In here will be stories and info about Henry Soutland, Jason Ordon, and Shaun Miles before their eventual arrival in the Mojave Wasteland.

Also added will be stories and info for Lindy, Charlie, Bach and Morri in the Mojave.

A lot of them may be nonsensical since they were just rambles to get the characters personalities in order.

The proto fic that created Henry Soutland based partially on my first LW in F3

It was written to get a base feel of the kind of character Henry was going to be. He was later adjusted.
~~~~~~~~
Today was the day! Finally! Most of the residents had been waiting for this day for nearly a year now. And for Henry Soutland it was going to a whole new adventure for him. For you see, he lived in a vault…. Not just any vault but he lived in Vault 101. And after everything had been settled after some kind of power struggle between the former overseer and a few of the residents they were finally able to go outside. For him however, it was going to be a permanent departure. He would not be returning to the place he had called his home for all of his life. He had a bag packed with all of his possessions, what meager possessions he had anyways. Most of it was clothes, he didn’t exactly have a weapon to bring except for one and it had been brought in the last time the vault door had been opened.
The only reason he had been allowed to leave and not been stuck back with the rest of them was that he had trained another resident to take over his medical job and learn the skills of keeping the residents healthy and safe.
Once he was ready to go he gave his room one final walkthrough and made sure he had everything he wanted to bring. He sighed, there was a part of him that didn’t want to leave the Vault but there was another part of him that wanted to get out there and see the world that had so intrigued James and his son that the both of them left. Checking his Pip-Boy for the time he gave a sad smile and slowly walked the halls of the Vault. He was trying to memorize every nook and cranny of the home he would never see again.
He said goodbye to most of the residents that were staying there and smiled as they gave him their well wishes. A few of them gave him little trinkets to remember them by and he made sure they were tucked safely into his bag and pockets. Once he made it to the main door to the Vault, overseer Amata was there waiting for him with a camera. “As much as it pains us all to see you leave Henry we wish you good luck in your travels there in the world. We’ll all miss you and hope that one day you will return to us.” She took a picture of him with most of the group, then one of him standing alone at the rolling door of the Vault. She handed him the picture of the group and kept the other one. “Goodbye everyone, I wont forget you as long as I live.”
He turned before he could run back and say he wanted to stay. As he walked down the passage to the door leading outside he could hear the large Vault door sliding into place, sealing him forever from returning with out begging to get back inside. Henry steeled himself and continued to the door leading outside. When he first opened it he had to shut his eyes because it was so bright and he wasn’t used to anything but the lights in the Vault.
Waiting a few minutes for them to adjust he blinked taking in the sights of the bleak wasteland. It was nothing like people said it was going to be like. Shouldering his bag he made his way down the little trail from 101 onto what remained of a street.
He sighed and looked around him. In one direction there were ruined houses, in another what looked to be a giant heap of metal. He assumed it was Megaton, since that had been a location told about in the former overseers computer. Hopefully there he would be able to find out where he was and where he could be going. He needed a map actually, his pip-boy needed to read data for a map so he could explore with out getting lost.
He could hear nearby the sounds of something speaking but it sounded a bit like the Mr. Handy he had worked with in 101. Could it have been one like him? He ran toward the sound but was disappointed when he found it was just a protectron. He groaned and waited for the doors to open. Once they did he made his way inside the city.
This world was either going to be the end of him or a new beginning.
Henry Soutland was originally named Henry James Southland. However through some typos on my part his last name became Soutland and James was dropped completely as it was the name of the Lone Wanderers father. In an older prototyped short story he was originally from Vault 21 in New Vegas, however to tie in a story to both games he was moved off to the Capital Wasteland and put into Vault 101.
In the New Vegas setting not much has changed from him other than taking from his origins.
Like New Vegas Henry, Capital Wasteland Henry becomes a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse. Different than NV Henry, CW Henry doesn't have a crush on Arcade Gannon.
The NV version was also a slight more gruff since his vault wasn't full of pansies and morons. He was also a compulsive gambler and drinker who liked to taunt the Securitrons surrounding the Lucky 38. His most memorable moment would be walking to one and telling it. "If you had underwear and a butt, I'd pull your underwear right up your butt." Suggesting that NV Henry was an a*****e when drunk. NV Henry was originally set at 24 years old making him the youngest (this still holds true) of the trio
CW Henry is softer as he grew up in a vault where his overseer and most of the residents inside (him included) were a little odd. He is also two years older than the LW. Since he had never been outside of 101 it was a learning experience for the man. Nearly dying many times wanting to study whatever and everything he could find he.
