Tess smiled and opened the car door for the young boy. She smirked quietly to herself as he slid into the beaten up, paint chipped, disgusting car. Great, he'll think I'm a messy, horrible Gaian. she thought to her self as she closed the door and walked around to the driver's side. Starting the car she looked toward him uneasily.
"I'm sorry about the mess, in all of the excitement I didn't have time to clean up, hope you don't think I'm to horrible."
"No, it's perfectly al right," Unless your home looks like this.
As they approached the house Declan's eyes lit up. "You live here?" He exclaimed looking at the perfectly plowed drive way, the snow that seemed far to white to be real, and the beautiful old house.
"Shocking, isn't it? considering the way this car looks!" she joked happily, pulling into the drive way. Declan reached for the door handle, Tess continued, "I've got to warn you, my nephew Tagon lives with me,he's a little older than you. He can be...well a little hot headed. He's very sweet, most of the time, extremely agressive,though."
Declan was already starting to like this place, it was filled with mayhem and "agressive" youths. On the way to this perfect little house he'd seen a car wreak, and he'd heard shouting, screaming, and plain out harassing of other people.
"I'm just hoping you and Tagon get along, he's not one to follow the rules." Tess said quietly, He seems like a sweet, young boy, hopefully he stays this way.

Tagon stormed out of the house roaring, "You've got no right going into my room!" He howled at Tess, "eyeing" the new boy evilly. "Who's this?"
"This is Declan Keth, I told you that we would be excepting a Neilan exchange student," Tess said bluntly glaring at Tagon. "I went in your room to get a few things that may help Declan feel comfortable in his new surroundings."
Declan watched the two as they fought and a feeling of excitement came over him, he no doubt had seen fighting, but he'd never seen people just out right hate one another. Tagon looked back at Declan frowning.
"The twirp can use my things I guess, but I want some of my books back."
The three of them entered the house, Tess drooping slightly at the excitement of the day, Tagon ready to pick a fight, and Declan fascinated and startled by his new surroundings.
Tess led the way up the staircase, as they walked Declan was sure the stairs beneath him would give, they squeaked and moaned, bowing beneath his weight. Tess directed him to the room at the end of the hallway. As the two entered Declan was surprised by what he saw. The room was furnished with a maple bedroom suit, including two book cases, and an a small desk. Gaians are obsessed with the way things look, and they are overly emotional to the point of fighting over it.
"This is where you'll be staying, I hope it's okay. If you need anything changed please feel free to ask anything. My only rules is that you keep your room tidy, and please don't write on the walls. Tagon has a bit of a problem with following that last bit."

First Journal Entry
Finally, a moment's rest, this whole world is one quick blur in a long line of blurs. Tess is a nice enough person, she's given me everything I think she'd wish for herself. She even left a journal on the bed with a little note inside. I'm not fond of this whole idea, although Gaia is turning out to be a great place! I figured this entire experience would be to please my family, but I do think I'll like it here.
The room is great, except for the extremely ugly orange carpet, that'd be the only thing I'd change. The bookcases stand empty, save for a few book ends. I'm not much of a reader, but it'd be interesting to see why Tagon wanted those books so badly.
Tagon himself is really interesting, he's extremely emotional, I can feel hate coming from beneath the door way, and through the walls. I'm not even really sure why he's so mad. That'll be my little task for the rest of the week.

