Once a beautiful castle filled with beauty and peace, the home of the White Queen is now in ruins. The windows of the ballroom are shattered. The chandelier lays on the floor broken. All things that were once so beautiful there are now broken and forgotten. The only signs of life in this once bright castle are the few goblins that serve the White Queen Gwenifer, Star the white Fox, and the small garden that Lady Gwenifer had managed to create without the Black King gaining knowledge of it. Feel free to visit the fallen White Queen in her home, and she will gladly help you. The castle is now used to help those that are sick, injured, or in need of rest.

Dark chilly water crashing against the surf and rushing forward, as if reaching out for the swords women. The froth at the tip of the waves curling over and pounding into the white earth below. The sound the ocean produced was loud but comforting. Jericho rested her right hand against the grip of her onyx colored blade and adjusted her weight against a breeze that blew along the water's edge. She often came here to think, or just clear her head. Now she dwelled here because she had no task to complete or favor to return. Though she did have many favors she could request, but for the time being she didn't need them.
She allowed her mind to wander, contemplating the current state of Underland. Jericho had no hatred for the Black King, she saw him as just another ruler. And as for the change in Underland; Anyone had the ability to change their surroundings, though not to the extent of the King of course. But you control your own actions and thus shape the immediate space around you. She had come to this conclusion after assesing her own involvement in Underland. Jericho had taken control of her situation and improved it, despite those who would try to hold her back. She had assistance from the white royal guard, but she still put the change in motion all her own; it was her determination to survive.
A wave crashed much closer to her, the water sloshing up the beach and rushing around her thick boots. She looked down and watched tiny bubbles float past once, then twice as the receded back into the massive body of water. She knew she couldn't stay here forever, but also wasn't quite sure were to go from here. The expanse of Underland already knew the souls of her shoes. Maybe it was time to return to where it all started. The empty cottage not to far from this ocean, and even closer to the White Queen's Castle.
It was a short walk and uneventful. Jericho found herself at the entrance to the dilapidated stone castle. Despite the change, the stone remained a soft white. She could feel the life that hung in the hair, though it was fragile. She took the steps one at a time; no need for any hurry. There was also no need for her to knock or make her presence known in any obvious way. Lady Gwenifer would probably feel her arrival. However, she had to admit, Jericho wasn't sure where the Lady of the Castle would reside at this hour. So the mercenary waited at the top of the staircase in the center of a small courtyard before the large doors of the structure. "I hope she hasn't wandered away." her voice inquired the empty expanse around her.▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀

Gwenifer, or Gwen as she was more often called, woke up in her hidden garden in the White Castle. She had spent most of the night working on harvesting wildflowers and tying them up to dry so that they could be used as antidotes and such for those who visited her home. Yawning some, she sat up and noticed that she was covered with a blanket and had a pillow under her head. "One of the goblins must have thought I was cold and brought these to make me more comfortable." She thought as she stood up and folded the blanket and picked up the pillow before heading to her bedroom to get ready for the day.
After bathing, getting dressed, and brushing out her snowy white hair, she began to wander to the dining hall for some breakfast, wondering how Marli, her darling daughter, was doing. It had been some time since she was last able to go see her, so a visit was definitely in order.
While making her way down the halls, she noticed tell-tell sound of heavy boots hitting the ground and smiled softly. She had sensed her the moment she stepped foot in the castle, so she was not alarmed. With a smile, the former White Queen made her way to the doors of the small courtyard of the second level of her home. The goblins had already gotten to the door and were awaiting her orders to open the door. With a simple nod, she told the goblins to open the doors and smiled when she saw the young woman before her.
"Welcome back to the castle, Jericho." Gwen said as she walked to the young mercenary and hugged her. "Do come in. I was just about to go to breakfast and I would love if you were to join me. What brings you to this side of Underland, Dear?" She asked as she took Jericho's hand and started to lead her to the dining hall while the goblins closed the door. Only moments after the door was closed was the sound of Star, the white fox that was Gwen's pet, running heard as the fox jumped on Jericho and started to lick her face. Star was awfully fond of the young mercenary and this had become her normal greeting to her.

