akito represents the god that invited the animals to the banquet

Okay, without sounding like a horrible hell-b***h for picking on anybody, which I don't plan on doing...

YOU MUST NOT SPEAK OF AKITO THAT WAY. scream

*Ahem.* Okay, I know Akito in the anime is repulsive and scary and mean, but you know how Fruits Basket goes into each character's story more and more as the series progresses? And you get to find out how much hardship each character has faced? The same happens with Akito, and you realize that Akito hasn't had as easy a life as you might think. Sure, Akki's the God, and all the other Juunishi are bound to their God by blood, and so they all are drawn to 'him' and obey 'him', but that doesn't mean Akito gets any privelages. If anything, Akki's more restricted because of that.

If Akito dies, a new God will be born. This new God, because of the curse of Dying, will likely be just as screwed up as the old one. Furthermore, Akito is needed for something... we're just not sure what. There's a reason nobody's killed Akki yet, aside from the fact that they are bound to obey their God.

Furthermore, in the anime moreso than the manga, it's stated that Akito was born to die. Imagine that, being born to die? Your entire purpose in life is to die. How would that make you feel? Imagine being a wee l'il kid and being told "No, you can't go to school like the other kids. You can't play with anybody. You're a God, and you're going to die. You can't have a life outside of that." Imagine being told that all throughout your life... it would be pretty depressing. And yes, you'd probably want to bring others down with you.

Also, a little known fact about Akito's abuse of Yuki (a little bit spoiler): it stems from Yuki's rebelliousness. The rat is the God's favourite, because he came first in the zodiac legend. But Yuki was a rebellious boy, and Akito was a little crazy already, so voila! Entrapment, neglect and emotional abuse to break the boy's spirit. Anyway, just as every other character has a compelling, saddening, tear-jerking story, so does Akito. No character 'should die', not Hiro, not Akito, not anyone else. They are all just victims of this age-old curse... and if they died, then Takaya-san's story would be rather pointless, wouldn't it?

Hello ^^ Listen. Some spoilers may be revealed. I don't know if this information was declared but...:
As many have said Akito is god. Of course She is represented by a little red bird, as Kureno-san is the rooster. She is possessive of her family yes, but this is no reason to hate her. She inside is truely scared, she's going to die when she's younger. She's become violent and is considered male to gain more respect.

Akito-chan is a wonderfully crafted character and the bird represents her true self. Sweet and just antisocial. But can you blame her?

Please, don't badmouth her or hate her, we will be sure to learn more about her, please don't fret. Also don't judge until you know the truth.
