Old folk of Skara Brae,
A cold mist blows in from the sea
And your world fades away.
You listened to the pounding of the sea
And you followed the flight of the birds.
You buried your dead under the floor
And you talked to them in your dreams.
You built great monuments to the sky
And burrowed deep into the earth.
You slept with the cool moon
And woke with the fiery sun.
You knew how to enjoy life
And prepared calmly for death.
Old folk of Skara Brae,
A cold mist blows in from the sea
And your world fades away.
