Location: Pewter City Time: Afternoon
There was nothing quite like the swell of satisfaction that accompanied a job well done. Though Neil had been praised and told that he could relax in the break room while the staff set up the exhibit, he was a little too excited to just sit still and linger. He'd done it, all by himself! He'd braved the horrible Magnet Train and crossed continents, made his way through the vast cities, and had safely delivered the precious fossils. He'd spent a little time in the Kanto region to expand his knowledge, and then he could return back to the ruins in Johto--unless, of course, the museum staff here needed his help!
A bit gleefully, he stretched out on the couch that was in the room for exactly that purpose. If only... If only his trainer could see him now. For a moment, he regretting thinking of her for the stab of guilt it brought, but Neil shook his head hard after a moment. No. He wouldn't let himself be dragged down like that. If he could find a way to do it--then his trainer could, too. And maybe, when they were both older and wiser, they'd meet each other again.
He kicked his feet dreamily at the thought, letting his head rest on the back of the couch. It'd be okay. This was a brand new start--his first start, technically. He was going to make the best of it, and there was no way that anything could go wrong now.
Right?

The news had come through the grapevine and a very slow pace, an oddity to be sure but eventually he'd gotten wind of it. More accurately, one of his companions had received the news and, loyal to him as always, the Pidgey had made haste. According to the Pidgey, who had received the nickname 'Hawke' at birth, there were multiple reports of a very rare set of artefacts that would be arriving in the Kanto region soon. More importantly, word of mouth had indicated that they would be headed for Pewter City. Unfortunately, Hawke was unable to provide any further details in regards to what these artefacts were, nor had he been able to clarify times or dates, but, it had been enough to pique the Snivy's interest.
Further digging hadn't posed much of a challenge, the artefacts were a great source of pride for the Science Museum and they were being advertised extensively. Rare, exotic and found deep in the Ruins of Alph, they were boasted to be a brand new and previously undiscovered pokemon. Narcissus had been sure that this was al absolutely fascinating to pokemon fans and researcher throughout the world, but, the historical draw was decidedly lacking in him. Instead, it was the overwhelming awareness of how much the fossils would be worth that stirred his curiosity... It also stirred the more nefarious side of his psyche.
As a business man, it would be beneficial to acquire those and sell them to a more fitting collector.
It was as a businessman, that he soon found himself outside the Museum, hands pressed into the pockets of his coat as he observed the front doors. Tourists swept in and out, some chittering enthusiastically to one another about something they had seen or heard about. In every respect, the Museum was completely unguarded and this made Narcissus's job exceptionally easy. After all, as a member of the public he was entitled to visit the exhibitions - all he had to do was walk in.
In the grand scheme of things he was to act as the immediate distraction, drawing the immediate attention away from his meddling trio of pokemon as they set about pilfering each fossil. His palmite shaped hair, elven ears and striking red iris would prove momentarily fascinating for the public - by the time the novelty had worn off, his trio would be finished and they would be waiting to deposit the bag comfortably into his possession. It was the perfect plan, in many respects, and it even ensured that none of his fingerprints would disturb the surfaces nearby!
It was with this in mind that he strode across the road and slipped through the front doors. He paid his fee, as per request, and set about exploring the museum in a manner that ensured his palmite hair and ears were fully visible and regularly advertised. He was no history buff, but he was sure he could find something of interest to examine in here, otherwise he was in for a very boring twenty minutes or so.
Outside, the caterpie, pachirisu and pidgey all waited for a few moments longer before following suit and slipping through various openings - a door, a window and a pipe. They'd have those fossils in no time!

