“Are you sure you are okay? You can come with us back to town if you want?”

“N-no really I am fine. I will head back before long. H-have a safe trip!”

“And you are sure you have not run into anyone by that description”

“N-no. I am s-sorry I could not help more.”

“Okay then keep yourself safe, it can be dangerous here after dark.”

“Thank you, goodbye.”

She had told a lie, she had met someone by that exact description and he was resting not too far away. She did not know why the Legion guard was looking for Sakn however she felt some kind of strange loyalty to him. In his condition she knew that he would not stand a chance and despite what the men had told her she was sure there was a misunderstanding. She did not see Sakn as the kind of person to do those things; he was so nice... however it would explain his cuts. She wondered right then if it was a idea to run away. He would be fine... maybe.

What had she done? She had lied, lied to the army that Hua was a part of, was her loyalty not also to her? She just panicked, that was all! However she felt horrible and she was way too nervous to ask Sakn about it. Maybe he was a Noble? Maybe that is why they were after him! Maybe he had done nothing at all! She... did not want to believe he was a bad person. She would not! Not until it was proven by a unbiased source, of cause Legionnaires would call a Noble evil...

She sighed and turned around to head back, least she could do was say goodbye and to warn him of the people out looking for him. Maybe he could hide or something, maybe they could avoid them and do back to Lunaria together... Maybe... was he really.... evil?

The ground was warm, heated by the dying embers of the fire Sara had left when she disappeared to speak with the scout. Sakn let his fingers dig into the soft ground as his fins twitched, picking up the soft whisper of words, the sigh of cloth, the clink of swords and armor. He listened intensely, his head turned to watch the area where Sara had gone to, eyes waiting for her return.

Who is she talking to, darling? The words dripped into his mind, not even startling the redhead, who blinked a couple times before continuing to watch for the young womans return.

I'm not certain. He spoke silently to her, as he wished to keep her presence hidden around conduits such as Sarangerel. But it was a lie, because Hyun could already taste the mistrust in his mind; she could smell the stink of Legion soldiers on the air. And what she knew, he knew. They were one single being, a entity that would tear down the Legion and their Emperor, and replace it with his power and her wisdom.

Sara's feet were softer this time, as if she might have taken his earlier advice, but Sakn still heard her before she appeared, and as soon as she came close to the embers, her body shining the half-moon of the night, he sat up. His body was sore, but healthy(thanks to the woman before him), but there was a sourness to his face that had not been there when he fell asleep.

"Who was that?" the redhead growled out, muscles tensing. Sara didn't seem harmed, though she was nervous-looking now. This only heightened the young mans suspision. Had she ratted him out? Was she going to trick him? Kill him? Was she a Legion pet, pretending only to turn him over for death at the hands of some innocent-murdering bastards? Green eyes darkened, narrowing to slits.

"Don't lie, Sara. It wouldn't be wise."

Sara’s green eyes looked at him, she was nervous and slightly saddened, not knowing if she was doing right or wrong she wondered what now? She did however not regret healing him, she might have lied and that might have been stupid however at the same time she had saved his life – she would not regret that. She looked at him as he spoke, he seemed grumpy. Had he heard? Or was his paranoid about the man tracking him? Obviously he must know he was being hunted. He seemed different now and this made her feel uneasy...

“It was a scouting party looking for a man with red hair, tanned skin and bright blue eyes. A man who carried a sword and wore the mark of a koi on his back. A man who... did some very bad things.” She nodded her head repeating what they had said to her, she sighed and looked to the ground, there was no point lying at all. It would just make him angry and she did have to admit he was beginning to scare her; especially because the potentially dangerous man was healed thanks to her. Had she saved the life of a killer? She was praying he would prove her wrong...

“I told them I know no such person... do you know such a person Sakn?” Please tell her they were lying, please tell her they were mistaken, and please tell her that you could not do such things. Tell her she did the right thing because she did not know. She closed her eyes before looking over at him, her eyes watering slightly but not enough to shed a tear. She would not cry... she just wanted to go home now. More than anything. She did not want to be here...