The Mercenary had not come across any in her travels, though that did not mean that flowers were nonexistent here. In fact, if they existed anywhere, it would be here. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeper, drawing in more of the sweet sent. They reminded her of home, her home before Underland. The sent was very similar to that of honey suckles which grew in large winding vines around her parents property. She used to live on a large plot of land where she and her family did some small farming. Jericho always loved picked the fresh peaches and sinking her teeth into them. Thinking of her home made her wonder if her parents would be proud of her...
A scrapping noise of wood on stone brought her back. She smiled as Lady Gwenifer approached her and wrapped her in a warm embrace. Jericho hugged her back and allowed the Queen to lead her inside. "Thank you, It's nice to finally be back." The offer for food was tempting. "Actually yes, I would love something to eat."
Before the young women could say anymore a white fox lovingly pounced against her shoulders. Jericho caught Star and started to scratch behind her ears, chuckling from the fox's persistent licking. She tried to dodge Star's tongue and managed to avoid most of the slobber. "It's good to see you too Star"
She started walking again towards the dining room, which if she remembered correctly was used as a ballroom on celebrations. Though that last one was quite some time ago. As they entered the hall, Jericho answered the Queen's last question. "I have been all over Underland, and decided to come back to where I originally gained my title." She paused as her train of thought continued. "But I am also curious to the current state of Underland. I have heard whispers...Well I guess I feel a shift might take place."But she followed up her outer thoughts with a question. "Speaking of shifts, how is your daughter; her mental state is the same?"

Gwen smiled when Jericho agreed to join her for breakfast. Though she often had visitors, many of those being creatures that were injured or ill, having company for the sake of just company was nice. When Star pounced on the young woman with her, Gwen couldn't help but giggle at the sight. "My little Star has missed you, Dear. She still remembers that you were the one that brought her to me when she was a baby and injured." She said smiling fondly at the memory. The fox laid across Jericho's shoulders and licked her cheek as if agreeing to what the White Queen had said.
She continued to walk with the young mercenary as they spoke and smiled when Jericho thought it a good idea to return to where she gained her title. "You are correct, Dear. I believe that a shift is to take place. I have felt it as well as heard many whispers from those that come here." She smiled softly when asked about her daughter and nodded sadly. "Yes, sadly. I am afraid her mental state is still the same. I still have March, the March Hare, watching over her, so I have little worries. I am actually planning on visiting her soon. You could join me if you would like. I am sure she would be happy to see you."
They had just entered the dining hall and Gwen took her place at the table and gestured to the spot beside her. "Tell me of your travels and what you have been up to since you were last here. Oh, and do you need any antidotes or any herbs? I know being a mercenary is a dangerous work." She said as she began to eat. Star had jumped down from Jericho's shoulders and was on the floor eating her own breakfast from her bowl.

