▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ xxxxx► ► The Spirit That Screams ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ╔══════════════╗ Audrey Ryder ╚══════════════╝ Objective : Help Audrey destroy the nightmares she's brought to life. Hero Quota : 3 - 4 Duration : 3 - 5 Pages Skill Required : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ Reward : 250 Megards xxxxxPlot [Part I] : During recent storms, a power outage left Audrey in a fit of insecure fear. Being afraid of the dark, her sanity dropped to the point that she had nearly gone insane. This time, however, the things she saw in the dark were unlike anything she had seen before; they were real. Her newfound power allowed her to bring preminitions to life; and apparently in lapses of sanity she was able to make things from her dreams and nightmares reality as well. Though she had no recolection of how she did it or how to do it in the future, she knew one thing for certain; that there were five beasts that had become real from her nightmares, and they were lurking around Megalopolis during the night waiting to get her. Audrey has decided to higher three or four heroes that can help her defeat the creatures and put an end to her over-extended nightmare. They will be meeting in her apartment in the eroes base, and will be heading out to an abandoned asylum to confront the beasts. She will supply each hero with a flashlight, but other than that they will be on their own. ╔══════════════╗ Now Introducing, Audrey Ryder! ╚══════════════╝ xxxxx Staking her claim as the "rookie" hero, Audrey has taken up her fair share of missions to make herself fairly known within Megalopolis as a hero, using her alias "Lady Limelight". As a child she grew up with an unnatural fear of the dark, making her grow a horribly high anxiety level during periods of extended lapses in darkness. When she gained her ability of mediumship, her fear of the dark took on a whole new role as the spirits and creatures she thought she would see in the darkness became real. She attempted to work past it, though, not wanting to be the bum that couldn't do any missions for the heroes became of a fear. Now that her fear has unleashed a horrible number of beasts over Megalopolis, she is going to confront her fears and head to a place of darkness to defeat the beasts and send them back to her nightmares. ╔══════════════╗ Now Introducing, James Moore! ╚══════════════╝ xxxxx James is the spirit of a young man who was brutally murdered when he was in his early adulthood. This spirit first met Audrey during one of her earlier missions, and helped her by being her eyes and ears for places she could not get to. Since then James has stuck to Audrey, helping her out and warning her in times of need. He has agreed to help Audrey and her friends by wandering the halls of the abandoned asylum and warning the group when one of the creatures is near, among other things. James is one of the first spirits to open up to Audrey, and is the only spirit that Audrey is able to stand and not fear. He takes everything seriously and ignores things that are not relevant to current goals. Barton Hollow Audrey Ryder / James Moore nightscapture Luciana Tian Li Alverstein

Note: Audrey Ryder will not be in her "Lady Limelight" alias. This means that people will be able to connect "Lady Limelight" to Audrey based on her abilities. Audrey paced back and forth in her apartment, awaiting the arrival of her mercenaries. She was very nervous, as this stupid lapse of caution basically told the whole Megalopolis community that Lady Limelight was the young Audrey Ryder. She had not directly said it, though, so all she could do was deny, deny, deny. As long as she could, anyway.
Audrey wore a black thin hooded sweatshirt with creme colored fur around the hood, over a creme colored undershirt, the zipper zipped down just below her breasts. She had on a black slightly frilled mini-skirt and black arctic style boots. Her skin was somewhat paler than usually from all the stress she'd been through the past couple of nights, and her long, black and creme-blond hair was held up in a loose ponytail, stray hairs flying here and there. She looked like a mess, but at least she looked fashionable. That was one thing that kept her mind off of all the ghouls around her, at least.
It was storming outside, as well. Storming. It was pitch black out, and they were about to head off to an abandoned asylum to fight monsters. Just perfect. At least she could phase out of there if she needed to. Though she would not leave her heroes there alone. Unless they left her there alone, of course. Audrey let out a sigh, looking down at the flashlights in her hands, which were covered in fingerless black gloves. Her backpack sat not far away, ready to be grabbed as she walked out the door. It had some medical supplies in case someone got injured, a s**t-ton of extra batteries, and a few bottles of water. Hopefully it was enough.
All she could do anymore was hope.