Originally he was to have fathered a child with a woman who saved him from being eaten by deathclaws, but it was scrapped in order to get him to the mojave without extra baggage. It also didn't fit the personality of a geeky shut in to have had sex, at all.
He has an accent and due to family inbreeding once a generation his left eye is darker than his right giving him an odd countenance if his eyes are seen with out the glasses over them.
Since he is the only one of the CW trio to have come from a vault he is the only one able to use a Pip-Boy, up until he meets Doc Mitchell in Goodsprings after an incident involving a shoot out. The doc shows him how to take it off but due to many years wearing it he is hesitant to take it off or be with out it. It has become a second skin to him. As well as the bane of his explorations since his companions make him take point since he is the only one with a light.
He sleeps in the largest of the rooms in the Presidential Suite in the Lucky 38, mainly because he talks in his sleep.
If he could be voiced it would be Gideon Emery
Jason Ordon hasn't changed much from his prototype version. Unlike Henry there was no NV version of the man so most of his information is reliant on knowledge of F3 and the CW.
In the prototype version Jason was 27 making him ten years younger than his final version of 37. He was not a Citadel BoS member but one of the outcasts who shot at and nearly killed Henry. He also did not leave his family behind but slaughtered them all in a fit of rage brought on by addiction.
However when sketching out the man he did not seem the darkened type so things were switched around. He becomes one of the troops of the Citadel and less of an enemy to others.
Jason now leaves his family at a young age to lessen the burden on his mother for caring for so many children, most of them fathered by different men.
Due to many years of drinking radiated water and living near a dump site Jason has what is akin to the Rad Regeneration perk. He found this out as he broke a leg while playing as a child before leaving. The limb healed and he seemed to be the only one in the family to pick it up due to wandering around the dump site.
Final version Jason is more of the big brotherly/fatherly type and his mentality on that some times pushes the younger members of the trio (mostly Henry) to rebel against him, usually with comical or dangerous consequences. He sports scruffy graying hair and a scraggly beard as they travel through the wastes though once in the Mojave he is always clean shaven. He stands about 6' 4" and has sky blue eyes
He inhabits the snowglobe room in the Lucky 38. He is the tallest of the trio and he is most proficient in speech and explosive. He is also a very deadly sniper.
If anyone would voice Jason it would be Nolan North
His last name comes from the starting village and home town of Link on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Unlike Jason and more like Henry, Shaun also had a NV counterpart. One that was scrapped for the hell of it. It was also pretty bad, very bad... very very bad.
In the original Shaun was a Raider. He had no name and probably only took like five minutes to write up. I killed him off because he sucked that much.
CW Shaun is far different. His age was dropped from 32 to 28 for an odd reason I can't really explain (Ok, ok so I forgot what I originally made his age)
He was born in a now destroyed shack near the Dunwich ruins to a mother who died five years after his birth and to a father who took the young man around the area. His father died of alcohol poisoning when Shaun was 19 and so the young man wandered around before his like of large weapons caught the attention of the Talon Mercs who were a group of mercenaries who would do anything for caps. He joined for a little while until he realized that this isn't what his father would have wanted for him and split off from the group going his own way. He ended up living in an abandoned house near Tenpenny Tower.
He was originally named Phil.... but that was a dumb name.
Eventually he meets up with Henry and Jason and they have their little adventures.
His name is a combination of two other names. Shaun Hastings and Desmond Miles showing that I'm a nerd, I like Assassin's Creed and those names.
Shaun is a big gun user, he usually when traveling with the other two is the one with the mini gun strapped to his back. Though he has no formal combat training he excels at unarmed combat.
If he could be voiced it would be cocky Scott McNeil
A short wip fic based around the dynamic of the trio and the addition of some new players
Jason(Fatherly), Shaun (Big brother), Henry (middle child) Charlie (Youngest) Bach (Dog)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was nearly noon and Jason was starting to worry. Why was he worrying? Well the answer to that was still upstairs in the presidential suite of their home. Usually by now the youngest member of their trio would be down stairs asking if anything was going to happen today or at least down with the rest of the FoA in the basement or back in their base at the Old Mormon Fort.

