I'm a fan of some paranormal romance, although a lot of it is frustratingly cliched and/or hegemonic with traditionalized gender roles.

Does anybody know of fat women in romance films, or romance genre fiction? Chubby love stories? =o I've seen some fat guys, but never a heavyset woman, and I've come to the reluctant understanding that when the author describes a woman as "curvy", it means "120 pounds but slightly hourglass shaped with moderately wide hips."

There is a new show called Mike and Molly, about to chubby people that fall in love. It's cute.

Do tell. =o

Would you consider it to be fat-positive, or is there a lot of emphasis on fat jokes and dieting?

Yeah, I'd say it's pretty positive. I mean, I've only seen it a few times, but it seems like any other romance.

There are a few fats jokes and things, but not really bad ones.

I know!
I love the paranormal romance genre, too. Though the only female protagonist that I have come across that was not, as you so eloquently put it, “120 pounds but slightly hourglass shaped with moderately wide hips” didn’t look at her body in a positive way. She was a full size twenty, and had major body issues. But the amazing guy who loved her cures her of them tout de suite.
It was a very good book. I loved the positive body image it gave to chubby/heavyset readers. I was on cloud nine when I read it.
In most of my paranormal genre books, the females are described as childlike. And I’m silently thinking “Hello, are you condoning *****!?” >:[

I haven't found much really. the only thing manga-wise was a hentai called BBW 02...And that...was just disturbing.. mrgreen
You have to treat women like ladies, and not like that ever I think.
>< Or other hentai...Aparently they think only perverts like big women. XD