☯☁ Luciana ❦ ☆Tian Li ♬✦Alverstein Known to all as...ϟPhoenixϟ There is no such thing as a lost battle☮ There is only a loss of heart The rain slapping on the ground outside sounded like people running heavily along the sidewalk. It almost gave Phoenix the delusion that she wasn't the only soul that was hurrying along the streets at the late afternoon hours. Her leather gloved fingers had a death grip on the umbrella that was precariously blowing around, protecting her from the onslaught of rain. Shivering, she pulled the wool scarf wrapped around her neck tighter against her skin. Both the rain and the oddity of this particular mission had led Phoenix to take some liberty on her outfit. Instead of her usual 'no jeans or hanging clothing' policy, she had taken the clothes from her wardrobe that would cover her best from the rain but wouldn't suffocate her in its fabric. Aside from the scarf, she had a black, button up shirt with ruffles near the collar and tight, waist length bell shaped sleeves that normally would drag her down in a fight should an opponent grab it. Unfortunately, in weather like this, it was appropriate. Long blue jeggings ran down her legs, taking a beating from the rain. Phoenix didn't want to wear normal jeans-they'd slow her down while running-but she wasn't about to put on some hideous brown Capri either, so this was the best she could settle for, even if it wasn't very fashionable. As Phoenix ran, she thought over the strange mission that had called her out on a stormy day like this. Normally, in weather this bad, Phoenix would gladly have taken the day off from work and stayed at home, snugged on her couch with a cup of tea and the television for her company. This sort of mission though, didn't come all the time, and it was curiosity that had driven her to accept Audrey's request and plunge through pouring rain to her house and the asylum that waited beyond. The pitch black sky around her only lengthened the jog even more. Every second felt like ten minutes had passed and by the time Phoenix arrived at Audrey's apartment complex, her black hair, normally lush, was hanging limp against her side and forehead, and she was panting like she had ran a full scale marathon. Standing outside the door, she gulped for air for a second, willing herself to regain most of her composure, and stepped inside. Audrey had already given all the heroes the number of her apartment, and it didn't take long for Phoenix to find it, even if she did trot around for a few minutes trying to get her bearings. Standing outside the door, Phoenix raised her hand and rapped slightly against the wood.

Carson approached the apartment building in the midst of the mid-night storm. He kept himself concentrated on the task ahead. Carson was about to embark on a trek of heroism with a rag-tag team of hereos, he had never met. He had donned an insulated kevlar ensemble to be veiwed as his "super-hero identity."
Carson had recently moved to Megaopolis and was planning on making a name for himself as a vigilante. He had found an ad in the paper for a hero for hire and wanted to assist someone as Cloud Nine!

 ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄xxxxxxxxxx ► ► Kiyoki "Smith" Robinson ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀xxxxxxxxxx ╔══════════════╗ Power 3000xx ╚══════════════╝ "running the game xxxxxwhat am I saying?"
Ahhhh, the rain. While most people looked at it as if it were the work of the devil, created solely to ruin plans, Smith had always enjoyed the feel of the cold little droplets on his skin. They reminded him of a time when he didn't have to choose between going out and killing someone or saving their life, a time when he could wake up in the morning and all he had to worry about was the choice between bacon and ham, a time when he only had to worry about shadow monsters in video games. Simpler times.
Sure, he had volunteered for the mission, but at the same time if he had refused it would have destroyed the trust that he had tried to set up back at his condo a few days ago. Pfft, Women and their trust issues. So as Smith glided just above the rooftops, going just above 15 miles per hour, he started practicing for the big fight, one practically tailor made for him. Slice, Slice, Stab ! The Dark Lord himself would be proud of his killer lightblade skills. Sure he wasn't the best at it, but for some one whose only practice is Wii Sports Resort sword fighting, he wasn't doing to shabby. Plus he had a trick up his sleeve. Since it wasn't as if the blade was real and he created it himself, it could fire off projectiles at will. Take that zombies of Audrey's imagination!
Smith had already been to her apartment a few times, so it was no problem finding it from the outside. Pushing up the window, which was purposefully left unlocked for him, he waltzed in a shook all the water off of himself like a dog. In an attempt to lighten the mood, he doned a huge grin and shouted, "Doors are for noobs!"