The door was locked to his room but that didn't stop Jason who was pretty good at picking locks, all three of them could but with Shaun away at his security job in the Gomorrah he was the only one home to check in on the former vault dweller. He had one of the young men he hired to watch the floor as he headed up the elevator to their room level.

Stopping in front of the door he pulled a bobby pin out of his pocket and set about popping the lock. Once he was inside he sighed seeing Henry on the floor having not changed out of his nightclothes. Moving to lift the man off the floor Jason could feel the heat radiating from the man's body and could feel the clamminess of his skin.

"Henry? Henry wake up." With the younger man making no move to open his eyes Jason lifted him and placed him back in bed. Lifting the hand that had the pip-boy Jason checked the man's status. His rads were up slightly but there wasn't enough that could account for the fever. He wondered if it was just a cold or the flu. Did they still exist here in the post apocalyptic world? It was always possible.

He wet a cloth and put it over the man's forehead after stripping the sweat soaked shirt off. "I'd say don't move but that would be stupid. You can't hear me and you can't move anyway."

He was going to need to get one of the FoA somehow from the basement where they were nerding over things left down there from the previous owner. Hopefully Shaun would be back soon, there was no way that Jason was going to be able to keep running back and forth between the casino floor, the cocktail lounge and the floor that housed their rooms. And he didn't exactly trust anyone around here yet to not take anything, after all the Lucky 38 technically wasn't theirs either.

He sighed and closed the door partially behind him as he headed for the elevator. He was not a baby sitter, Henry was old enough to take care of himself. While one part of his brain said that was true the other still thought the young man was too green to be on his own. After all he'd been in a vault for 20 odd years. The man tried to make friends with a super mutant of all people, granted they were in Jacobstown at the time but still. Jason would just continue on with his fatherly duties until he wasn't needed anymore.

As the elevator stopped at the bottom floor Jason was relieved to see Charlie and Bach sitting at one of the bars drinking something, no clue what it was at the moment. All he could see was Charlie gesturing again trying to make his point while Bach translated for the man. Jason slid behind the bar to greet the tribal and his Mr.Handy.

"Hello Charlie, Bach. I have a proposal for you, if your interested."

Tribal and bot looked at each other for a moment before Charlie turned back to Jason and nodded while raising an eyebrow. "Nothing dangerous of course." The elder man said with his hands raised. "Henry is sick and I can't take care of him while watching after this place. If you go watch him for the day, I'll pay you in caps and drinks. Or whatever else you want with in my scope of obtaining them."

Charlie smiled and mimed a house and bed then pointed at himself and Bach. Bach translated of course. "He said he'll do it if you let him live here. We're not welcome in the tribe much since coming to the strip since they think that we will lead the NCR back to them."

Jason thought for a moment. They could probably squeeze another bed in there if they moved some stuff around. "Alright you got a deal, but after this you start working here to earn your keep got it."

Charlie nodded and smirked before waving and heading for the elevator that led to the rooms the men lived in.

"My family seems to be getting bigger, and look at that, we've got a dog now too."

Charlie was born into a tribal community just north of Mt. Charleston and Jacobstown. Due to the tribe's isolation and location they were pretty much untouched by the reformation of major tribes by House. He was born mute since as a baby he never fussed or was able to cry.

A member of the scav team he discovered Bach who would serve as his voice.

Personality wise he is more laid back than the rest of his tribe and likes exploring more than others. Due to being mute he is prone to making wild hand gestures to get his point across. Bach sometimes flubs a translation or says something at wasnt what Charlie originally said. And he tries to get the bot to correct what was said.

Skill wise he is great at sneaking. He uses the fact that he makes very little noise to his advantage. Also due to scaving he excels at using plants to make meds. Being a tribal he doesn't have much experience with guns but he is a fast learner.

Charlie has an odd name for a tribal, but looking at some of the other tribes in NV I'd say it's normal. (As in: Chance, Bingo, Benny, and the rest) His tribe has no official name and they like to keep it as such.

