The tide pushed against the sunlit cliff face, driving the pale levitrias higher on the plateau of the Caverns-Guarded-by-Rock. She turned her head to follow the streaks of light rippling against the sediment, her tendrils waving with the slow sweep of the current. A school of silver fish streaked past her, and she snapped at them halfheartedly, not in the mood nor stomach to hunt. Stings-With-Many-Limbs felt as though she could lay against the warmth of the sun and the soothing beat of the life-giving water, waiting, waiting, much like her namesake that lived far above in the surface of the great ocean. But she was a creature driven by more than the quest for food and the endless drift across the waves, and so Stings-With-Many-Limbs lifted herself from her resting place on the far side of the Caverns, and propelled herself slowly away from the dancing light of the sun, into the depths of the ocean where she rarely dwelt.

She was a creature of thirst, the levitrias knew. A thirst for more than the sunlit surfaces of her home, for more than just the gathering of her father and mother. She was a young levitrias, and perhaps, she thought, this was why her sunlit home could not hold her anymore. Like the creatures-of-many-limbs, she yearned to drift.

And so she did, farther and farther into the ventures of the dark ocean, watching the sweeps of kelp and fish pass her, run from her massive form, leaving her familiar light for the depths of cold rock and sand.

The icy temperatures of the depths were cramping up a particular Levi's muscles, causing him to react slowly and have troubles with his propelling fins. To fix this situation he searched the black and blue abyss for something that was familiar to him. A vent where warm smoke blue out clouds of minerals and heat. At last, he navigated through the dark, lingering just outside of the burn zone so he could warm his chilled body. Once he had relaxed and gained more control over his limbs he zoomed off, creating a trail of drifting bubbles behind him.

The youthful male's eyes drifted along the blob of darkness, searching for a glint of anything. Down here he felt at home. In the dark he felt as though he could see and not be seen. Up above was where he loathed. The place where sunlight can reveal his large mass. What he wouldn't give to be the size of a krill and sneak around without being detected. For some reason, he was drifting up and up towards the surface though. Just deep enough to remain in the murky mixture of where light meets dark. He could see a grand patch of a kelp forest and thought to himself, 'The perfect place to observe some unsuspecting prey.' He swiftly glided towards the forest, instantly tangling himself in the safety of the kelp, attempting to camouflage with the greens of the plant life and the black purples of the shadows. His eyes flicked around cautiously, waiting for any sign of movement other than the gentle rocking of the kelp.

Stings-With-Many-Limbs passed into unnerving darkness, her eyes soaking in the dying light with a hungry intensity. The ocean grew more dismal as she trailed farther and farther down its depths, the constant companionship of small fish and sharks leaving her as she approached the roots of a great kelp forest. The light here was almost nonexistent, and she wondered how the kelp had grown so tall and magnificent in the murky, violent pools of sediment and freezing water, and ran an uncertain look at the large, slow fish that swum around her, their dull faces a stark contrast to her pale and effervescent body. A shudder ran through her body as she slowed to nuzzle the kelp roots.

I must move, the levitrias thought, this cold is so unlike the surface. And with another look toward her examination of the bulbous kelp root, she snaked her bright fins through the dense, impenetrable forest, unmindful of the other creatures that cowered before her vast size.

The massive size of a Levi was nearly impossible to conceal with mere kept, yet that certain way his colors seemed to match his background gave an uncanny cloak of invisibility. The smaller creatures that drifted around near to the ocean floor caught his attention. His eyes were forced to focus on the details of tinier beings. Well, that was up until the point where a brightly hued beast glided through the bulky roots of the greenery. His eyes seemed to be fixated on her and nothing else. That's who he'd prey upon today.

To this gentle temperamental giant she was something unusual and unique. Since he mostly spent his days in the dark it was a sight for sore eyes to witness such a gal down here in the deep. It was either a strange coincidence or them being in the same place at once or fate. The well muscled male lightly fanned his fins, dragging himself lower and lower along the stalks of kelp, trying to make his way down to her level so that he could eye her on a more personal level. Once he was at the same depth he drifted closer and closer, hiding just behind the tangled curtain of kelp. He wished that he could get closer but that might blow his cover.

Whilst he was silently, and successfully stalking the illumines female and counting each of the outstanding vivid stripes upon her body a small violent creature seemed to n** him right on the fin. It had just been a curious little shark but it was enough to upset the male. He pulled back his fin and gave the little creature a snarl before smacking him all the way into next week. The poor goliath of a male didn't realize how true to his aim he had been and the shark bullet through the murky water until it smacked hard into the female. He gave a small gasping noise and sunk into the shadows a bit more just for safety. His eyes were glued upon she who's name he did not know. 'God damn it... stupid stupid stupid!' he continued to mentally slap himself for being so careless.

