dainichijess Cable channels aren't controlled by the FCC. What they do and don't show is simply a matter of internal censorship. Ahh, but they are. Every form of communication in the united states is subject to the FCC guidelines to some degree. FCC Home Page The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent United States government agency, directly responsible to Congress. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions.

Cable channels are responsible for what they broadcast. They are often part of packages. Pay channels however are specifically chosen by customers, and are free from the usual restrictions on basic cable channels which is why the movie channels can show R rated movies, and some of the other pay channels can show porn 24 hours a day. Most basic cable channels' content is restricted somewhat to limit the chance of minors being exposed to inappropriate content because as they are part of a package, you may get comedy central and nickelodeon in the same package. The FCC can fine any inappropriate content on cable if they choose.

As I was giddily listening to SMODcast as I was working the Smith announced that Clerks is BlueRay bound this comming summer. He's astonished that he was approached to put this on a high-def format, but he's going for it anyway! It'll include all the extras that ClerksX featured and should carry the original cover art for the movie.
