"Oh, I dunno why we howl either. I like it, it lets me..." she had to find the right way to put it without it sounding weird. "It lets me stretch my voice, if that makes any sense," she said with a smile. "There's that, but then it also has some more practical functions. Depending on how you howl, you can make a pack seem like one wolf, if you can howl and throw echoes with it, you can make a loner sound like a pack to keep away other wolves. They can be howled for celebration, warning, other messages," she said, figuring that the extremely long list would be too much to go through. "But like I said, I like it most because it lets me stretch my voice. Plus it sounds pretty, don't you think?" she asked before continuing immediately, eyes turned to the sky with her brow furrowed a bit in thought, "Or maybe that's more of a wolf thing, liking the sound of a howl so much,"

"I don't know any snow leopards up there," she admitted with a smile. "That's not to say there aren't any, but if there are, they stay out of sight. I imagine one colored kinda like me would blend in well in the snow," she pondered. "It's a good thing you're in the mountains, then!" she said with a nod.

”No, I find some howling pleasant, the more on-tune kind of course. I didn’t know there was so much meaning to it, though.” It sounded like some alien, instinctual thing. Similarly, he wasn’t sure he’d be able to explain why clawing at trees was so relaxing.

“It suits me,” he agreed.

"It's kinda like singing then, I suppose. It can be good, it can seem simple, but have a deeper purpose behind it, I guess. And like singing, it has to be in-tune," she added with a chuckle. "I can sing, too. It's kinda like howling, but not quite. There's actual words in there, with singing, you know? Well, most of the time," she said, motor-mouthing. "I mean, there can be singing without words and it can be just as good as singing with words sometimes, I guess. Depends on the heart you put in it," she said with a finish, curious how a song would carry through the mountains.

Pyotr’s ears had fallen into the habit of twisting and twitching when she spoke, more when she rambled, as if searching in confusion for the heart of the matter. When she mentioned she could sing though, they steadied on her. “Could you sing a bit – if you don’t mind that is?” he asked as humbly as possible.

"Hmm? Oh yeah, I could. I've gotta think of what I would sing though," she said, mind already reeling through her repertoire. Which song would a snow leopard like to hear? She had songs about hunts and communities, and other songs that were just tones throughout most of it. Songs for warriors, songs for leaders... Just about every type that she knew.

However, se decided on one particular song, a song for the lone wolf. Of course, it might be different for a snow leopard, because they were normally solitary, weren't they? "Just remember, though, I'm not the world's best singer. And this song was made up by wolves, about wolves, so I'm not sure the words would fit you or anything," she said with a sheepish grin, hoping she didn't mess up horribly.

She cleared her throat, gave a small whine-hum, and then started singing a song about freedom, independence, resolve, and strength, for those were the traits it took to simply survive as a lone wolf. The song had a lilting and uplifting tune, and she only missed a couple of notes through the song. When she finished, she looked at Pyotr with a smile, "I hope you liked it!" She said with a grin.

Pyotr flicked his tail around his feet and watched her, his ears the only thing more intensely attentive than his eyes. He used to sing as a younger cub, when his baby fluff had been trading out for his adult coat. It was usually a wordless shifting of notes though – he’d known no songs and hasn’t been clever enough to think up his own. It had been no match in skill to what the wolf sang out now, but his heart went soft with memory.

He smiled as she finished. “I did. Thank you very much for that.”

Xing was quite conscious of his gaze as she sang, and it made her a little nervous, but not enough to make her stop or to throw her off. "I'm very glad you did," she said when she had finished. "I haven't sung in a long time, it's good to have a chance to, you know?" She was honestly kind of surprised that she had remembered the words to it- that was reassuring, odds were that she remembered most of the words to the songs she knew.

"You like singing?" she asked, wondering if she had hit the nail on the head. After all, it wasn't just anyone who enjoyed her singing- some did, but most didn't request it of her. It wasn't a big deal or anything, she enjoyed singing too.