Originally Charlie was a very expressive and fast talker but having one too many of those in my FU (hehe) already I decided to make him mute. He was also to be paired up with Lindy but after playing around with his character and stats using the Fallout PnP I decided not to.

Some time during his more extended stays outside of his tribe he is exiled in fear that he might some how accidentally lead the NCR to their location due to his interaction with Jason who is a member of NCR military. In post above this one it is explained how Charlie came to live in the Lucky 38 with the CW trio.

In the hands of Henry he excels at Science. With Jason ironically enough Speech is his high marks. And with Shaun it's Barter.

As he has no voice he is some times misunderstood and swept off to the side until people realize that he's there and has accomplished with very little problem what they were struggling with.

Bach was a second gen edition Mr. Handy purchased just before the great war. His original owner was a musician who played in a jazz band and was scheduled to play a gig on the Strip the day the bombs fell. When bad things started happening his owner along with 20 or so other people attempted, unsuccessfully of course, to break into a vault. Bach had stayed behind in his masters house as having been ordered to protect his masters things from looters not knowing there would be no one left to loot. The house was demolished and he was buried.

His personality comes from a soldier his master was friends with. When the man's body was shipped back from Alaska the musician played an assload of money to have the man's traits mapped on to Bach's programming. He can not access most of it after the war other than the part that makes him sarcastic and some times moody. Bach was found by Charlie a year before the main events of NV. In what remained of his masters house. Charlie had a small knowledge of what would be needed to turn the bot on and was able to. After initial oddness and seeing that the man who found him was mute Bach allowed himself to become the man's voice.

He will at times whistle a tune that hasn't been heard since before the wars. No one notices however as he does it when he is alone. Despite this if he is caught singing he avoids talking about it and quickly switches to a new topic. So far the only one to catch on to this is Henry as Bach started humming as he took care of the ill former vault dweller.

Since Bach is a Mr. Handy he is hardly ever out in fights with the group if there is one. He is not equipped for battle since his former master had him customized to help with music.

Out of the group he likes Charlie the most for obvious reasons and Henry because he knows how to maintain a Mr. Handy. His least favorites are Lindy and Morri.

Bach would be voiced by Danny Wallace.

~The Healer from 101~

This was written as a sort of memo thing left where any one could find it. A lot of the wording might be off and some facts skewed.
~~~~~
The wasteland is vast and unforgiving for someone like me. Perhaps my departure from Vault 101 had been a bit premature when Overseer Amata had said that if we felt we were ready we could leave. I was only able to leave myself after training a replacement. I was also a replacement for the former medical adviser James.
Technically, he could be blamed for most of the rebellion that had occurred a year ago. Our former overseer lied to us and told us that the vault had never been opened before. But that was not the case. James and his son were never from the vault like the rest of us. Those of us born in the vault knew we were to die in the vault.
It's been a year since then, James' dream of fresh water has been achieved. He was never able to see it however. His son completed his work and the waters of the Capital Wasteland are running clean and free with no radiation. James' son now lives a quiet life in Megaton, though I know he sometimes goes wandering. I see him every so often on my travels to and from the town and we like to talk about things going on in the wastes or how things are going in the vault.
It still breaks his heart a little that he's still not welcome back but he is still eager to hear news from there.
I wont be here in the Capital Wasteland much longer. I have a very interesting expedition coming. One that I'm heading. To map out the American Wasteland.
My name is Henry Soutland and I was once a vault dweller.
~Brotherhood of Steel~
I once nearly died a the hands of a Deathclaw. I was just 15 at the time and I had left my family behind. I was saved by an angel in a suit of armour. That's the thing about near death, you sometimes imagine things differently than how they actually happened. The angel in the suit of armour turned out to be a man named Paladin Steward. He brought me to their safe location in a building that was once called the Pentagon back before the great war.
It took a long time before I was able to heal and move my arms. After that I had begun my long training of becoming like Steward. He had taken me in as something like a apprentice and I wasn't going to waste the chance to be like him.
I was part of the protection teams assigned to Purity. I cheated death once again during a battle when I was shot in the head. I woke up nearly two months later.
