School LifeUnlike Wizarding schools in Britain. American wizards have gone a completely different route. All children that have shown signs by the age of 7 receive a letter from the closest PreWiz school. The PreWiz is a school that children go to from ages 8-12. Unlike the large wizarding schools these are small and they are scattered around the country. These schools are dedicated to teaching the basics of magic. There is a lot of practice and knowledge that goes into these five years. Most history classes cover the history of their school and the land around them. Flying covers the basics and a few schools do allow Quidditch. These school host Quidditch games that are against other PreWiz schools. Classes like Potions,Transfiguration, and Charms studies go up to about the 4th level. Some say that this is slowing students down where as in fact it has proven to create well disciplined and bright students who then move onto either Salem or Darkmark. Now Salem and Darkmark are the only large wizarding schools available in the country. Once it was that Darkmark would take only young wizards, while Salem would take young witches. However in recent years, Salem has opened their doors to wizards do to the demands of parents who don't believe in the teaching of dark magic which Darkmark does. This along with it unique approach to education, which offers a variety of unique and fun alternatives. However there are still those that are require for tests. These I.D.'s are important since there are many wizard establishments are hidden within muggle communities. There are hidden wizarding communities and entire villages of witches and wizards. Still a majority hide in plain sight. In order to keep these wizarding communities together there are many newspapers and radio stations that keep them all in touch with one another. ᴏᴜʀ TɪᴍᴇʟɪɴE ❝ We begin in a time of uncertainty. The witch trails that sent panic and fear though the land had ended, but their effects still lingered. Neighbors doubted neighbors and a baby of a community lived in fear. They were considered dark day, where two groups sought the safety of the New world. The first were wizarding families eager for a fresh start and new possibilities, the other was a group eager to shape and control the uncharted wilds for their own dark purposes. As these two desired warred for control, threats from the non-magical community came in view. The Dark forces began a war on two fronts, which of course lead to their doom, but their last effects echo to this day. Darkness grew from within then. With the Trials done, lingering worries about the dark forces return sparked debated so fierce that many lost their lives. Not just was it new hopes verses old laws, but old ways verse adaption. Many old families, those we call Blue Bloods vowed that the only way to fight those of the dark arts was to arm yourself with it. Their voice was strong and steady in a time where a country was just starting to take shape and a community was still an infant. The Blue Bloods chanted this belief "Arm our wizards with darkness to protect our pure daughters." As the youthful wizards had their hearts tainted by the dark arts, they believed in their foolishness that they're daughter would remain pure by studying only the art of household magic. Under this chant and armed with that belief, many minds began to believe that it was the only way to protect ourselves. Thus Darkmark Institute for Wizards was created. Yet young minds can't be caged and so three brave witches stepped forward than and sought wisdom from a craft far older than even those of the old countries. They shared their experience with only those they trusted and thus formed what we call the Witches Coven. This small order of witches gathered in this town where so much fear and hatred had started, pledging themselves to the act of countering the growing darkness with Truth's light. Thus the Salem Witches Coven Haven was born. And it grew... Yes, my students it grew. Despite the attacks, despite the laws, despite the vile words and crude actions done against those proud witches it grew. The voice of those three witches, whose names are lost to time, was steady and filled with truth. So much truth, that not even the fear clouded shouts of the Blue Bloods could silence it. Trust me, they did try. As time passed, each generation would try to break the coven in till they all folded. Even when the laws, issued by the American Administration of Magic, made the schooling of young witches illegal. The school continued to hold strong, merely adapting to the world as best it could. So that the future, you, your daughter, theirs and now those sons that we will never know will be truly prepared for the dark forces that haunt our lands to this day. Whether this is in the Congress Hall of our Senate or with your pen to paper. You and those like you will continue to speak the truth that our founding ladies sewed into the ground. The Coyote, Crow and our dear Lady Spirit would be proud to look upon those who have gathered here to continue their pledge to seeking, speaking, and solidifying the truth.❞ Speech by Former Salem Witches Institute Headmistress Nicola Verali Clearweather

Pʟᴏᴛ ---- ----- ɴᴇᴡS
"It has only been 5 months since the American Administration of Magic announced the end of the Dark Invader attacks, yet what remains has changed us forever. Despite the great clean up, questions and uncertainty still remain, as new clues emerge about what really happened during those dark days. The story that is forming tells us of the plans, The dark plans that formed as our allies across the sea brought about the end the great dark wizard; it appears that our war was just beginning...
...[D]ocuments and letters for public scrutiny, showing that a small number of Blue Bloods, those families believed to have founded our humble magical community, were at the center of bring these invaders in. These families had reached out, seeking the 'aid' of Foreign dark wizards for some plan. The original reason as to why were not disclosed in the papers, however one can assume that whatever motivated them died with them.
The Administration of Magic, also fears that these events will awake old enemies. 'There will many radical groups coming out of the wood works now,' warned Agent Jub of the Agency of Investigation, 'They will now try to sink their claws into any organization...including schools and businesses. They seek to divide and conquer.'
...While we may never know what brought this tragedy to our lands, their reasons or their motivations. We can however see the consequences taking shape..." -Excerpts from Ticker Tock Times article "The Consequences of Darkness" "In recent days there has been to be a flood of Salem news. From the disappears of it Former Headmistress, Madame Nicola Clearweather, to the newly appointed Headmaster who plans to take over for the coming year and plans to revive the forbidden rule of word: co-ed. All this for some of you might be enough, but not for Salem. Salem Witches Institute might be done for the year producing fine witches, but it is still creating news. What is it this time? What about a graduation with a surprise explosive ending.
...said, Abigale Edward new graduate from Salem, 'This Headmaster wants to destroy the balance that has existed for well over a 100 years. I'm not surprised that some alumnae are upset.'
However it isn't just a few Alumnae who are in a row with new Headmaster Quillen. An dark force from Salem's past has surfaced. Calling themselves the Dark Coven. A group founded on the belief that only women can keep their sanity when dealing with Dark Forces and want to make Salem Institute their new home base...Many Professors young and old say that it is impossible for such a movement to gain real ground. 'They appear from time to time,' said formers Advanced Potion Professor Nettle. 'They rear their head up when ever changes occurs in our Community...'
Yet, many are listening to them and this time they seem to filled with a new type of energy. One that isn't about to fade away in silence, as noted at the graduate event. The explosions that literally rocked the school are still felt and the illusion that Salem would never be effected by the extreme forces appearing around the our Community has been shattered. The only question, that we Salem Alumnae can ask now is: Where do we go from here?" -Excerpts from Witching Hour News, "Surprises lurk in Salem's Shadow"