If left to his own devices, the Cyndaquil would happily spend the rest of the day woolgathering about ancient ruins, artifacts of unknown origin, and maybe a museum exhibit with his name on it. One day, one day. A silly grin lit his face up, and it was lucky that the room was empty, because he promptly rolled all over the couch with delight. When he'd finally settled down, the boy became promptly aware of the sound of footsteps out in the hallway. Was someone finally coming to fetch him?
He eagerly scrambled to his feet, fingers flexing with excitement, but the more he waited... well, the more it became apparent that he was going to be on his own for a while yet.
They wouldn't mind him taking a look around, right?
Pushing the door open, Neil first glanced one way, then the other. The hallway was surprisingly empty. He could have sworn that he'd heard someone though! All the more reason to investigate. "Is someone there?" He chirped, trotting outside and curiously beginning to wander. Maybe the scientists here could tell him what exactly his fossils were! Boy, maybe it was some ancient, powerful pokemon--maybe they'd let him help name it!

He'd been a source of entertainment for long enough and with his patience exhausted in that respect, he slipped into obscurity and down a back corridor. His partners should have been done by now or nearing completion of their tasks and as a consequence it was best that he made himself available to them. It was with this in mind that he placed his hands in his pockets and swept down the corridor, his footsteps faint but ever present. It wouldn't have been entirely inaccurate to assume that he might have been the individual that Neill had heard, but in light of how many professors there were, it was also open to debate. Regardless, he kept his head bowed and seemingly melted into the shadows, quite the feat for one of his stature and clothing preferences.
Undisturbed, he pressed on through the deserted corridors towards a more isolated area of the building. It wasn't long before the Snivy located a flight of stairs and it was here that he chose to wait. Seating himself comfortably on one of the lower steps, he extended his legs out and leant back. Suffice to say, it was quite a comfortable spot and given how well it hid him from view, it also made for a perfect place to lie low. Finally in position, he shifted his gaze upwards and examined the floors above his head - if anyone approached then he would no about it.
A further three minutes or so passed by.
Three minutes of silence and little indication of progress, and then it came, that faint scamper of claws upon a tiled floor as one of his companions approached. He quickly diserned that it was the Pachirisu, given that he was the only one that tended to 'scamper' anywhere. In response, Narcissus tilted himself to the side, withdrew his hand from his pocket and stretched it outwards in a slow wave-like motion to indicate his position...

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. No one was out in the hallway, and confusion twisted features for a moment. He hesitated for a moment before he stepped further out into the open, quickly hurrying towards where he'd last heard the commotion. He knew he'd heard someone. The Cyndaquil paused as he reached the staircase, his bright eyes fixed on the tall, hooded form of the man with open curiosity.
Who was that? Not one of the museum curators, certainly--none of them had been quite so tall! Or... well, so different looking.
"Sir?" The young man piped up after he realized he was staring, undaunted and still painfully oblivious that the Snivy definitely should not have been in here. "Sir, can I help you? Are you lost?"
And was that a Pokemon? That made him trip over his tongue, mentally struggling to understand. Was this a trainer?

If Narcissus had been startled he didn't give this away. On the contrary, he continued to converse in low tones with the Pachirisu before finally waving it away and pocketing whatever item it may have brought to him. He ensured that the item remained obscured from view of course, after all, this encounter was about to awkward as it was and the Cyndaquil really didn't need to know all the circumstances surrounding the Snivy's presence in the museum.
Nevertheless, Narcissus kept his piece and his silence as he waited for the Pachirisu to scamper away from view and it was only when he was certain his companion had escaped to a reasonable distance that he finally turned his attention to Neil. It was at this point that he waited, sliding his scarlet gaze towards the smaller man - he hadn't intended to be intimidating, merely bored, but it was anyone's guess as to how Neil might react. Suffice to say that the Snivy hadn't had enough time to observe and 'read' the Cyndaquil so he couldn't even begin to theorise.
"I am aware of my location," Narcissus replied smoothly, his eyebrow lifting just a touch as he leant back against the stairway and stretched his elbows backwards to provide additional support. "If I were lost I suspect I would be decidedly more panicked," he pointed out after a few moments and then canted his head to the side.
"What can I do for you?" he enquired casually, as though it was perfectly natural for him to be present in this particular stairwell!