He was alive and safe and she had done her duty... there was nothing else for her to do...

Sakn watched the way the girls face shifted and changed as she spoke, the way her eyes flashed with first nervousness, then uncertainty. Then perhaps belief(in herself or him, Sakngea wasn't sure), before it as back to fear. And when she questioned him, he blatantly ignored her. She knew the answer, even if she denied it. Sara knew it was him, and he had a feeling that he knew something about her as well.

Something that made the young man's blood boil.

"Tell me, Sara, which side are you on?" he spoke calmly, though his words were razor sharp, and slowly Sakn stood, stepping close to the young woman, eying her. "And remember, don't lie."

There was a curving smile on his lips as he spoke, and his fingers ached as Hyun hummed, at his hip. Already the answer was clear in her eyes. And he was certain that his intentions, if what she said what he thought she would, were as obvious as the smile on his face.

She is like a foolish, frightened lamb. But it is only a mask, hiding the rotten heart of a Legion witch, the smiling teeth of the blood-thirsty wolf.

Sakn's eyes sparked at Hyun's words, waiting for the answer he already knew. He could taste it, feel it.

'What side are you on?'

In Lunaria their were two different kinds of people, Nobles and Legionaries. To most the two were completely different species, when a opponent fell in battle the solders did not see it as murder they saw it as a animal being slaughtered. Blood, body and spirit no longer meant anything, maybe in a different time the people at war could be friends, lovers or family however loyalty had made such bonds impossible. Having different opinions to another in this day and age meant you deserved to die in their eyes. With out no crime, conviction or chance to plea a label is all they needed to justify violence. It was because of this that Sarangerel was so secretive about her own alliance.

She knew that moment, that the answer to that question could cost her the ultimate price and even though she hated to believe that Sakn was a slave to the war, a murderous wicked man the way he was acting made her believe so. She had never before questioned the open way she healed people, she was always willing to help someone in need but now the repercussions of those actions were weighing heavily on her fragile frame. She had saved a killer, and any blood he spilt from this second on was not only going to be on his hands but hers too. If he killed anyone else it would be her fault. What had she done?

Her watering eyes swelled more and more until one tear fell down her face, she had always told herself that no one was truly evil that despite the differences the Nobles and the Legion had it all came down to different options, that deep down they were all good people that deep down their was truly no malicious intentions at heart. They were doing their duty, they were solders... justified killers. Martyrs, cold blooded demons in human form making the murder of others a profession. It was a harsh realisation and one she wished would never hit her but for the first time her eyes were open to this war...

It was something that she had been taking with a pinch of salt, she had heard the stories but never seen the characters and now she was faced with a villain it was suddenly more than sad stories. She was in the middle of it and now the choices she was going to make over the duration of the next moments was going to determined her fate. Before the day was out she could end up joining the spirits that she communicated to and their was no Hua around to protect her. Even though she viewed the wolf tamer as a friend and room-mate she knew that she was specially picked out to be her guardian because of her strength and military experience. Her life was in danger and she needed protecting and that is why her and Hua were brought together... it was not something that sunk in till now. Now that she really needed her friend....

"... I am no solider Sakn, I am on the side of who ever needs my help. My loyalty is to the people who would die with out my help. I did not ask you your alliance because I did not care... I was not going to let you die just because you have different loyalties, a life is a life and all is sacred.... It is not up to us mortals to pass that judgement on who deserves to live and who should... die."

The last word was uttered coldly. Death, the end of a life, the final curtain. She was not ready to die, she did not want to die. Since a young age it had stalked her like a shadow, spirits, monsters, lost souls were always present and the exposure to this had made her fear it more than most. She had seen that sometimes there was not the eternal piece that some would lead you to believe. "This morning Sakn, you fell asleep acknowledging me as a friend and its because of this I kept you a secret... please. Last night you thanked me with your name... for this just let me leave. I do not know why you did what you did... and I do not think I could ever understand but I am not part of your war.