The kelp cover strained her eyes to see through the rippling water, although they adjusted well enough to make out the murky shapes of fish and plant. The darkness made her uneasy -- even in the dark of night, the surface still glimmered from the light of the moon. Here it was always dark.

As she evaded a knotted branch of kelp, a snarl suddenly ripped through the water and something slammed into her neck, propelling her backwards. Stings curved immediately, tendrils flaring and her face bared in a frightening snarl --
where -- where -- who dares -- she made out the stunned body of a small shark floating in the water, and bit into it without a second thought leaving its bloody body to darken the waters, her eyes lighting red with angry instinct. But a shark was nothing against her, and could not swim as fast as what had hit her, and her tail whipped up a frenzy as she glared into the dark of the kelp forest. But there was a large shadow, larger than her, against the kelp forest that she had thought was the dark before -- but it had moved, shrinking, and so she twisted her fins angrily toward it, tendrils splayed in an aggressive ring around her face.

"
Who--" Stings-With-Many-Limbs spat, despite feeling a sense of dread at the large shape of grey and green, which shadowed her and her light form. There were not many creatures bigger than her. "-- come face me!"

The shadow of grey and green shifted, and she could make out the telltale glint of eyes from behind the shifting curtains of the kelp forest.

The not so stealthy male knew he had been caught and knew that this game he was so fond of was over. The shark that had hit her before laid a bloodied mess that drifted like a falling feather until it rested upon the mucky sea floor where it would stay and become food for scavengers. The tint of blood fogged the naturally transparent water and caused a sickening twist to make the male Levi twitch ever so slightly. He was somewhat amused and somewhat frightened of the way she violently allowed her anger to get the best of her and not long after her fit she stilled enough to catch his eyes. He was sure they were focused on him, for her posture was directed at him an one hundred percent defensive.

He had to make a quick decision now. Retreat into the dark abyss where surely a surface dweller like herself wouldn't be able to track him down, or confront the fuming female in hopes of calming her down. Moments passed by and he remained still, hoping she would just thing that he was a shadow and move along her way, but that didn't happen. So, choosing his second option he slowly slithered out of the kept, head lowered slightly as he eyed her, clearly trying to display his lack of venom. "I apologize... I did not mean to have such a precise aim," as he spoke his mouth curled into a toothy grin. "The name's Hides-In-Shadows. What might your title be?" He asked in a soft and curious undertone, hoping that all this slow and steady movement would sooth her rather than make her suspicious.

The shadow moved -- hesitantly, it seemed, and Stings-With-Many-Limbs held her tendrils in her defensive display, her heart still beating strongly against her ribcage -- it swam outwards, flattening kelp beneath its gaze, and she realised it was another levitrias.

He was larger than her, maybe almost one third bigger than her, and as dark as the waters around her. His tendrils flickered with shimmering blue and purple, and his tail, which was kept submissively low, was striped with the same blue as his fronds. He was... quite the being, she realised, even as her her defensive tendrils lowered a little. But his light eyes and the way he pressed towards the shadows made her wary. Who was this strange levitrias, who had such dark colouring as compared to her sisters of the surface?

"
I apologize... I did not mean to have such a precise aim," the levitrias said, his teeth glinting against his striped chin. Aim? Stings thought with some derision and distrust. Why would he be aiming a shark...

"
The name's Hides-In-Shadows. What might your title be?" the levitrias continued steadily. The female levitrias eyed him warily, her fins splayed in order to make herself look bigger. Slowly she lowered her tendrils into a more relaxed position, though she kept her fins wide and ready to fight. Hides-in-Shadows was not a trustworthy name, no, not for someone from the light-lit surfaces of the ocean.

"
I am Stings-With-Many-Limbs," she answered threateningly. "Why have you attacked me?"

Hides-In-Shadows' submissive features seemed to be settling her nerves down for the most part but clearly she wasn't planning on letting down all of her guards. No, of course not. That would be unsafe. Then again, it was also unsafe for such a brightly colored Levi such as herself to be lingering down in the deep. If she had ran into a more offensive male surely she wouldn't have stood a chance. At least, that's what he thought. He didn't personally know Stings capabilities.