She was so small." Jericho lifted both of her hands, making them look like a large bowl. "She could fit in the palm of my hands." She paused, looking down at the makeshift bowl. "I also remember how tarnished her fur was, it was the color of rust." Jericho shook the memory away with a toss of her head. She chuckled once more when Star licked her cheek, it made her think of the positive side. "No matter, Star is here now and safe." She patted the fox between her ears then moved around the table and sat next to Lady Gwenifer.
Jericho listened intently as the Queen confirmed her suspicions. This world was in a suspended state and was beginning to fall. Though in the eyes of some, this process had begun with the black king. In Jericho's opinion it was only a matter of perspective. At least Underland still existed.
She moved on though, focusing instead on the queen's daughter. "I see. It's good that someone is looking out for her..." Trailing off, she felt a bit awkward. Jericho couldn't imagine what the Queen and her daughter must be going though, the situation was obscure enough as it is without The Hatter's mental state involved. Jericho nodded. "Yes I would love to accompany you. I wonder...if there is anyway to help her..." Her voice became quiet, not a whisper to avoid being heard, but a softer tone attempting gentleness.
Asking of her travels was a brighter subject. "I went all over Underland, like I mentioned earlier, and have encountered pretty much every creature that resides here. Regardless of how vicious some may seem, you might be surprised how they can react. But maybe that is because of my own title or maybe is was just that specific creature..." She wondered out loud. But she was getting off track. "I feel that all of the experience has really increased my sword proficiency."
"Oh, I did sustain a gash on my shoulder." Jericho lifted her thick armor up to her neck. On the side of her right shoulder was a deep slice almost an inch thick. "I got to close to a Smock. For creatures made of smoke that can still do some damage. But it's not nearly as bad as it looks." She added quickly so as not to worry the Queen.
A warm succulent smell drifted into the hall followed by an array of various breakfast dishes. Jericho began to select her favorites but waited for Lady Gwenifer before she started to eat. "Thank you for sharing this meal with me."

Gwen smiled at Jericho as she remembered how things were when she found Star. "I remember you brought her to me because she was hurt. I healed her and we gave her a bath. You were so shocked that her fur is white." She listened as she heard Jericho wonder aloud if there was a way to help her darling daughter Marlicia. She silently hoped that there was as she listened as the mercenary told her of her travels and smiled as she said that she felt the experience had increased her sword proficiency. "I am glad you feel that you have improved. Perhaps we will spar together to test your skill."
Upon hearing Jericho say she had gotten a gash on her shoulder, Gwen looked over to see the inch deep slice on the young woman's shoulder and nodded some when she said she got too close to a Smock. "They are very dangerous, Dear. After we eat, I will take a look at it and will heal it up for you, ok?" She said as she began to eat, having waited for Jericho to make her plate.
Hearing Jericho thank her for sharing the meal with her, she smiled softly. "You are very welcome, my dear Jericho. I am happy you joined me. You know I see you almost like a second daughter and I don't mind helping you at all when you need it." She said, gesturing to the cut on her shoulder. Jericho had held favor with the White Queen for many a year since she was found in the kingdom several years ago. Gwen had been the one who had helped her and had taught her how to use a sword properly and helped her gain her title.

Jericho saw the Queen begin and she followed suit, filling her mouth full of warm mushy goodness. Jericho swallowed, then nodded at the memory of stars fur. "I had actually thought that rusty red color was natural. But to find it white!" She smiled and took another bite before agreeing to a sparing match. "It would be great to see how far I really have improved. Maybe after we visit your daughter though. I would hate for you to change your plans on my account."
Jericho lifted her shoulder and used her opposite hand to inspect the wound once more. "It really isn't that bad." She repeated but was glad that it could at least be wrapped in some cloth if anything. The Mercenary didn't bring any supplies with her so she usually had to let things heal on their own. It would be nice for a change.
The queen graced her with a compliment, referring to her as a second daughter. Jericho's smile deepened. She silently thanked Lady Gwenifer with a bow which resulted in her face being less than inches from her plate. Luckily, she didn't bow much further. She realized that no matter how long she stayed here in Underland, or how strong she became in her title, the human part of her would always remain. It was a comforting thought.
Jericho had indeed been lucky. After roaming the land alone and lost she had stumbled upon this castle. Well a cottage on the outskirts of the caste to be specific. A member of the castle guard had originally taken her in and both he and the Queen cared for her. Both training her in the sword and various other skills that became second nature. The Queen's castle guard had also held the title of Mercenary and when he passed, the queen had given his title and effects to Jericho, knowing it was the request of her fallen solider. The two had become like parents to her, and she was only realizing this now as she let the word 'daughter' bounce around in her head. She continued eating as these ideas streamed around inside of her.