She shook her head, her small body vibrating with fear like a shaking leaf. She stepped back slightly, her eyes set on his. She did not want to be hear anymore and the fact he was standing so close made her uneasy. What was he going to do?

"I'm no soldier Sakn..."

Sakn felt something twitch in his heart at those words, for indeed, it would seem the shaking child of a girl before him was less of a soldier then those fat, lazy shoplords in the city. She was no threat, her words screamed. Yet, under her claims of neutrality, Sakn knew there was the heart of a Legionnaire, he could taste it like a miasma around her now, sense it on her skin; see it in her eyes.

When she choked out the word die, the redhead's eyes quickly snapped back to hers. He could see the fear easily in her now. She was young; thinking herself to young to die. That fear softened him, but only helped to irritate Hyun, who burned her hate deep into his heart, clutching like a fiery hand around his emotions. The softness became irritation. Who was she to think she had a choice when to die and when not to. She should have stayed home, never joined this war if she wasn't ready to lose herself to the blade of an enemy.

Not an enemy, but a cause. She will fall for our cause, for the righteous cause.

Sakngea's chest swelled as the words curled around his soul, caging him off from Sara's words. And when she began to beg, offering up excuses as to why she should be let go, Sakn bristled. Begging? She should be defending herself, making ready for the war she was apart of.

"I think," the redhead started, "You know why I did what I did, and I think you know I cannot let you go, Sara. You saw me, you know my location. What is to stop you from running back to the guards now that you know what I am? I can see the fear," the words rolled smoothly off his tongue, and he leaned in close, so his breath tickled her fin, and whispered, "The fear of what I will do now. Now that you helped me."

He pulled back then, and stared at the girl. Then a maliciousness shaded his face, his smile disappearing as thoughts, dark and cruel, clouded his mind. Then Sakn spoke again, eyes never leaving the young healers:

"I change my mind. You may go, Sara. Run as far as you can, but know that if you slow down for even a moment...even a moment," the redhead trailed off in thought, before his hand slipped down to the hilt of the sword still planted in the ground. Slowly, he pulled it free and finished, "I'll catch you, and kill you."

A single moment of silence then, the moon crawling across the sky; the cry of an owl in the distance.

Then:

"Best start running, child. And hope you find your Legion hoard before I catch you."

He wanted to play games?

It was all a game to him?

She could not believe what she was hearing, he wanted to play with her very life for his own amusement? She shook her head, the tears halted to reveal a look of shock on her face. She already looked like she had been in a battle, his blood was already on her hands from earlier and she had sneakily hid them behind her back when the soldiers approached. She shook her head, how she wished she had told them the truth. Her naive child like hope that everyone was good on the inside had landed her in a world full of trouble.

However this was a chance.

"I am sorry Sakn, I could not imagine what it must be like to have such a cold heart so deprived so love and humanity." She uttered looking up at him, it was the last words she was going to speak to him as she took the chance she had been waiting for. She spun around and started to dart off into the forest. The hat in which she cleaned his wounds was left lying on the floor were the fire had been which meant her long hair was flying all over the place.

She felt like a sheep running from a lion and her heart raced in her chest. She did not know the forest too well and for sure did not know where those guards went so all she could was head back the way she thought the village was. She knew she only really had one hope and that was that Hua would come and get her. Oh why did she not listen to her, why did she come here! Sara closed her eyes as she ran, mumbling to herself. "Please, find Nori, get Nori." She whispered hoping the spirits would answer her prayers. She kept running, even if she was not the fastest and even if her legs were tiring she knew if she slowed down she had lost.

What was it with this witch and her words? Sakn growled deep in his throat as her words burned into his mind. For some reason, every thing she said caused him to pause, to think. Was he truly deprived of love? Of humanity? The young man stood there as she disappeared into the brush, the thought burning his mind, making him uncertain; causing him to question the very thing he wished to do.

Wasn't he doing everything out of love? Wasn't all of this, the killing, the blood, the death- wasn't it all out of love, for his mother, his father? Xiu? Wasn't he doing this in the name of righteousness, for the sake of the people struck down by oppressive rule?

