memories of Nyäel as he first learned to ride the air. Though this, Lyre felt like she may be able to learn to properly fly as well. Comparing the memories with her own practices and what her guardian said, Lyre could see where the two had went wrong in their self teachings.

In these memories, Alana would be a common occurrence and Lyre was shown even more proof of their strong bond. Their bond was something that touched Lyre deeply and it impressed her how well the two connected. She's been told of riders that did not bond well with their dragons and met their end. Theirs was not such a case; instead, they were almost so closely bonded that it reached a rarity.

The one that left a really strong impression on Lyre would be the one of their first actual battle. She would watch as a distress call was sent and Alana would leave her training and mount Nyäel along and take off to deal with the treat along with another rider. This other rider looked very similar to Alena and the two appeared close. The battle was intense and it ended with the Urgals destroyed. 'Hm...wonder where that other rider is now...?' Such thoughts she kept to herself, seeing now as not the time to question such things.

They had reached far enough into the forest for them to be considered within the boundaries of Ellesméra and no sooner had the first elf appeared, did more follow. The group was now surrounded by singing and appraisals and much more. Immediately captivated by the scenery around her, Lyre would remain silent and transmit only her wonder and amazement at the beauty that was the Elven Capital. Lyre's fascination would cause her to momentarily loose track of her surroundings and it wasn't until the great Gem Dragon took to the skies did she realize she was looking down at the tree tops for the second time. The first being when her guardian used her magic to send her away to a secure location away from the attacking Urgals.

Letting out a squawk in excitement, Lyre would finally speak out to Nyäel through their link after a long silence
"Nyäel, skulblaka ramr abr vindr (strong dragon of air), this air-sister thanks you for taking her up into the great sky. The sight from up high and wind against my feathers is a liberating experience." Talons securely gripping onto Nyäel, Lyre would take caution to not grip to hard to avoid hurting or creating an itch for the great dragon. Crouched low, the small raven would continue to marvel at the sight of the great forest below.

Alena "The Nightingale" Neyarixxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Nyäel flapped once, propelling his great body forward. He cut through the air like a knife, the wind flowing smoothly about his body. Nyäel knew he was the strongest predator out in the skies. Not a bird for a mile would dare fly near him. He was a magnificent beast, the sunlight glinting brilliantly off of his scales. A low hum set his body to vibrating lightly as he flew. It is a great sorrow that you may not share the sky with me. You must learn to fly. To rule the sea as leviathan's do is one thing, but the sea-dwellers dominion has an end. To rule the land as kings and queens do is another, but lands have an end... Nyäel said as he swung his tail to the left, changing directions. For a moment he remained silent as he tilted his great body, letting the winds push up one wing and push down the other. But to rule the skies...that is the greatest joy... Nyäel had not limited his thoughts to only Lyre, but to any being that may have been within a mile radius of him.

Alena had quietly led the procession forth, right up to the Queen's hall. Before she arrived the queen in all her immaculate glory stepped forth from the hall. The Queen was tall and slim, just as any other elf, but somehow seemed much more graceful and beautiful. She had smooth pale skin and a lovely face, outlined with long raven-colored hair. Her eyes were green and slanted over high cheek bones. She wore a tunic of deep green, intricate patterns of silver decorating her bodice. Her leggins were brown and ended at knee-high leather boots. A sword with an emerald in its hilt and a green scabbard was belted to her waist. The Queen had been about to bow deeply, but Alena did so before her. She twisted her hand over her sternum and lowered her head to the queen before speaking. "Atra esterní ono thelduin, Arya-elda. (May good fortune rule over you, Arya [with great appraisal])." Queen Arya did the same motion of her hand, returning the blessings in kind to all three of the riders, and asking for the message to be sent to their respective dragons as well. Alena even went so far as to finish the blessing, speaking the words in the Ancient Language. "Atra du evarínya ono varda. (May the stars watch over you.)" The Queen humbly smiled and looked at each of the riders in turn before speaking to them.

"Welcome home, Alena-Nightingale and Doral Kin." The Queen Arya had enough tact to leave out Doral's famous name of 'Blackheart'. Her last address was to Gunnarr."Greetings, Gunnar-elda. Give my regards to your nephew. Let us move past these formalities, they are overwhelming." Arya turned to the door she had come from and motioned for the group to follow. Once inside, the three companions would find themselves in a banquet hall, with a feast already laid out. There seemed to be every type of fruit or vegetable, but of course no meat. "Surely you've all need of rest and replenishment. I apologize to you, Gunnarr-elda. I am sure you understand our choice to abstain from the flesh of our fellow beings. Let us eat while we talk." Arya sat at the head of the table and waited for the others to be seated. The Queen did not eat, only waited.

Alena knew it would be rude to deny the food, thus she picked up a ripe fruit and cut it with a knife. She took a bite and swallowed before speaking. "Arya-elda, we have come from the Dragon Den at the request of Eragon-elda." The alarm was evident in Arya's eyes, but it only flashed for a moment. Her body remained still as a statue, as only an elf could. "There is a great danger growing in Alagaësia. The twin Dragons have foreseen the uncovering of a lurking darkness. The dwarves will unearth it, and it will herald the end of the elves. We have been sent to stop this evil." Arya was silent for a long time time, until she leaned forward and laced her fingers together.
"The Dwarves mean to harness this...power?" Arya said, directing her words to Gunnarr.

