"Busy, maybe... stressed, clearly; useless? Hell no," Richard said directly, not really noticing he sounded surprisingly close to Logan's own voice when he spoke. He tilted his head slightly. "We all have trials and regrets in life; it's changing what you can and moving on with what you can't that tells everyone who you are and how strong you are, and trust me, you're very strong, even if you don't see it," he said softly.

mina sighed slightly " your wise beyond your years." she said ruffling his hair as she spoke. before looking around them " it's been a long time since i heard anyone speak like that. you sound like logan."

Richard blinked. "Nobody's ever said that about me, though when it comes to 'wisdom beyond my years', it mostly comes from harsh experience," he said softly, amused.

mina put and arm round richard and hugged him " everyone has hard times in their life, i should know i've been around for a long time." she said softly shuddering slightly as she remembered some of the things she had seen.

Richard shifted his weight subtly. "Life has a way of keeping us humble and at times, showing us what humanity's capable of both at its best and worst," he said softly, his tone soft yet thoughtful. If I had one hour with Hitler, I would have shoved an ice spike so far up his a** he would have had its tip sticking out his nose, he thought.

mina heard his thoughts and chuckled " i wanted to do that to him quite a few times during the second world war. " she said before her eyes widened slightly when she realised that she had admitted how old she really was.

Richard blinked, momentarily surprised at his grandmother's words. So what if she's lived that long? It doesn't make a difference to me; life may last, but eventually it ends no matter age or skill, he thought.

" i've lived a long time. Me and logan have met up with each other at different points in time since the first world war." Mina said softly we've saved each other's lives countless times in the past." She sighed slightly as her mind drifted back to some of the times they'd been together. The last time had been the time she had concieved their mother.

"So both of you have healing factors that arrest the natural aging process to some extent, effectively making it a form of immortality; I know immortality is usually referred to as being 'exempt from death' but I doubt anything can really escape death," Richard said thoughtfully. "It really depends on where the healing factor actually originates that would tell how to truly stop it," he murmured under his breath.

mina nodded " i know that, i almost died in berlin. Logan just managed to get to me in time." she said softly "believe me you don't want to have the healing factor, especially the times when it hurts like hell to heal yourself."

"Like being badly burned," Richard murmured thoughtfully. He shifted subtly, his gaze dropping to his right forearm; he knew what it was like to be burned; his uncle had once had an affair and the woman had been an abuser. She'd enjoyed putting cigarettes out in his skin and holding a car cigarette lighter right next to the skin just to torment him.