Yes, yes you are darling. Now go, move, chase her! Hyun sounded strained, stressed; irritated. She was holding back the urge to scream, to yell. But yet, even as her power caressed his soul and caused his blood to race, Sakngea couldn't move, couldn't respond. Sara's words were like a spell, he could shake the question; the feeling that this was all wrong. Would Xiu believe that he had love in his heart if the boy saw him now?

Would he love Sak--

I HAVE TRIED TO BE CALM, SAKNGEA. I HAVE TRIED TO SHOW YOU THE RIGHT WAY. BUT IF YOU WILL NOT LISTEN, I WILL MAKE YOU.

This was a new voice, a new side of Hyun Chun that Sakngea had never glimpsed before. This was cruelty and hate, ruthlessness and a hunger for a blood. Never before had the spirit taken over his form, controlled him. She had always urged, coerced from the sidelines. But now there was a burning in Sakn's joints, a heat in his toes and fingers; a raging fire as Hyun broke his control and took over. It was painful, it hurt so bad that the young man screamed like a wild beast, crumpling to his knees as the echo died around them.

"Aaah, to have a body again," the voice was wrong from Sakn's mouth, a woman's voice, echoed with a tone of masculinity. The movements as he stood were wrong too, too fluid, to feminine. The way his fingers stretched, the way he stood. And the redhead could do nothing about it as he moved through the trees. Only watch.

"Sara, sweet child. Don't hide. Let's talk," the voice cawwed from Sakn's lips as he shifted through the forest. And as he stepped, animals in trees scurried away, birds shuddered and escaped by wing, bugs crawled deep into the earth. Everything could taste the wrongness leaking off the redhead now; it was like a disease. Evidence of his possession.

And with Hyun in control, Sakn could see Sara's energy, a trail through the woods that lead straight to her. It was easy to follow, and even easier to catch up to her. Within minutes, the redhead had caught up to his target, and even though the wrongness of this situation was burning his tongue, he couldn't warn the girl, could stop it. All he could do was watch as Hyun moved his body till he was just behind the girl, maybe ten feet away, invisible and silent; all he could do was hope that his master was correct...that this wasn't murder. This had to be righteous.

"Call for your gods, your helpers, your heroes, little girl. They won't come in time to save you," Hyun called out through the redheads mouth, his green eyes glinting malevolently. And it was in this moment that Sakngea stepped forward unwilling to grab at the young girls long dark hair, that a bird(an owl perhaps? Something big to be certain) screamed down from the trees, it's talons raking the back of the young man's skull, blinding him with pain-- but more importantly startling Hyun, causing her to lose her control of his body.

And Sakn said the one thing he could, the one thing that was really from him, from his soul. "Don' stop runnin'!" before Hyun was back in control, though in the time she had been distracted by the devil-bird, Sara had managed to slip away again.

You will pay for your insolence, Sakngea. Then, out loud:

"HE MAY TELL YOU TO RUN, BUT DO YOU THINK YOU CAN SURVIVE? DOES HIS WORDS GIVE YOU HOPE? I WILL TEAR THEM AWAY, GIRL. I WILL TEAR YOU APART, YOU AND YOUR PRECIOUS HOPE."
PostPosted: Tue Feb 22, 2011 2:41 pm

Sara screamed as Sakn grabbed her hair pulling her back, that moment her heart stopped if not just for a second. She seriously thought that was the end however lucky for her one of her forest friends came to her aid. Sara loved animals and respected all living creatures as equals. The fact that one was to be so bold to aid her in her time of need brought a sense of comfort to her. The large owl flew foward and Sara darted after it, using it as a vessel to lead her threw the forest, she did not stop. Not even for a moment.