Salem, Son of None
"Just flying through life..."
User Image

...And so he entered. Salem, son of none... A boy in a city of those older, wiser, and more powerful than he could comprehend. He marveled at the feeling of calm he felt here as he simply moved forward... in spite of the calm he couldn't help but feel grossly out of place...conspicuous to say the least...

He had no Idea which way Alena and those with her had gone so he just moved forward hoping to find some indication of where to go. He wondered what kind of place this was... what kind of people it's inhabitants were.

He pushed those distracting thoughts out of his head...for once in his life he had a clear and defined goal that didn't involve throwing himself at an Urgal face first....not that it was any wiser. Regardless of the wisdom of this path he continued on hoping to at least notice a glimpse of Nyäel... barring that he'd just keep moving forward...for now...

"...waiting to dive one last time.

Gunnarr "Dagnirslayer" Gherlonssonxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Astrid agreed to Nyäel's speech. I know what it is to be a winged beast and not be able to own the skies. Dagnir had wounded her, tore at her wing flaps before. This had grounded her for a couple of weeks, and during that time she almost ached to fly again. She appeared beside the Gem-Dragon silently, gliding gracefully The sky is not limited to a single body, but connects then entire world. To truly master it is to gain access to what normal beasts cannot. She rolled and flipped once, then returned to the Gem-Dragon, half showing off. It is not an easy or complicated art, and you seem to be an intelligent one. You'll get it, and we'll help. Right, Nyäel? Her tone seemed to insist that she was finally speaking with authority.

Gunnarr could hear her response and shook his head. Astrid was a female, and when it came to women and men, the man could either be right, or he could be happy. The honorific of 'elda' did not effect the dwarf as he might have thought. Compared to most of the beings around him, he was indeed quite young. So he merely looked off to the side as the group followed the queen. She seemed.... more natural now rather than his first time in the area. She seemed more tense and slightly annoyed before. For one, she was not being forced to wear a dress, which made Gunnarr grin. She looked more natural in more common clothing.

In the banquet hall, the dwarf bypassed all of the people present and headed straight for the food. But once he was within inches of grabbing a piece, he hesitated. Horrible memories surfaced, and he replaced his hand back to his side. He would not be fooled again. "No worries, missy. Mine stomach is less empty than usual." He almost let out a nervous chuckle, but he suppressed it. However, once he sat after leaning his hammer on the table, he noticed the Queen did not eat, so he felt less odd. Then the question came. So it was time to lay everything down that he knew. "I'll speak plainly: I don't honestly know." He crossed his arms and leaned back. "I usually kept up to date what was happening in his home, encase I was needed to handle family business. However, the last letter I received was three months ago. Mine nephew was quick with writing, so it does give me concern. So as of right now, I have no idea what mine kin plans to do with this power, or even where it came from or from what form. But I will say this: Mine duty comes from being a Rider first, Dwarf second. If it is a danger, I will destroy it, be it a fancy stone or some hellspawn. Mine nephew should have the same views: if it's a danger to his kin, he will eliminate it. We might be young compared to elves, but old dwarves don't have patience and don't take kindly to annoyances." He grunted and pounced his fist against his chest. It was a dwarven thing, like a self-pump up.

Doral "Blackheart" Kinxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Even though he rarely did so, Doral had left his mind open, and it was then for the first time that he noticed the were-creature in their midst, as well as Nyael's words, thoughts, and the power behind them. He smirked and rubbed Drogo's head. The mighty dragon bent at the legs, and then leaped into the air, giving one massive flap that made the trees blow to his will and got him airbourne. He got to a certain altitude high above the other dragons and spread his entire wingspan. The wind pushed against his wings as he glided in a downward spiral and he listened to Astrid's words. I tend to try and just enjoy being able to go higher than most creatures even dream of. I don't pretend to rule it, or even want to be king of the skies. Drogo said, not in contrast, but as a different opinion. Just a different view through the same glass. He has a fine point, though, Doral commented on Nyael's. But as we all know... he said leaping from hsi head as they reached their destination. Gath, Deloi! he called out, his body falling to the ground suddenly with directness and a mystical edge. He was an intelligent man with a good grasp on magic and as such, he was able to fall the entire way without being harmed.

As the queen greeted him, he knew that she would be aware of his lack of civilization. Rather than go through what they did, he placed his right fist into his left palm, bowed to the queen and then rose again with a respectful look to him. He didn't speak but he did follow them into the hall and sat at the table, listening to them speak. He leaned on his arm after biting half of an apple off and viciously rending it between his jaws. He took a sip of his water as Gunnarr spoke and seconded it with his signature grunt. It is no secret that I bear little good-will to my people for personal reasons, Doral began loudly. But there is no way in hell I'm going to let an entire race be eradicated, much less my own. He said. There has never been a problem the three of us couldn't solve. All else fails, just drop Gunnarr and I on the problem and like so many times before we will prevail. He said dismissing the queens fear and worries. He grabbed a handfull of grapes, and began to eat them, waiting for the reaction of the others to his approach.