"Why have you attacked me?" she spoke with such a sense of hostility, sending Shadow to drift back a little bit, not very trusting of her poisonous tone. "That's not what I intended to do, honestly. The creature merely startled me by deciding I was a tasty snack so I flicked it away... I guess I might have lost my temper for a moment. Surely, you can't believe that I planned on hitting you. Why would I want to harm such a lovely lady?" He tried to flatter her so that she wouldn't consider him a threat. His tail swished back and forth idly while his own tendrils laid close to his his body, making him appear smaller for the girls own comfort.

Her nerves only felt more rattled as he called her a "lovely lady." (Though she blushed in the quiet recesses of her heart, having never felt the flirting, slowly-caressed words of another male before). Stings decided to believe the male for a moment, as he appeared to appear smaller to her and kept his head lowered, so she lowered her tendrils and swum a little closer to him, curious despite herself. Hides-in-Shadows was the first male levitrias she had seen besides her sire, and this dark, handsome levitrias could not be more different from the opalescent, brittle male her father had been.

"
I suppose you could not have meant to hit me," she replied, slowly letting go of her anger in the face of his dark, calm guise. Her curiosity and longing toward the mystery of the depths of the ocean, once her instinctual panic had resided, led her to say ask, "Do you live here? In these depths?"

(( I have to leave you nowww, my dear Marziii. ;^; I shall be back! Sometime. XD ))

While he rattled up her nerves his seemed to be settling quite well. He hadn't even realized his heart had been pumping torrents of blood until he recognized the slow of his thumping heart. Maybe he should stay clear of such compliments for a while? He was considering it, until he noticed how she began to float closer to him ever so slightly, trying to satisfy her own curiosity. His cyan eyes also picked up on the small gesture of politeness as she lowered her tendrils for him. Much to his surprise he was okay with being seen by her. Usually, he despised when creatures looked directly at him and took notice of his lurking presence but something felt different here. What must have helped him decide that this was okay was her agreeing with him. She was accepting the fact that he didn't harm her on purpose, like she first suspected. That was good progress.

"Do you live here? In these depths?" the female spoke with a luring curiousness in her voice that lead Shadow to think she wasn't used to meddling down in the deep. "I do... and I think it's safe to assume you do not belong down here." He swiftly propelled his body to up and swirl around her, inspecting her bright and detailed markings. He was absolutely loving the way they glistened in the occasional rays of the moonlight. The kelp was forever moving in the waves and thus so were the shadows, giving a rocking sensation as if they were on a boat, when in fact they were somewhat still. This was a surreal moment for Hides-In-Shadows. "What lead you to drift your cuteness down to these levels?"

Hides-In-Shadows twisted around her, examining with bright eyes her effervescent scales. Stings-With-Many-Limbs felt uneasy excitement run through her fins at the perusal -- she was young, and no male had ever looked upon her for so long. And this was not a male smaller than her (for they usually were) but a great, handsome levitrias with a siren's deep, magnetic voice. Her fins palpated against the cold water as she slowly turned in the water, following his movements.

"
What lead you to drift your cuteness down to these levels?" he asked, arching his neck. His pale eyes sparked in a dimming shaft of moonlight. She replied softly, her tendrils fanning behind her, "I felt restless in the surface. I went looking for something in the deep..."

After the great beast of a Levi had satisfied his curiosity he began to slink backwards into the swaying kelp, at least covering half of his body. He wouldn't submerge himself entirely in the secretive shadows if it made his new lady friend uncomfortable. Hides-In-Shadows soon got comfortable with wrapping his long tail around a stalk of kelp to keep himself 'grounded'. "So you thought by lingering down here you'd find something to relief your cravings for something new? .... and tell me, miss. Did you find what you were looking for?" The curve of his smile grew with a troublesome smirk, his eyes narrowing on her all the more. Clearly he had been implying that he might be what it was she was looking for, but he didn't want to come of as a total creep.

"I may have..." Stings-With-Many-Limbs answered slowly, her tail swaying gently behind her. Her head tilted downward as she reveled in the slow caress of the shadows shrouding Hides-In-Shadows. The smirk that stretched across his narrow face revealed his gleaming teeth. A shudder traveled through Stings' lithe body, warming her chest and fins. Perhaps this is what she had been looking for, so far from the surface and the calm waves of her sister levitria. This -- dark, handsome, dangerous male -- far larger than her and with an unpleasant gleam in his eyes, but a voice that called a siren song to her very being. She undulated slowly in the black currents, and continued lowly, "Though I'm hesitant if I should travel on..."

Her eyes gleamed under the wavering light of the surface, dancing on the small scales of her head.
