Ryo watched as Neoko's door opened. He could tell instantly that some thing was different and Ryo knew what it was. It had finally hit her. She now knew what he had dragged her into. The chains that he had bound her with. The unforgivable deed that he was force to do in order to keep her safe. He knew that he could not do what he need if she was like this. Her hopes were dashed and she was now chained to his dream. He could not let her loss her own because of this. "We will be meeting up with them at the gate." Ryo paused as he looked at her. "I trust my team with almost every secret in my life but, there is some thing that I must talk to you about now that we are alone." Ryo stopped he could not bare to look her in the eye. Though what he did was to keep her safe, it was still a horrible thing to do. "I am sorry that I forced you into this situation. If it were my choice this would not have been and I would have been able to train you as a formal apprentice and not a guard that I must give the skills to protect me. I do not wish to treat you as such. To me you still a ninja of this village and member of my team, not a tool to be used by anyone. However, ther are a few things that I must order you to do. You may think that the orders I give you right now are strange but, they are the most important orders I will ever give to you." Ryo paused. "Never let what others say about you affect you. You are a strong ninja and no one but you can truly say who you are. Never stop presuing your hopes and dreams. They are what make you strong enough to overcome any obsticle that is in your way. Lastly, never stop fighting for the things you care about most in this world. Without them we would all be nothing but tools to be used. These three orders are the only orders that I will ever wish you to keep at all costs. Even your life or my own. The clan elders made it so that your life belongs to me by clan law. Now I make it that my life belongs to you just as much. We must help eachother to make both our dreams come true." Ryo was finally able to look her in the eye again. Though his composure was still nutural, his eyes held a deep compasion. "Do you understand what I mean by this Neoko." Ryo said softly. It was the first time he had spoke her shortened name out loud.

For the first time ever, Neoko looked at Ryo with anger that was clearly directed at him. "Don't put all the blame on the elders. I'm well aware that they didn't want me in this position. They would have prefered anyone other than me. YOU chose me, not them. Once you became clan leader, there would have been nothing to stop you from taking me on as a student. But no, you had to go above just defying them. You had to go with an extreme insult. You had to make me your guardian...the one member of the clan they hated most. You didn't even have the dignity to tell me what I was giving up by saying yes. I had to figure it out on my own." Neoko stopped for a moment. She knew she had crossed the line with her outburst, but it was bound to happen. She straitened herself up, breaking her eyes away from his. "We shouldn't keep the others waiting." She said, walking down the hall towards the exit.

Ryo felt defeated. In the attempt to comfort her he had only made things worse. Because of this, she might grow to hate him some day. But this was because she did not know the whole truth about his action. He did not have the time to inform her of what he was going to do and could not bring himself to tell her the true reason behind his choice. She did not know that the elders were planning on sealing away her Nanjigan to prevent her from becoming a threat to the clan. And though Ryo knew she deserved to know this, he could not tell her in case the information turned her against the entire clan and in turn, putting herself at risk of being killed off by order of the clan. Ryo let out a low sigh. 'I will bare her hate until she is ready.' Ryo tried to reassure himself as he followed after her. But he could not seem to hide how her words stung at his heart.

Neoko knew that what she said had without a doubt affected Ryo mentaly, and she wished she could take it back. She hadn't been thinking clearly at the moment, and the words just came out. Ryo had been the only member of the clan to show her kindness, to see her for something more than just a problem, and what did she do? Thinking more on it, she knew it was mostly due to the elders that he had to pick her. Neoko wouldn't have been able to get the training she now had available to her otherwise, and her chances of going anywhere as a ninja would have been slim. She now realized that he had given her one thing in return for what he had taken. Ryo had given her an actual reason to continue on her path as a shinobi, even if it wasn't as far as she wanted to go. She couldn't bring herself to look at him, the reflections she saw in the decorations of the hall showing the pain in his face. Neither one said anything as they left the compound and headed off for the gate to meet the others.