The first person to arrive was not Kiyoki -- that was beyond certain to her. It was either the girl or the guy. She assumed that they would all be in costume, since they had taken on the mission as heroes. Though, of course, she could be wrong. Not like it would matter either way. Audrey knew so few people here that she could see them twice with something as small changed as their hairstyle and she would not recognize who they were. At least heroes and villains were safe around her in that regard.
Audrey walked over and slowly unlocked the deadbolt on the door, slid the chain lock off, pulled the bar lock off and undid the doorknob lock and slowly opened the door. She stepped aside to let the girl enter, smiling just slightly before closing the door behind her and locking everything back. Audrey turned around to look the girl over. "Thank you so much for your help. As you know, I'm Audrey. This is my home... we won't be here long. Just waiting on the others. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them. Oh, and here... you might want this," she said with a light, quick smile, handing one of the metal flashlights over to the girl.
Not but a few moments later she looked past the girl to one of the large windows overlooking the street, just on the other side of her sitting area. A man with a disturbed looking mask clambered in and shut the window behind him, proclaiming a statement that was most absurd. Audrey rolled her eyes. "I thought for this one time maybe they would be good," she said, insinuating that coming in through her window would not only look odd to others but also make it "seem" as though "something was up". Regardless, she tossed a flashlight to him and turned her attention back to the girl. They were just missing one person. One more person, and they were heading out... Out into the darkness.

☯☁ Luciana ❦ ☆Tian Li ♬✦Alverstein Known to all as...ϟPhoenixϟ There is no such thing as a lost battle☮ There is only a loss of heart "Nice to meet you Audrey. I'm Phoenix," Shaking off the remnants of water from her jacket and jeggings, Phoenix stepped delicately into Audrey's home, being careful to not tread unnecessary rain and mud into her house. For a moment, she had thought that it was rather odd that Audrey would have a deadbolt barring her front door, but she decided to wave that thought off. These were certainly dangerous times, and those who took extra precautions came a lot better off then those who slacked off and made no move to guarantee their safety. Taking the flashlight that Audrey offered her, Phoenix bounced it slightly in her leather gloved hand and flicked it on and off to make sure the batteries were operating correctly. The last thing that the young heroine would want was to be stuck in a room with no natural illumination and a broken flashlight. Before Phoenix could get the chance to ask Audrey anything about this peculiar spirits they were hunting down, a racket came from the other side of the room. Spinning around, Phoenix was surprised to find a man clambering through the window like it was the most natural thing in the world. She blanched slightly at the mask but otherwise showed no reaction to the strange and bold entrance. Audrey seemed clearly annoyed, and Phoenix couldn't exactly blame her. She certainly wouldn't want a guy announcing himself by throwing himself through a window. It only screamed 'attention' and that was the last thing they needed in a mission like this. Deciding to not let the odd man disturb her, Phoenix turned to Audrey and asked, "I know you already gave us a brief idea of what we're going to do...but can you tell me a bit more about these creatures?"

Carson made his way into the building. As he entered the complex, he could no longer hear the loud plopping noises of the rain drops plummeting from the sky. Carson drew in a breath of air, for anxiety began to strike him. He made his way up the stairs until he reached his desired floor and headed to the home of one Audrey Ryder.
Again, he paused and drew a breath. Carson wasn't normally the one to get nervous but tonight was different, he was a hero now. He couldn't screw up. Carson composed himself, and gathered all of his courage and knocked at the door. Not to light to appear weak, but not to hard to appear dangerous. He released a deep sigh, and awaited an answer to his knock.

