"Who'd have ever thought it would be a good idea to have a hotel in town?" Keeper chuckled from his seat behind the ancient desk he ysed to read. "You quit your studdies so early you probably don't even know what a hotel is." He sighed. "Why don't you come back, it's not too late to take up the pages again." "I'm twenty-Seven Renlin. I'm too old and there's more need for me out there." Konnor sighed, looking sideways at the girl. It was still miraculous that she hadn't a single scratch, scrape or cut on her. She'd been unconscious for a day after drikning the water. Keeper thought it best to wait her out rather than wake her and force food down her throat. Konnor had no frame of reference or any book words to read with, so he had no knowledge to challenge the Keeper's decision. She was a pretty girl, but she looked sickly, she was more 'skin and bones' than even the walkers. The offencive nick name appeared to be sticking more solidly the more he observed. he had hoped to be able to deduce her role in the previous village by markings on her, but there were literally none. No calloused fingers from a lighter's run. No rough hands of a blacksmiths workshop. No burns from the cooks fires. She was unblemmished, almost as if she'd been stored in a protective room until dropped on their gate-step. Hell even now, after accidentally dropping her once on the way to the Library and smacking her leg into a book shelf Konnor thought she'd have at least a graze, but the girl's skin was resilient. "Where would you guess she came from?" Konnor asked absently. The Keeper considered for a moment before walking across to a nearby bookshelf and pulled out a folded paper. He unfolded it and laid it over the table. It was a map. A large map. in the centre of the boot shaped land mass was a circle. "We're here." the keeper said, pointing at the circle. "One Hundred years ago the nearest inhabited settlement was here." he pointed about two days walk from their location. "However if we're to believe her unconscious hallucination addled sleep talk, then she's from anywhere within this circle." He traced a circle about seven times as large as the distance between the town and the closest town. "You cannot reach further in two weeks, unless she travelled non-stop night and day, btu I think we both know that's ridiculous." Konnor nodded. "settign aside the fact she'd need sleep... she'd have been ripped apart by the ravenous dead." "Allways a pleasant sentence to wake up to."
