"A few hours... I guess I could go meet them," Skhmet said and headed toward the stairs. She looked back over her shoulder at Marseth, surpressing a giggle at how much she thought Marseth's glasses made her look bug-eyed.
"You'll tell me when you finish, yes?" she asked, putting one paw on the first step.

"Yeah, yeah. Now, off you go, stop botheirng me." She waved the girl up the stairs, then returned to her job.
This wasn't good at all. She had been planning on slacking off, but now that girl would probably be checking every few minutes. Dammit! She wasn't in the mood to work, especially not on anything for Kanesakht.

Sekhmet nodded and nimbly climbed up the stairs. When she came up, she found they were speaking in a language she didn't recognize. "Marseth said they came from the upper world. Maybe that's the language Mother speaks," she whispered under her breath, pausing at the top of the stairs to wait until they invited her to join them. One of the was still a kitten, but the other was looked the same age as her. She wondered which one was which and hoped at the same time that the bug-eyed book-keeper would finish soon. She liked being solitary and calm. She hoped neither of the males were excitable.

SHandar looked up at the noise on the stairs and shot a glance at the new Dumyr. She appeared to be the same age as him. He raised an eyebrow and hoped she wouldn't be as boring at the female he had met back in Barton. "Hello." He said with false cheer in the unfamiliar Dumyr language. "You are?"
He was begining to regret agreeing to stay. Social butterfly was hardly on his list of desirable titles.

Sekhmet nodded to the male. "Sekhmet," was all she said and walked forward, sitting down near them. She curled her tail around her paws and looked from one to the other. "Kanesakht's apprentice. And you two are?" she asked, not really caring, but wishing to pass the time. She missed her mask at home, but maybe he wouldn't talk much.
She looked the green male up and down. He seemed... aggitated. That made her feel better. At least she wasn't the only one uncomfortable being here.

"Kalena is a wonderful woman, but she works a lot. I think she knows your guardian. I remember her mentioning that she adopted me after hearing about you from him. I only met Miss Marseth last night, and I was so tired that I fell asleep immediately after dinner." Jahi said meekly. "Miss Marseth looks a little tough, but I hope it's just part of her guise."
Pawing at the carpet fringe, Jahi tried to wake up his brain enough to carry on a conversation. He wondered what was Marseth's intent of lumping the two of them together. Shandar was pristine and looked quite bored of him already, and Jahi felt increasinly worried that he would need to entertain him.
"What is your mentor like?" Jahi asked, feeling nervous to ask such a bold question. The last thing he wanted to do was give Shandar the wrong impression. "She's really important, isn't she?"
Jahi's eyes widened as another cat joined them. A female who he'd never seen before. "N-n-nice to meet you. I'm Jahi..." he faultered in the native language

Shandar looked from Sekhmet to Jahi as the kitten spoke and yawned again. It was not fair being woken up so early in the morning. "My name is Shandar." He said to Sekhmet. "My mentor is Akhetnnami."
Thirning his atention back to the small kitten he listened to it speak. "Really." He said to Jahi in english. "My human never spoke about you or your keeper." Shandar smirked, he might have done, but Shandar never paid attention to any of the small talk. "Akhetnami? I'm not sure. I cannot form an opinion on her yet, though she seems cold. Which suits me fine."
He turned back to the female. "What do you know of Akhetnnami?" He asked in his shakey Dumyr.

"Very little, actually. I only spent enough time with her for her to drop me off at Kane's house," Sekhmet spoke slowly after realizing that they did not know the language very well. They definately came from the upper world. She nodded at Jahi and then turned back to Shandar.
"Perchance, did you happen to meet a woman named Reeshie Volpe?" she asked, curious to know about her mother.

"Oh, really? That's a shame. Kalena spoke so fondly of Mr. Hakim," Jahi said again in English, ears flopping in disappointment. "I only met Miss Akhetnami this morning. She's so... elegant."
Jahi felt his cheeks warm slightly. Elegant would be an understatement of his impression of the councilwoman. He found her absolutely gorgeous and relaxed, and quite different than his own mentor, Marseth. Thoughts of visiting the councilwoman's offices danced in his mind, making his flush even more. His red face markings looked brighter. Shaking the silly look of his face, Jahi attempted to regain his composure.
"No, I don't believe she has, not yet at least. Kalena liked taking me places." Jahi continued, turning his head back toward Sekhmet and shaking it slowly. "She met several of the other guardians before I came back here. They all seemed nice, but I was to shy to really pay attention to any of them."

Shandar shook his head and looked at the flushed kitten. A smirk played across his lips as he turned back to the female. "I do not know the person you speak." He said in his broken Dumyr. "I met only a woman named Trin. My person kept alone."
Stretching his wings a little he looked around the room and back to his two companions. "Is there much to do for amusement?" He asked both of them, though the question was more directed to Sekhmet.

Sekhmet was a little disappointed to not hear anything about her mother, but if she showed it she didn't know. When the question was posed to her, she mearly shrugged. "I stay inside mostly. However, some of the shop owners are... an enjoyment to talk to. Especially the old apothecary owner. Well, he's better than most," she replied slowly, glancing towards the stairs when she said most, listening to Marseth working.
"After this errund, I get the rest of the day off to explore the marketplace," she added offhandedly as she turned back to the males.

As the conversation progressed, Jahi continually began to feel out of place with the older cats. The more they talked, the less he felt like he had anything in common with them other than being an apprentice. He simply listened to their talking, looking around quietly as they continued talking to one another.
