after sliding half way down the chimney Mantel's feet suddenly hit a cold metal grate... the chimney had been blocked. Frustrated he hadn't thought of that and a little panicked he began to climb back up out of the chimney. Going up was harder and he had to be extra careful not to make any noise or mess. Back on the roof he sat panting for a few minutes before having another look around. At the back of the building was a bolted door and a strongly grated window, above it on the second floor was another window slighting ajar to let in a breeze. He'd be taking a risk, there were no obvious paths to the window and no way back if it was jammed but he was running out of options and if the window could be opened some more he could get inside
