~Introduction~
Ame Hea is the largest island on a planet (Matsi Mukara) covered almost entirely by water. There are four other islands around Ame Hea (Jakala, Himurak, Ertaeh, and Tsumayhi), each smaller than the last. They are identical to each other in everything but size, and are so close together it is easy to travel from one to the other. These islands are located at literally the top of the planet. Not much aquatic life lives near the islands. The water can be very shallow, and around the islands it extends to less than 50 feet. The island is inhabited by talking animals and by elves, faeries, woods nymphs, and other mystical creatures of earth and air. It may appear to be a primitive society, however they value knowledge and tradition above many things. The outer edges of the islands are a tropical setting, and as you travel farther towards the center, things become more temperate until you reach the pine forests where the monarchs live. The monarchs do not rule like a traditional monarchy. They are representatives chosen for each group (the animals and the mystical creatures). They are chosen by a council of earth dragons who have lived on the land for centuries. They know there is an underwater society, but nobody asks them about it so they don't tell.
In other places across the planet, however, there are richly diverse coral reefs, kelp forests, and the like. The deepest the ocean ever gets is 3 miles, with a few trenches that go to 5 miles. The water is very mildly salty, and has a constant rate of salinity across the planet. Fish, whales, and other maritime life co-exist along with water nymphs, mermaids, water dragons, and other mystical creatures of the water who can communicate with the fish and others. There is a whole other world below the the sea. The water dwellers have created a highly advanced society with technological developments unheard of by the land dwellers. What will happen if these two worlds collide?
Something new is stirring. As the creatures of the islands become more advanced, they use more fire. An ancient magic is being, literally, rekindled. The council of earth dragons know what is happening, but they need to let their people find out for themselves. As for the water dwellers, they may learn things the hard way.
