The race is off and we pull out to the street
I take over 5 others but I’m still going
I will go larger and faster, will not be beat
This has happened many times before
Everytime
they shut the door
The wind is speeding fast and the track is cold
I’m pulling ahead but the others are good
And this competition is getting old
We come to an abrupt stop
Some of my companions fly off the track
I look down and watch them plop
I start falling down, then we start up again
The race is going strong and we are all growing
Fighting till the bitter end
I am now coming close to the edge,
Then when I think I’m there
Someone pulls ahead
Now I guess that I know
I’ll never be the fastest raindrop,
On the car window
