What I did over summer vacation. . .
For some reason, Joanna Rhys-Davies could not finish her simple essay question. While all the other kids at school wrote about pretend adventures or discussed the field trip to Disneyland, Joanna had nothing to discuss. Unlike the other children, she lived at the: Sunshine Orphanage on 32nd St. As much as she tried to adjust to life without having parents of her own, Joanna simply had nothing joyious to write about or share. Faced with the option of revealing that all she had done during the summer was watercolor pictures in a coloring book and take pictures in the park, or lie; Joanna lied.
But the question, once sparked in her brain, refused to leave. Faced with the reality of how dull and hopeless her life was, she decided to do that all kids dreamed of doing at one point in their lives:
She was going to run away and join the circus.
Not serious in her admition, at first, Joanna simply escaped in the night and began hitchiking across the oregon state.
Hiding in the back of trains, buses, or turnip trucks..
Until a man named Jacoby Palmer caught her sleeping in the back of his big rig.
After hearing enough about her life history to know she was on her own, Jacoby had only one suggestion, and pulled out the flier for: Ringo Circus. Old and crusted, Joanna had to spend two minutes smoothing out the wrinkles to even read the damaged document, and when she could she discovered that the date marked on the paper was May, 1979. There went that idea. The Circus had ended many years ago, Mr. Jacoby had stated, because he himself had once been a juggler working for
Z a m b o n iXXK i t e. His death from a fatal accident had ended the circus on it's thirty-fourth anniversary, and since then his son: Casper Kite, shut the Circus down and now lives his life in a trailer park just outside of Memphis. Working as a manager for the Zamboni Movie Theatre. Being a stubbornly optomistic child with nowhere else to go, Joanna came up with a brilliant idea.
"Maybe I can convince him to start the circus again..."
Mr. jacoby certainly wished her luck. Very few of the circus performers were even avaliable at this day and age, and the few that weren't had jobs working at other Carnivals or for Barnum and Bailey. Or given up on carnival dreams...like he had.
Folding the beautiful, wrinkled up, poster and stuffing it into her pocket, Joanna would soon begin her adventure to revive Ringo Circus. No matter how long it takes.
But she would not be alone in this endevour. Together with Nathaniel, Billy Jean the trapeze artist's son, his older sister [insert name], and Daniel a newly found friend living at Evergreen Trailer Park, they will stop at nothing to rekindle Ringo Circus. Maybe they can even convince Casper to re-open his heart again and take his place as the currant: Ringleader.
Will they succeed and bring these broken families together? That is up to you: The Storytellers.

I'll keep things short and sweet for you.
 I am not God in this rp...We all are!!!
I will -only- accept 'real-life' pictures for your characters. Please! please do not be afraid to use photographs of 'plain' characters or characters that aren't classically beautiful. I do not mind having a few pretty characters in my role-play, but I want them ALL TO BE NPCS. When all of them look stunning and gorgeous, it breaks the realism of the role-play, and I want this particular rp to be realistic. So please, no 'movie' stars or famous people, unless they are NPCs or not actors the average person would know about. Playing as 'taylor swift' will get you a metaphorical whack from a roll of internet newspaper. xd Plain people need love and have personalities too; but, if you can't play as a 'normal person' because it ruins your 'fantasy' or makes you feel 'unlovable' maybe your too young for this role-play. X3 I am only suggesting/hoping that you can use 'plain' actors or actresses, but you do not have to go nuts trying to find someone 'just' decent. (For your pics, I suggest going to deviantart.com to find them...because people younger than 16 are not going to be able to be found on modelmayhem...)
Role-playing Guidelines: No stealing my basic plot-line without contacting me first. No being a complete googenflaugin and deciding to brutally slaughter everyone else in the roleplay for no reason. (Only NPCs can 'die' without permission, so don't kill anyone without asking if its okay with me.) ONLY I CAN KILL OFF YOUR CHARACTER! (but I will only do so if you are inactive for at least a week and you never answered my pm. If you had a real life drama, just warn me first, or tell me when you get back. I will gladly allow you to make another character if you were away for too long from personal reasons.) No cursing every other word in every post you do - you'll make yourself sound stupid...really really. *nods*.
As for 'making love' I will do what all PG.13 movies do, and have the scene 'fade out to black'; or otherwise intitled: Skip until later. I am not afraid of that happening in a role-play, to add much needed plot/drama; but, please do not describe it. Here or the Pms. (that personally is a 'couples' thing to me, but its not even allowed on gaia, and I don't want you in trouble). WE ARE PLAYING AS CHILDREN FOR PART 1 OF THIS STORY! So this will not even be an issue unless the kids overhear two npc's discussing a 'night' together or something...But I am putting this in the fine print to cover my booty.
