I'm gonna fight for what's right
Today I'm speaking my mind
And if it kills me tonight
(I will be ready to die)
Today I'm speaking my mind
And if it kills me tonight
(I will be ready to die)

Zaik had been watching the entire time. Carefully following behind Yang as he headed in the direction of what seemed like the corner store. The night seemed calm, but for their town, perhaps a little too calm. There were usually at least one or two ruffians out, or at least a group if not more then one of them roaming the streets. A scent had hit him awhile back, and it set him on edge, but he didn't quite catch a negative from it so he wasn't too on guard. Not to say that he wasn't on guard at all, because he was always a little tense, just waiting for something to go wrong.
That's when it did. He noticed that Yang was following the faint sound of a women crying, or at least, that's what it sounded like at that moment to him, until he caught the edge to it that suggested it was a ruse. The wolf tensed, and within him, he could feel for once in a long time, the actual spirit of the beast coil in his stomach. Frowning slightly he ducked behind a wall, only peering around the corner enough to see what happened next. If he had to, he would jump in and save the boy, but until he was sure it was a ruse...
Everything crumbled apart before him before he had time to even think of moving. A man grabbed Yang, had him pinned to a wall, but within the next instant, was flying across the alley and into a wall. There was only one real thing that Zaik knew could do that, and that was a werewolf. Especially one that had no control of it's spirit. Once again, he readied himself for a fight, and the need to calm down the raging wolf, but as he was about to reach them, it seemed the spirit of the wolf had calmed itself down. It led the body, still seemingly human to him except for a few things that wouldn't be noticeable unless one really looked, towards the store and entered it. Zaik now decided that it would be best to make his way back to the apartment, since he knew now that he would be fine, even if not in the best way.
He couldn't let Yang catch him out there. Swiftly, he climbed up the side of the building he was leaning against, and silently leaped from rooftop to rooftop till he was back at the apartment building. Dropping down next to it, he headed inside and made his way back to the room. He was pretty sure he was cutting it close and that Yang wasn't too far behind him, but he was sure enough that he had made it back before the boy. The rooftops were much quicker and a lot less noticeable. Over the years, Zaik had found he preferred night time travel that way over the sidewalks that left him in the open with no covering at all.
Once in the room, he swiftly closed the door and slid back onto the couch. However he did not close his eyes, and instead chose to lay there facing the back of the furniture with them open. He would remain that way until Yang found his way into the room, and then...well he wasn't exactly sure what he was going to do or say, but he could at least confront him about leaving the way he had in the middle of the night.
Sighing, he curled up a little more, preparing himself for whatever may occur. Though, he figured he might not want to bring it up right away, that late at night, and that he may want to wait till morning, but he was so unsure. He would have to figure something out quickly.

It's just another war
Just another family torn
Just a step from the edge
Just another day in the world we live
