Shale hadn't planned to leave the comfort of well traversed lands that he called his home. In fact, one might even say it was a spur of the moment decision, completely out of character, and without a second thought as to the consequences of his actions. Regardless, once the idea had spawned in his mind, he had immediately embraced it and wholeheartedly accepted the thought as right.
Toravis knew he had longed to set about a journey and rely only on himself for the better part of the last year. So with a prayer sent up for the well being of his family and a good hunt for his tribe, he had left without a backwards glance. Nothing had felt so exhilarating as the first step into unknown lands - Did the grass really feel different? Was that bird of a different species he hadn't yet hunted? Did the wonders of Toravis' might never cease?
Three days had already passed since he had left his homelands and already the land had seemed so fresh and new in his opinion. Laying down next to a bubbling stream he swished his tail through the shallows and basked in the dappled sunlight filtering through the saplings that sprang in profusion around him. He had yet to stumble across any other hunters tracks or travelers though he had noted the myriad of game trails. Closing his eyes he reveled in the warmth of the sun and let his mind wander as he listened to the sounds of life around him.