Gwen smiled at Jericho's suggestion to spar after seeing Marlicia. "I am sure Marli would enjoy seeing us spar. I have been meaning to go speak to the March Hare as well. I know he doesn't mind watching over Marli for me, but I am sure he too misses his family." She said as she continued to eat.
She soon finished and waited for Jericho to finish as well. Star had walked over to the two and was nuzzling Gwen, wanting attention from her. She gently reached over and pet the white fox's fur gently before speaking to the young mercenary again. "Once you are done eating, Jericho, we will tend to that cut of yours. I will also give you some herbs and wildflowers as well so you have them on hand should you run into a Slitheo or something more dangerous." She said with a smile.
She looked over to a Goblin that had walked in to take her plate. "Be a dear and bring me my first aid kit, please. I need to tend to Jericho's wound. I will also need fresh bandages as well, if you don't mind." She said kindly to the Goblin who nodded and bowed to go do as his queen requested of him.

"Thank you again, that was delicious, not to mention filling." Then she responded to the Queen's earlier comment. "I'll be he misses them too, but he is a very devoted hare." Jericho pushed her plate away and nodded to Lady Qwenifer. "Please, it would be nice to have this patched up." She pulled up her sleeve again eyeing the wound. Then she scooted her chair closer to the Queen so that her gash would be easier to treat. Jericho placed her arm on the table her elbow at the very edge. This time she rolled her sleeve a few times so it would stay up and away from the deep cut.
While they waited for the first aid kit, Jericho thought of her abilities and how they have been growing over the years. They were mainly enhanced human abilities; strength, speed, endurance. She wondered if her title held any other powers. If she might be able to heal faster or somehow increase her attack power significantly. She spoke her curiosities out loud.Lady Gwenifer? Do you think my title has any other abilities then I already have now? If not, is there anyway for he to get stronger? She liked the idea of gaining strength in any form. She didn't need power over others per say but the stronger she was, the safer she was. But she wasn't scared either. Jericho supposed that she enjoyed increasing her self worth.
"Thanks for treating my wound."

Gwen smiled as Jericho thanked her once more for the meal and listened to her comment about the March Hare. "You are most welcome, my dear, and yes, he is a very devoted hare. I know he holds feelings for my Marlicia, so he was the perfect choice to watch over her." She said as the Goblin returned with her first aid kit as well as bandages. "Thank you for bringing them to me. I will call you if you are needed again." With that, the Goblin bowed to the two women and left the room.
Moving closer to the mercenary, she began to inspect the wound on her shoulder. The cut was deep, though it had healed some on its own. Taking note of this, the White Queen began to take a mixture of herbs to make into a paste to put on the wound that would help it heal faster and would hopefully leave less of a scar on the young woman's shoulder. She listened as Jericho asked her about her title. "Well, when Ryu, the mercenary that found you, held the title, he was a quick healer as well as one of the fastest and strongest men I knew. I am not sure if that had to do with what he was or if it was his title, but when he found you, he wanted to get stronger to protect you. He saw you as a daughter and loved you dearly. I will see if there is anything in the library about increasing ones strength when we return from seeing Marli. Sound like a plan?" She said, smiling as she patched up Jericho's shoulder carefully. "I don't mind treating your wound at all, Dear. Just let your shoulder rest for a few days, and it will be fine." She said as she gathered what was left of tending to Jericho and put it away. A few moments later, a Goblin walked in and took it from her. Star waited til everything was off the table before jumping onto it and nuzzling Jericho.