Monday, February 14, 2005
Tess bounded up the stairs carrying a large box of chocolates and a giant stuffed gorilla that says "I'm wild about you" across its chest. It was a cheesy gesture, but she wanted to show him something nice. He'd seen enough of Tagon and Tess fighting, and she didn't want to make a bad impression. She knocked quietly calling to him, "Hey sleepy head, are you up yet?" She called. Unknown to Tess, Declan was still curled up pretending to be asleep in bed. He hadn't slept well in his new surroundings, the tree next to his window was casting shadows and scratching against the window.
"I'll just leave these gifts by your door, Happy Valentines day!" She called and set the Gorilla and chocolates down. Before she had left the hallway he'd opened the door lazily and was starring at her.
"Tess, what's this?" Tess continued walking down the stairs, humming to herself.
"Tess!" Declan called and rushed after her, tapping her on the shoulder.
Tess whipped around and looked at Declan smiling. "Sorry, didn't see you there, did you sleep well?"
"What're these things?" He asked, "A giant primate and a heart shaped container?"
"It's Valentines Day. We express our love for one another, I'm sure you've seen something like this right?" Declan shrugged and picked up the gorilla rubbing his hands along the plush fur. "Thank you." he whispered looking up at her.
"On the counter there is a letter for you, maybe you'd like to come down eat breakfast? I made heart shaped pancakes!" They both raced down the stairs laughing loudly.
Unfortunatly it was a little too loudly, Tagon grumbled and rolled over in bed. He'd hated Valentines day since he was five, it was the day his life was flipped upside down. He wiped the drool from his chin and walked down the stairs, following 'A little to chipper #1' and 'A little to chipper #2'. He's doing nicely here, he's fitting right in with Tess, I would have thought he'd be a littler different, maybe a little less...Gaian?
"It's Declan right?" Tagon said chewing through a pancake. Declan's eyes widened at the soft tone Tagon was using, he nodded chewing with his mouth closed.
"Sorry for being such a jerk, I was just thrown off guard by Tess going through my things. You're welcome to borrow almost anything you'd like."
"I think, I'd like that." he actually has a "nice side."

Second Journal Entry
Tagon let me look inside his room today, it was like I'd imagined it. Over crowded, messy, and it had a slight odor. I think Tagon and I will be friends. He was pretty 'nice' today. He still felt hot, as if the anger was just bubbling under the surface.
On another note, Vilden sent a letter, he wants me to come see him. He also thinks I'm going to "wreak havoc", I wouldn't do that. At least not yet. He wants me to find Jun, but he doesn't even know where she is! I'll ask Tess to take me over to see him. I can see it now, the Gaians have built a shrine in his honor. They might as well, my parents practically have.

Tess slinked up the stairs to Declan's room for the second time that Valentines day. His door sat open, and he lay on his bed writing in his journal. She smiled to herself, watching him for a moment before announcing herself, "Declan, I've got one more little gift for you." Declan looked up at her frowning for a moment, as he sat up a small smile appeared across his face.
"You really don't have to give me any gifts at all." Tess pulled an egg from a knapsack and set it beside Declan on the bed. Declan watched the little egg for a moment and then looked back at Tess. "What's inside?" He tried to keep the emotion out of his voice, but the excitement was too much for him.
"I'm not quite sure, I believe it's a Shorno, they're something like goats. The person I aquired it from said that this little one will be quite special when it's born. It may not be much fun taking care of the egg, but once it hatches you'll have a handful!"
Declan picked up the egg and set it in his lap. The egg is a bit different...goats don't come from eggs!

Third Journal Entry
She gave me an egg? Tess has been acting very happy lately. Compared to the temper tantrums and the mess between her and Tagon, I'm actually relieved. Tagon has been letting me borrow his things, for the party I went to he allowed me to wear his clothes. I'm actually really liking Gaian styles and clothing. It's a busy and extravagant, but I like that about it all.
The egg hatched yesterday, I named her Kaslin, it's after one of the characters in Tagon's books. He lets me go into his room now, even when he's not in it! He said I could use anything he had, as long as I asked first!
He's really opening up, he's not as angry anymore. I heard Tess talking to someone about how "Tagon just needed someone else to talk to."
I suppose that could be true, I still haven't figured out why he was angry in the first place.
I'd like to meet more exchange students from Neilan, I have only met one and it was a brief moment. Melete, she seems a little less content than I am with Gaia. She didn't talk too much.
Note to self: Go visit Vilden!
