You are a normal teenager leading a normal life. You have school, friends, maybe a crush on someone. However some people are targeted by demons for a tasty meal as their inner souls are unusually more appetizing than others. To protect them, angels from the heaven above are sent to protect these individuals from harm. For the most part the angels will live close or beside them and follow them wherever they go in order to protect them from the demons. It also becomes the pair's responsibility to find the demons and hunt them in order to make sure they are safe in the future. Of course the human may not believe the words of an angel since it would seem like crazy talk.
Humans are just regular humans. Any combat ability is limited to school activity levels. Magical abilities can be shared between angel and humans.
Angels are assigned to protect a certain human. How they protect the human is up to them. They carry a weapon of choice and have certain powers with them. Their job is to protect their human and get rid of the demons that want to harm or eat their human.

Question, why are the students being protected? Is there a reason why their souls are tastier than others? Not trying to be offensive but it kind of sounds like a "Pick a guardian and fight evil" story and it doesn't really have much background.
Some Ideas of mine:
The Guardian Angels could want to devour the humans souls too, but instead of being straight forward they try to get them off-guard.
Or the typical "Chosen Ones to defeat Evil Route"

well the idea isn't a strong one and i could use other people's ideas.
Some new ideas are there are demon portals opening in the city and they need the chosen people to close them up. Their souls were originally born more potent than regular people so they are far more desirable to be consumed.
Anyone else have an ideas of how they want the plot to be?

Nice that works. So how about their souls are kind of like eyes but the angels need to unlock the power.

not sure about what you mean by eyes, but yeah. the angels should slowly unlock the powers resting in their human and their powers would slowly develop. Of course, students would need to stay at a low profile otherwise they might be considered a freak or abusing their powers. that sort of thing.