I knew in my heart that it was time to leave the Brotherhood. I had begun having trouble holding up my weapons and I didn't want to bog them down with having someone like me there. So I left the BoS with their blessing, leaving my power armor behind as well as all the friends I had made.
I ended up settling down in Rivet City where I met an odd little man named Henry. He told me he was from Vault 101 just like the Lone Wanderer.
He and I became fast friends and he told me of his plans to travel the Wastelands mapping it out. I decided to come along as he was a little naive of the world but he was a fast learner.
My name is Jason Ordon and I was once part of the Brotherhood of Steel.
~ The Lone Wanderer~
Vault 101, words I had never wanted to hear again in my lifetime. I hadn't been back there since Amata's distress call more than a year ago. I had been through a lot since leaving the vault. I had nearly died of radiation poisoning activating Project Purity, I had been kidnapped by Enclave leaders. I had been through so much.
I worked with the Brotherhood of Steel to help distribute the pure water through the wastes. After that I've been exploring the world outside the vault. It may have been a wasteland but there was so much for me to see there that I would have never since had I not left.
Amata told me to never come back to the vault after coming home a second time. The people did not like me or my father for what had happened.
Being out here taught me something important.
Everything has a price. I've paid my dues and more. I lost my home, my father and lost my mother before I had even known her. The only homes I had now were in the Citadel or in Megaton. The BoS are my family now.
Raven Rock and the Enclave are no more thanks to me. I was the one who made President Eden self destruct. Me, the simple man from 101.
The wasteland is free but for how long? Won't someone come to replace the Enclave. I can't be vigilant forever but I can damned well try.
I was not born in Vault 101 but it will always be a part of me.
I am Kyle Stone, I was once called the Best, Last Hope for Humanity.
I am the Lone Wanderer.
~~~Some of the crap I have on my ipod, should really clean it out.~~~

!~~Drabble 1~~!

Henry was in trouble and he knew it. Here he was in a den of super mutants having been taken hostage. What were they going to do to him and the others that had been taken. He wished that he had Jason here with him or even Shaun. They could get him out of everything that was happening to him.

He curled his arms around his knees and looked around the room. Some times he was just too green to be by himself. He blamed the lifetime he had spent in the vault, even Jason would say the same thing. He had fallen for such a simple trick that it annoyed him.

He closed his eyes as he could hear screaming nearby and assumed it was one of the other people that had been brought with him. "Someone help me...." Even though no one came for him neither did the mutants and he was able to fall into a sort of restless sleep. He wanted to be back in the Lucky 38 with Jason and Shaun, where he knew that he would be safe. Here it was like being trapped in a nightmare he couldn't escape from.

When he awoke he was still in his hellhole of a nightmare world. Though things did seem different, he could see light coming from nearby. He stood on shaky legs and headed for the light source. It was window, a broken one but might be able to get it open enough for his slim frame if he tried.

He wedged it far enough for most of his body to fit through. As he was sliding his legs through he felt something grab his feet. "Ah, god no!" He could feel it tugging him back inside and he gripped the window as tightly as he could. He kicked with the free leg in effort to get whoever had him to let go.

Henry let out a pained scream that echoed through the canyon he could see he was trapped in. He felt the bone in his right leg twist and could hear the snap of it breaking. He kicked as hard as he could with his good foot and felt the pressure release on his leg. He slid the rest of the way out of the window and crumpled to the floor below.

The pain in his leg was agonizing and he wanted to tear up but instead took a deep breath and attempted to stand. Limping along as best he could he made his way through the canyon listening for any signs of someone coming after him.

It was a mile in before he collapsed from the pain in his leg. While he wondered why the mutants didn't chase him he didn't care as long as he could get away. He took shelter in a rocky outcropping and used his jacket as a blanket to keep himself warm. He could tell he was going into shock by the way the world would blur every so often. He had no food with him and both his weapons and his stimpaks had been taken from him.

He sighed and curled his body as best he could with his injured leg as it was. He wanted to cry but he wasn't sure a 26 year old man should. After all crying would do nothing but make him dehydrated. Some times he hated being smart, though right now it was pointless to think about it since it would do him nothing of good. He attempted to regulate his breathing to avoid going into shock. He just needed a little time to rest and then he could try and limp back to the strip.