The combination of herbs and wraps to hold them in place were soothing and although Jericho was already relaxed, she became more comfortable with the ebbing pain. She watched as the Queen gingerly moved the white bandages around her arm from the top of her shoulder to halfway down to her elbow. Tiny red spots of blood soaked through but not enough to need a redressing. Now if she were to move her arm too much she would probably need new bandages. For this reason she made sure to keep in mind to restrict her movement of that arm. Long enough to at least to allow the herbs to heal her.
She nodded listening to Gwenifer reminisce about Ryu, her previous mentor. "That does make since. I wonder if me being human would change how the title effects me. Would it hinder the process?"Though Jericho asked the question out loud, she wasn't necessarily looking for a direct answer. She decided that she would probably have to research the idea further and being here with the White Queen was a start; fore Gwenifer probably had an idea of the answer or at least were to find it. Which in fact did coincide with the Queen's response.
"That sounds good, I would like to search with you, if you don't mind.
The queen informed her to take it easy on her arm. "Does that mean we won't be able to spar later?" Jericho gave the queen a sheepish grin.
As the queen returned the contents of the kit, the mercenary stood and placed both hands on the edge of the table. Her body was leaned slightly against it as she spoke."If we want to make it to your daughter before dark, we should really head out soon my Lady." In Heinz sight, it could get dark at any moment but it would still be wise to head to the Tea Garden. Star nuzzled Jericho's hand and she lifted it to scratch behind the fox's left ear as she waited for the Queen's answer.

Gwen smiled as she listened to the questions of the ever curious mercenary. "You should know by now that I don't mind you helping me search for answers, Dear. This castle is always open to you. As for sparring, We will be able to spar. If I remember correctly, Ryu taught you how to fight with a sword using both hands, correct?" She said with a gentle smile.
Hearing Jericho's concern for leaving to go see Marli, she nodded. "You are right. We should begin to leave as soon as possible." The White Queen said as she stood up and walked towards the hidden garden, knowing Jericho would follow unless told otherwise. She picked up a basket and collected a few herbs, wildflowers, and other remedies she had made and put them into it before a Goblin brought her a cloak. "We shall leave whenever you are ready, Jericho. Star will be joining us too. You know how she hates to be left here with just the Goblins. Plus, the two of you have much to catch up on." She said with a smile as she looked at the young woman, seeing the snow white fox at her heels.

Though she felt that any motion of her shoulder might ruin the bandage job. None the less she wanted to test her skill so she said nothing further of their sparing match.
"I am ready"She said, then followed the queen out the large double doors of the castle. She watched the goblins submit to the queen's every command. Tilting her head she wondered were they had come from and how Lady Gwenifer had aligned with them. Jericho had never seen goblins like these before. It was strange how much she had not seen when the expanse of Underland was known to her. She guessed things probably shifted slowly and thus she missed many creatures that might be lurking in the shadows.
The doors opened wide and she stepped through. Every so often Jericho half expected for the sun to be shinning and she would squint and lift her arm above her eyes out of habit. But there was never any need because of the dense clouds that currently hung at the edges of the queen's territory.
She started walking down the steps she had first used, her sword clanking against her armor, then stopped at the bottom to asses the next direction they should go. Time may be relative in Underland but space at least was somewhat constant.Jericho turned her head to either side, gaining her barrings and then started towards the twisted forest which laid to the west.
She glanced behind her to make sure that both Star and the Queen were following."So Star," Jericho bent down and addressed the white fox."What does the queen feed you these days?"She knew that many of the normal food stuffs that Underlandians ate had changed. She wondered if the fox still got the raw meat as before.

Gwen smiled at Jericho as she said that her sword required that she use two hands. "How about when we return, you can use one of the lighter swords to spar with so you only need to use one arm and your wounded one isn't injured further?" She said gently before looking to the goblins, telling them to keep the dangers that were in the forest from entering their home as she put on her cloak.
She followed Jericho outside and into the short field that separated her castle from the forest. Star looked up at Jericho and smiled, speaking in a gentle voice. "I normally get vegetables or fruit, but if the hunt is good, she gives me raw meat as she used to. It's not that bad of a diet, and it keeps me from getting fat." He said with a chuckle as they walked. It wasn't uncommon for animals to be able to speak in Underland, so hopefully him speaking wouldn't come as a shock since he only learned how to speak recently while Jericho was away.