Make your posts pretty, add a few pictures or song lyrics, etc, because I love it. ( whee ) My only rules in this regard is to not -drown- your post in the decor. I would like to be able to read your post without averting my eyes every few lines like an ADHD child because of shiny gif images. :3. You see this color? See how you had to 'squint' to read it, yes...please don't use really bright colors -all the time- for your characters. As this role-play is very specific on posting colors, please do not steal another character's posting color for talking or thinking. Burrowing it for decorating your post is a whole 'nother story, so feel free to be creative. Requirement is only name and picture...:3
Yes. You must use my profile skeleton. They are hardly profiles, just basic name and age because I believe that the role-plays last longer when the biography or 'traits' are revealed 'during the role-play'. Adds another small element of mystery to the rp.
Please use font sizes 10 or 11. They just look so much better.
Read your posts before you click 'submit'. A lot of errors can be avoided by reading your posts out and seeing how the words flow together.
There's no paragraph size or any posting regulations. Just give us something we can work with. (even if its only three sentences. Sometimes, its all we can do, but I expect you to try and have fun, throw in a few twists, and not stress about this rp) I'm sure we'd all prefer two paragraphs of substance than ten paragraphs of drawing out what would sound better in two. The only reason I don't go nuts about length is because when there is no 'limit' I can 'unleash' my creativity. When I'm really inspired I tend to write 'cut scenes', which can evolve into monster posts. Just have fun! No pressure. I know that sometimes the ony thing your character can do is 'nod' or say 'okay. But try to draw that out into one paragraph as much as you can, not three or five. (unless you want to of course) My rule is: write from the heart, have fun, and the length will take care of itself.
I totally don't care what you label the PM you send to me for the character you want to reserve. Anything you want, once I open it, I'll know what it's for anyway. Just know that I only reserve profiles for a day, so try and send in your profile as soon as possible.
Because this rp is *entirely* seen through the eyes of these 'children' (if no one claims the older sister she will become an npc) I do not want you to make 'NPCs' main characters. You can personalize them in the 'background' of your post, make them a part of this lovely story! But please don't post with an npc, making them a 'main' character until part 2. (when they are older)
More characters can be added at any time if you want to join'...but please keep in mind that I am looking for 'plain', 'ordinary' people, and I would like you to try and find people who you wouldn't normally want to play. :3

With a soft spot towards the girl, the only thing preventing him from growing attached to the little bugger is her constant pleading to reopen Ringo Circus. Which explains why she was quite surprised when a little girl followed her son from school talking about Ringo Circus. Having been a part of the original circus his father hosted, she has been itching to be a part of starting it up again ever since Joanna arrived and declared her intentions. Thinking Joanna the best thing to happen to her 'adopted' son since his parents passed away, she has been ignoring all his threats of 'calling cps' under the assumed notion that he will eventually adopt the little thing. Seeing Jacoby Palmer after all these years was certainly strange to behold; but, perhaps together they can find enough contestants to truly have a worthy spectacle.  xxxxxxxxxxxThe Juggling Truckdriver.xxx63 | male | darkgrey A social recluse since the closing of Ringo Circus, Jacoby pops into this tale on rare occassions. In-between travelling on the road for long periods of time, he often checks up with the 'old' circus members who still managed to keep up contact. Being an unofficial godfather to Layla, he set up a little get together between her and Casper to try and convince the man to rekindle the circus again...or at least give that little girl a permenant home. Whether this idea gets off the ground of not, at least it gives him a distraction from his granddaughter's escapades. xxxxxxxxxxxThe Brilliant Firedancerxxx23 | female | seagreen Cora is Jacoby Palmer's pretty little granddaughter. Trained by her older brother Paco to breathe fire like Casper Kite, she encorporated it in a dance routine that she used in her auditions for Barnum and Bailey. Just barely making the bar, her dream ended when they chose another talented dancer instead. Still practicing for an act she may never perform, Cora works as a hairdresser in the salon: Curl up and Dye, as well as holding a part-time carreer as a local tattoo artist.  xxxxxxxxxxxThe anxious Liontamerxxx24 | female | #7e587e Layla is a liontamer who has been employed at another Circus for the past four years. Trained to deal with lions since she was old enough to be allowed in the 'cages', she is impeccably good at her job, and loves forming relationships with these dangerous creatures. However, there is another liontamer who is just as talented at training the lions as she is, and there is talk of her being 'replaced'. Should she do the honorable thing and look for work, or wait it out when she knows in her 'gut' that she shall soon be let go anyway?
