 ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander took a breath. This was going to be tough. He hadn't really talked about...that night...since it happened. "Well, this matriarch, while she wasn't concerned really with what others were doing, was very concerned with how they interacted with our kind." He said. He paused, remembering how things were before he'd met Danny. "Casual interactions were alright by her, and she wasn't worried about how the other party ended up. Like I said, she was the matriarch of all clans, even the bad ones. We could harm whomever we wanted to, sleep with whomever appealed to us, use them however we wanted. We could basically, by her rules, do whatever we wanted with the others as long as it wasn't a permanent thing." He explained. He figured she was probably horrified by this idea, but it was the truth, and he was already keeping enough from her.
"Mind you, not every one of us did these things, we were simply allowed. It was mostly those bad clans I mentioned before." He said, at least wanting to reassure her that the world he'd come from wasn't absolutely terrible. He stood still for a moment before sitting. He stared at his interlaced fingers on the counter rather than looking at Danny as he thought of how he was going to talk about things without falling apart. He didn't think he cold actually look into her face and tell her about her own death. Rasiel made his way over, leaning against Alexander's shoulder. He spared the small fox a smiling glance before taking another deep breath. "And for the longest time, I was fine with these rules." He began again.
"I didn't pay attention to what was happening with the others because they weren't us. They weren't a part of our world, so to speak, what did it matter what happened to them? I thought this way right up until one crossed over into my world." He took another deep breath, toying with his fingers. "She was...beautiful, pure. At the time she was lost, she'd never been that far into the woods where I ran into her and in the fading light she was having a rather hard time making her way back to anywhere she recognized. She knew what I was, at least by the time she made it out of the woods, that was clear. She knew where I hailed from, what my people were like, but I was her best bet on making it out of the woods that night without running into one of the bad clans." He said, remembering that night fondly. She'd been wary of him, kept her knife close, and intrigued him immensely.
"So, with some toying at her expense, I led her out of the woods unharmed and intended to go on with my life unchanged. However, she stuck with me. The following day I thought of her often, her face remained in my mind, and I believe by the following evening, though I didn't know it at the time, I was entirely and irrevocably in love with the woman." He ran a hand through his hair with a small smile. "I don't know if she felt the same way right away or if she was simply curious, but she returned that evening. And a great many more. We were together for quite some time before the matriarch found out."
Alexander paused for quite some time, almost as though he didn't intend on speaking any more. However, after a time, he continued on quietly. "It was summer when she came to me and told me that our love had gone on long enough and she intended to take care of it. I went to my love and told her of the matriarch's feelings. We were trying to figure out what to do about it when we were attacked. Normally the matriarch wasn't so quick to deal with things like that, but apparently because I came from her favorite clan, she decided to handle things that evening. My young love took safety in her home, where she should have been protected, while I led our attackers off." Again, Alexander paused. It was clear he was struggling. His hands were clenched and he was shaking, his hair obscuring his down-turned face. "But the matriarch was counting on that. She somehow knew that my love's home was protected and, while we dealt with our initial attackers, she somehow dismantled my loves safety measures." A tear dripped to the counter and Alexander wiped his face slowly. "I heard her scream for me...As I reached her, the matriarch ran a blade through her chest. I couldn't save her. The blade had pierced both her heart and her lungs. She bled out in my arms." Alexander said, his voice quiet and deadpan. There was silence for another long while as the scene replayed in Alexander's mind. "Afterward..." He said slowly. "There was nothing I could do against the matriarch, so I came here. I believe she has given up on reclaiming me." He finished.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ Noted Musician Ahh crap, I meant INconspicuous last post >w<

 Daиιelle ⋯ ReιиhaяdtPlease, call me Danny. █ ▆ ▅ ▃ ▂ ▂ ▃ ▅ ▆ █━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ Danielle took in what Alexander was saying slowly. Sentence by sentence. No matter what came out of his mouth, she tried her best to not shove it away as crazy or insane, no matter how bizarre it felt to believe it all to be true. It couldn't ALL be true, right? She felt bad for thinking that way, but she couldn't help it. He's gotta be joking, she thought, her eyes narrowing when he touched on the girl who he knew before. She would admit it to herself, she felt a pang of jealousy at the thought of Alexander with another girl, but she wrote it off as a normal reaction for any girl with a crush to have. As he continued speaking, she felt her head begin to ache, and she wasn't sure why. She seemed to almost always get headaches around Alexander. It was like her body was trying to tell her something, to help her figure something out, but she was so dead pan lost as to why. She soaked in as much as she could, willing to keep her mouth shut while he spoke. Several times she wanted to ask questions, but his expression or the tone of his voice would stop her. He seemed so... vulnerable. Like she could poke him and he'd fall over. He spoke so tenderly and so meaningfully, she was having an even harder time believing it all to be true, like she so hoped it all wasn't. What he was talking about... it was a little on the brutal side. Clans, fighting, secrets... it was some deep stuff. And as he kept going, her head continued aching. Her face softened when he finished with the death of his loved one, but she remained silent for a few minutes, not sure where to begin. It was still a few more moments before she decided to speak. "...and you came here when you were, like, fifteen, right?" she asked, still trying to piece things together. Her voice came out weaker than she expected it to be. She cleared her throat quietly, her eyes steady on his face, his green eyes still fairly distracting.━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ OUTFIT -- [ x ]

 ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander was quiet for a while, stone-still, as he seemed to process all of what he'd said himself. It was so long ago, yet the memories were fresh in his mind. The smell of the summer air, the pain as he fought, her blood soaking his arms and chest as he ran with her in his arms, her life rapidly leaving her body- "Yes, I came here when I was younger." Alexander replied quietly, finally leaning up and wiping an arm across his eyes again. He tried to buck up some, consoling himself with the fact that she was here now, but he was feeling oddly exhausted.
He finally looked up at her face and smiled wryly. "You don't believe me." He said. It wasn't a question, but a statement. He sighed, running a hand down his face tiredly. "Those are your answers, believe it or not. You may not have noticed, but the world I'm familiar with is vastly different than the one you're accustomed to." He said, attempting to joke. It wasn't all that convincing. ╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Hearing his voice again, but not so pained, made her snap a little back to reality. "No, I -uh, no, I believe you..." she said slowly, even hearing the disbelief in her voice. She frowned, wanting to help him, but not sure how. That, and she was having some trouble focusing with her head pounding like it was. "I -I know. And... I want to believe you." She was having so much trouble getting the words out. Seeing him like this was so very odd, and she wasn't sure what she could do to help, other than offer to help. She hesitantly put a hand over his, hoping it was enough to at least show that she was trying.━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ OUTFIT -- [ x ]

 ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander held her hand for a moment before he stood and retrieved a beautiful teapot, one of apparently many that he'd stashed all about the shop. He brought it to the counter and began boiling water. From there, he silently pulled out a few chamomile flowers, some lemon balm, some feverfew, some skullcap, a few passion flowers, and a little ginger root. Instead of having to deal with straining the tea, Alexander simply tied these up in a small sachet and, once the water was ready, dropped it into the teapot.
Alexander rested his head on his folded arms on the counter as the tea steeped, mentally timing it in silence. When he'd decided it was done, he fished the dripping sachet out of the tea and set it aside before looking through his drawers. He pulled out a small sugar bowl that didn't really match, -but maybe kinda sorta did- before pouring the steaming tea into the cups. "For calmness and headaches." He said, feeling his own head beginning to thump uncomfortably, as he was sure hers was. He retrieved two small spoons, plopped a few little sugar cubes in his tea, and began stirring it both to dissolve the sugar and allow it to cool. For a moment, he wished it were something stronger.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

She picked up the small spoon from the sugar bowl and followed Alexander's example. She picked up a few sugar cubes and let them slip into her cup. She took a small sniff of the tea before sipping it slowly, sip by sip. She finally looked up at Alexander, watching his red eyes carefully. Her face was smoothed over now, despite her now pounding head ache. Her eyes sunk a little, she felt horrible about not being able to help. She'd never seen him so deflated and defeated looking. "Alexander..." she started, not sure what to exactly say. Only one thing came to mind when she thought of what she could do to comfort him. It was a little... straightforward... but it might at least help "I honestly don't know how I can help," she said, "But I really want to. I don't care what I have to do, it's just really hard for me to sit here and see you like this." She sat next to him, her eyes pained at the sight. She watched him sip from his own cup before she set her cup down, its steam rising slowly. Her hand slipped into his again before she leaned in and placed a light but lingering peck on his cheek. She only leaned back slightly, just enough to catch his reaction, hoping but not holding out for if it helped.━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ OUTFIT -- [ x ]

 ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander watched quietly as Danny moved to sit next to him, sipping his hot tea. By then, his eyes had gone back to their usual grey. As she sat next to him, he watched out the window as the sun sank below the horizon, taking it's last golden rays with it and leaving the sky a deep purple in its wake. He didn't actually look at her until she kissed him. To his own surprise, a small, soft smile slipped onto his face.
"Ah, love." He sighed, wrapping an arm around her waist in order to gently pull her closer and leaning against her. "You're already helping more than you know." He said, closing his eyes. It was true. While he was still pained over the past, she was here now, and there was no one trying to take her from him or harm her in any way that he knew of. "It will be dark soon, we should get you home. Unless you'd rather stay here for the evening, that's alright as well." He said, his tone soothed and tired. It was quite clear that, while he appreciated the kiss, he wasn't feeling exactly amorous. ╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

When he mentioned the time, her eyes finally darted to the clock on the wall, and she realized that she had been there for quite awhile. She turned back to Alexander. "Do you think you need some time to yourself?" she asked out of politeness, her eyes big and watchful. Maybe that was the best thing for him right now. He had just let her in on a huge part of his past, and that could affect different people on various levels. It simply depended on how he felt. "I'll do whatever you need me to do. I'll go if you want."━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ OUTFIT -- [ x ]

 ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander thought about it for a moment. "I think...in all honesty, I would very much like you to stay here tonight, if it is not too much trouble. I'm feeling...well...rather fragile." He said, seeming to have a hard time actually admitting it. "I believe having some company may help remedy this." He explained, watching the sun continue to set. He furrowed his brow, mild agitation rising past whatever else he was feeling.
Alexander didn't like feeling fragile. It led to his feeling weak, and then led to dark thoughts about that night so long ago. Even now, he found himself holding Danny even tighter to him, as though he needed to protect her from something. He shook his head slightly and stood. "Of course, if you can't, or would rather not, it is absolutely understandable." He added, going to close the blinds on the storefront windows.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

She truly enjoyed spending time with him, but she didn't want to push him any farther than she already had. She paused a moment, thinking about her behavior. Her small smile disappeared. Maybe she had pushed him a little too far. She wanted answers, she was yearning for them, but maybe she hadn't gone about it the right way. She looked back up at Alexander then, who was closing the blinds. "No, it's okay. I'll stay," she said, spinning in her chair to face him. Without realizing, a hand had started twisting a strand of her hair, her eyes set on him. "Let me just call my mom, let her know." She hopped lightly from her seat then, turning behind the counter to grab her purse. It finally dawned on her that she didn't have her purse. It was still at her house with all her other things. And of course she hadn't grabbed it because last night had been a rather... surprising turn of events. "On second thought, do you have a phone I could use?" The thought of her worried parents continued to nag at the back of her mind. They were probably worried sick. She had left last night without a word, but it wasn't like she had planned to be kidnapped. And she had spend the whole day with Alexander.━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ OUTFIT -- [ x ]

 ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander locked the door and turned. "I do, it's down here." He said, coming back around the counter. He knelt and opened a counter and began pushing aside all manner of metallic sounding things. "However, as you can imagine, I don't often receive phone calls, so..." He said. After a moment, he rose again. "I don't believe it's as old as it appears. Evanna brought it to me saying it fit the shop, but it connects to modern phone lines. Though she could have done something to it." He explained, placing an ancient-looking telephone on the counter. "Do you know how to use a rotary?"
~~~
As Danny made her phone call, Alexander finished closing up the shop. He moved plants away from the windows and picked dead leaves off of a few here and there. He headed back towards Danny as he heard her finish her phone call and hang up in order to grab a broom. However, he ended up grabbing Danny instead as he heard the lock click open with a hiss. A second later the door flew open and a great deal of dark fog poured into the room, blocking out the light for a moment. However, as the smoke reached them, Alexander relaxed and audibly sighed. "You let them in once and they think they can just come in whenever they like." He said.
A mischievous laughter sounded from the gaseous mist as it swirled around them, but it didn't attempt to settle but instead closed in closer around them. In response, Alexander pulled Danny a little closer and held up a hand. "I'm in no mood for your dramatic unwelcome entrance, Marquis." He said, and a bright light rose in his hand. The miasma drew away from it quickly and began to gather densely above the counter. Alexander dispelled the light and the smoke seemed to explode, revealing a young man seated atop the counter, legs crossed beneath him with a slight frown.
"No fun. You're no fun!" He exclaimed, before breaking out into a fanged smile that reached his inhuman eyes."Apparently someone's been naughty here!" The man, Marquis, sang, leaning forward and letting his legs hang down. Alexander furrowed his brows. "What do you mean?" He asked, but Marquis ignored him in favor of eyeing Danny slowly. In another surge of smoke, Marquis was standing directly before Danny. "So this is her, yeah? She's a cutie, I can definitely see why you'd guard her so jealously." He purred before Alexander hooked an arm around him and yanked Marquis back over in front of him. "One, stay away from her. Two, tell me what you're talking about or you will leave." Alexander growled. Marquis held his hands up, still grinning though he nibbled at one of his lip rings. "Relax, 'xander, I haven't bitten anyone in a few years now. Well, I mean, not anyone who wouldn't be better off dead, but y'know. I'm a damned upstanding citizen!" He said. "And besides, I'd rather not be choked out too, so I just stopped by to let you know there's a bit of gossip goin' around about youuuu..." He said, clasping his hands behind his back and taking wide, stiff, innocent steps away from the two of them. "But y'know, you're being kind of rude yourself, sunny-boy. Aren't you supposed to make introductions?" He asked. Alexander gave Marquis a look, wordlessly admonishing him for focusing on something so trivial, but turned to Danny all the same. "Danny, this is Marquis King. Marquis, Danny." Marquis waved innocently, though he continued showing off his fangs. "I'm not as bad as he's going to tell you I am." He said sweetly.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ Noted Musician ((SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO REPLY!!!!