Finally the only sign of his pain escaped his lips. He gave a big sigh and curled on the floor closing his eyes. He could feel his leg swelling but did nothing as he faded off to the dream world.

When he next woke he felt weird. He had yet to open his eyes but it felt as though he was floating. "No!" He said as he opened his eyes and saw he was in the arms of Jason with Shaun in front of them minigun in hand. "I... How did you find me?"

Jason smiled at the man and shrugged as best he could while holding him. "You are not that hard to find actually, we just asked around and someone told us you were dragged off by something in this direction. We'll be getting you to the FoA so they can take a look at that leg of yours."

Shaun snorted from in front of the little caravan. "How in the hell did you get tagged by muties any way. I always figured you were smarter than that."

Henry sighed and closed his eyes again. Shaun was once again right and it bugged him to high heaven. He didn't have an answer either since he couldn't think normally.

He tried to think as best he could but the pain receptors in his brain were firing at full so it was hard.

"Jason put me down please." Henry felt like a fool being carried like this, he was nearly as tall as Jason and it was awkward being held like this. "You know I can't do that Henry. Your leg is pretty bad man, so you are going to be quiet and let me carry you."

Henry rolled his eyes and didn't press the issue. Jason was in big brother mode and there would be no stopping the man. They still remembered when Shaun attempted to deal with the man in that mode. He had been sent to scrub all of the tables down in the lounge area of the Lucky 38.

"I don't think those are super mutants. Something about them didn't seem right. They didn't chase after me once I got away. Like they didn't care or something."

Jason thought for a moment and stopped walking before looking at Henry. "What do you mean they didn't act like super mutants? What else could they be then?" Henry shook his head as they got moving again. "They didn't sound like super mutants at all. Well one of them did but he was off. And they didn't look like super mutants either, or at least from what I could tell. It was night when they attacked me so it was all a blur."

"So wait a minute you were attacked last night and we didn't even know about it? Henry man, tonight you are staying with us in the Lucky 38. The FoA might be able to heal you but we're not letting you out of our sight after that."

"I refuse! I am not a child to be babied." Henry started to squirm in Jason's grip. "Vault boy if you continue to struggle I'll have Shaun knock you out again." Henry sighed and let the man continue to carry him. "I hate the both of you sometimes you know that."

~~Drabble 2~~

Painful.

He screamed until his voice was hoarse. He was able to look at his arm before his blacked out. He could see the bone had broken the skin.

Blessed darkness swamped his vision and brought relief to the pain.

A nightmarish world was there to greet him as he was left for dead stripped of everything he had with him but his pip-boy and his clothes.

Visions of his own death greeted the unconscious man. The pain receivers in his brain firing double time.

Eventually someone took pity on him and carted him off to somewhere safe.
He would wake with no memory of who he was or where he came from.

His only reminders of who he once was were recordings made on a pip-boy that spoke of a casino on the strip. He wasn't sure he wanted to return to that life. He couldn't remember that life. The cheerful voice he heard that sounded so much like him no longer was him.

~~Drabble 3~~

~~Shitty story behind Shaun(not being a raider)~~

Talon Mercs, sounds like something that would interest you right? It's not as interesting as it seems. It involves a lot of murder and blood. Contract killing in the wastes isn't as glamourous as it seems. It's a lot of leg work and most of the time your targets are dead by someone else's hands before you can even get to them. There are so many times that I can count of my target killed off by Deathclaws or Super Mutants. It gets annoying and if you don't kill your target you don't get to eat.

I was with Talon for a few years. Then pretty much all of our group was taken out by the kid from Vault 101. I was away at the times I was spared from the massacre. After I found pretty much every one dead I decided to settle down in Tenpenny Tower. That didn't last very long either since the 101 kid found the place too. After that I became a wandering salesman. It was a good living for a while because instead of harming others I was helping to spread the clear waters from Project Purity. It was just as dangerous as it was back when I was a merc. Even though the Enclave has been destroyed there are still remnants still trying to stop the water from being distributed.

I met up with two men who are working to do the same thing I do. I've learned their names were Jason and Henry.

One was from the Brotherhood of Steel and the other was from a Vault. They're talking about heading across the American Wasteland and mapping it out.

My name is Shaun Miles and I am a former merc.