She was confused, more so than she had ever been, it was almost like he had a split personality disorder or something along the lines of. He was arguing with himself, referring to himself as two personalties in one body. She thought hard, then for some reason something that one of her teachers told her sprung to mind. "Not all spirits are peaceful Sara, some are vengeful, some are angry and part of our duty is to appease these angry souls. Some would even go as far as to possess a innocent in order to cause harm to those still mortal. After all, the dead envy us." She looked back, maybe this was not Sakn. Maybe her instincts were right and he did have a good heart. Maybe he needed help.... but the skills and knowledge needed to exorcise a angry soul was way beyond her level...

As she argued with herself about how she could help, if she could do anything at all, her clumsy nature kicked in and she found herself falling over a rock and landing in a shallow puddle. She leant up dirty water dripping from her long frazzled hair; she was no vision anymore, covered in blood and mud made her look like her old self. The peasant she was before she came to Lunaria. She tried to stand up to set off again but as she did she felt a twinge in her ankle. Damn it! it was twisted and even though she could stand she knew there was no way she could run as fast as she was despite attempting to. She turned hearing her attacker catching up. All she could do was hope that Sakn would be able to regain control and hope her training to keep her safe until Hua came, she knew she was coming she had to!

"His words do give me hope witch! You are the trespasser in his body and he can reject you.... my faith can never be broken, not by a demon like you." She called back, Sara as it stood did not have a medium, her masters were yet to give her one since she was still a fresh student however they had showed her one or two tricks in how she could use. However they were all still new to her.She knew she did not stand a chance, she knew that... she had to believe Sakn would help her. "Sakn please you have to fight the demon. I might not know you much but I know you are a warrior, a man of honour and there is no honour in this. Remember what you fight for, remember those close to you and ask yourself if this is how you really want to win your war, with the blood of innocent people on your hands. Please you need to help me.... I will die if you do not fight with me. I-" She began looking to the floor, they were in a clearing and even though she was terrified... she had to stand her ground, if she did not fight he would kill her.

"I will save you. I promised I would!" She called holding her hand up in front of her. She knew he was coming and even though she was scared... she would die if she did not do something. It looks like this was were their battle would start. She did not want to fight... it seemed like she had no choice. No way would her ankle let her escape... and hiding would be less that useless.

Sakn walked slowly through the woods after Sara, a crazed smile splitting his serious face, fresh scars from previous battles shining in the light of the night moon. It made him look mad, insane or worse. And perhaps it was all true, perhaps he was mad. The redhead felt like it as he watched himself come upon the girl, who was laying like a lame deer in the water, her hair thick with mud and her clothing stained with his blood. This is what he had become, this was what he was now.

And as Sara began to speak, the redhead realized this wasn't what he wanted. As he came upon her, his hands reaching out for her, Sakn wished nothing more then to stop. She wasn't going to rat him out, she hadn't planned that at all. He had assumed and now he would kill her, because Hyun wanted him to.

Was all of this because Hyun wanted? Was everything he'd done in her name or his?

"Sakn, please, you have the fight the demon..." the words pierced Sakns thoughts, and he would have cried out if Hyun didn't have control of him. He wanted to fight back, wanted to be free. Wanted to be in control again. This was wrong, so wrong!

But where Sakn didn't want this, it was evident from the manic gleam in his eyes that Hyun did. Hyun hungered for blood, for death of the Legion. Of all who opposed her. "You can call to him all you want, child. You can remind him of what he's done, what he will do! You can use your words, but they will do nothing for him. He is mine! MINE!" the last words ripped from Sakn's throat in a scream, and Hyun drew the dao from his side. The metal seemed to glow pale blue in the moonlight; a demonsword and Hyun's tie to the real world.

The crazed man paused for a moment to look at the weapon, eying it as it was a loved one, a best friend. And then Sakn stepped forward, his toes sliding into the muddy water of the puddle until he stood just in front of the foolish healer.

The sword glinted in the night before Hyun let another manic smile cover Sakn's face.

"Call for him, little girl. Call for him as you die, it will be suiting punishment for him to watch you beg without being able to stop it. Perhaps he will not disobey me again, after this."

The sword came down then, hissing through the night like a deadly beast, cold and sharp, hungry for blood.