Audrey smiled to the girl and nodded lightly. It was a fairly decent question; asking what it was they were going after. Audrey had to take a moment to think about how she should explain the things. She remembered exactly how they looked. Taking in a deep breath, she opened her mouth to explain. Just then, though, a knock came from the door. She jumped, her eyes widening as she looked towards the door. Audrey looked over to Phoenix and smiled weakly, trying to shrug off her obvious jumpy nature. Turning to the door, she reached out and undid the two locks she'd put back, pulling the door open. When she saw it was -- hopefully -- the last hero she'd hired to help her out, a sigh of relief came from her lips and she let him in, shutting and locking the door behind him.
Turning back to look at the trio, she smiled weakly. "Okay, so I'll explain what it is we're going after now..." Audrey bit her bottom lip as she seemed to shake a little. Thinking about what she was about to do was making her incredibly nervous. "There are five... monsters. One of them looks like a man. In my dream he was an older man who seemed shaken and tricked me into helping him. He's... not really visibly anything frightening. But he's a cannibal. Once he gets you where he wants you, his teeth will grow into fangs and his eyes will turn white.
"The second monster I would say looks more like an alien. Like... the aliens from Alien vs. Predator. Big, dark... frightening. Deadly... you know.
"The third monster is... some sort of bug looking thing. Actually there's two of them; the third and fourth monsters. They look kind of insect like... but... alien like at the same time. They have long long, thick legs and a giant mouth. They're really fast.
"The fifth monster..." Audrey shook at the though. "It's... a banshee. But that's not all there is to it. It's not just a banshee... but I awoke before I could figure out what exactly it was. All I know is it's really, really freaking powerful. If nothing else... I'd say it was the entity that broke those monsters out of my mind. But... I can't really say."
Audrey looked at the others, a weak grin appearing on her face. She was nervous, she was scared, and she was frightened. There was no telling what would happen once they got to the asylum. What the banshee could do... what her mind would do. There was something she knew that she wasn't telling them, and she wasn't going to. She couldn't.

Carson smiled underneath his mask as Audrey opened the door for him. He listened to the the clicks and pulls of the locks covering the door and his smile faded. When the door swung open, Carson greeted her and entered the room. He stood there as she continued her story about the beasts. Carson made mental images of the beasts and then pondered on the topic for a few moments.
"Then what are we doing waiting on? Let's get to crackin'!"

☯☁ Luciana ❦ ☆Tian Li ♬✦Alverstein Known to all as...ϟPhoenixϟ There is no such thing as a lost battle☮ There is only a loss of heart Sounds like some bad Disney movie with a horrible and twisted producer at its head Phoenix thought wryly as Audrey began to describe the monsters in vivid detail. All too realistic images of the beasts began to form themselves inside her imagination, and she gave an inwards shudder. She absolutely hated bugs, and it was just her bad luck that two of these uncouth beasts had to be some insect thing. Old men-cannibals or not-and normal aliens had never left much of an impression on her. As for banshees? Those were something that Phoenix had often stumbled upon in storybooks, nothing else. In her view, the only place they inhabited was in the smooth words of her Father on long lazy summer nights, telling her tales of the other world's fantasies. Grinning slightly back at Audrey, Phoenix turned towards Carson and addressed his abrupt outburst mildly. "I don't know about you, but I would rather have a plan to go by rather then charging in blindly," She wasn't criticizing, neither was she being unkind. Phoenix was simply trying to maintain a levelheaded environment despite the turbulence around her. Leaning back against the wall, she ran her fingers down the smooth surface. Feeling nothing beneath the tough black leather of her gloves, she stopped and turned towards the others. "Any ideas?"While she was extremely sensible, Phoenix was a doer, not a planner. Strategy had never been her strong point. In those lazy summer months in China, she would often remember engaging in chess matches with her father and losing horribly. No, Phoenix didn't have a head for sophisticated plans. She was simply the one who obeyed orders and tried to keep disarray from forming.

Carson felt somewhat foolish as to how Phoenix had regarded his comment. His smile faded into a grimly serious smirk. Carson pondered for a moment to gather an idea of a plan. He tried to recall the memory of each individual beast. Carson thought about the level of difficulty it would take for each beast to be destroyed. After a few seconds of thought, he spoke in a civil, strong, voice.
"My apologies. A plan is the best approach. I have the ability to mimic any action I see. I have gained a number of abilites from television and YouTube. I also have an eidetic memory."
Carson paused briefly. He felt somewhat nervous. Carson swallowed the saliva that had collected in his throat and looked around before he contined.
"I'm pretty confident I could take one of the insect creeps. Would be helpful if I knew all of your powers..."
Carson began to trail off. He figured he had done enough to ruin his first impression on all of them. Carson figured he'd be rather quiet for the remainder of his time with them.
