Kanita ______________________________ Even from the top floor, Kanita's ears caught the sound of screaming. It was a constant shriek, the same pitch and a breath apart. It sounded like a wounded animal, but Kania knew better. "It must be a Zombie," she said, "I wonder if that boy is alright." Kanita pressed her face to the glass once more, she tried to see into the store. But she was too high up and could only see dark shapes.
Kanita cursed herself for being such a coward, if the boy was uninfected, than he was in trouble now. If she had been the one down there, would he have helped her?
Of course he would, it was humane. Helping each other is what people do, that boy needed help right now and Kanita was the only chance he had left.
But what could she do? Kanita's only weapon was her kitchen knife. She began to cry again, Kanita was so helpless.

Sepal Tura ______________________________ The Zombie began to groan, Sepal had his knee pushed between them. He could feel the bag boys rips, they inhaled and released an ear splitting shriek. Sepal yelled back, he screamed at the top of his lungs, right in the zombies face. And for a moment their struggling stopped. The bag boy was looking at him with what was almost curiosity. Sepal, having never encountered this, took the boys actions as a moment of hesitation. Sepal thought this was pure luck. He planted his foot on the zombies chest. With a swift kick, he sent the scrawny child flying a good eight feet away. He landed on the candy shelf and scattered the empty boxes. Sepal got up fast, he took his machete and angrily cut the dead woman's body from his boot. He snapped her arm in half and rushed forward, with her hand still wrapped around his ankle. The bag boy looked up frightfully, he screamed a mouthful of different sounds. They could have been words, but Sepal didnt understand any of it. Sepal knew from experience that zombies couldnt speak. They couldnt think, or feel. What had once been a friend, was gone. Whomever this person was, that person was gone too. "Your just a ******** animal," Sepal said aloud, "You've got rabies or something, and i need to put you out of your misery." The boy shrieked a response. Sepal shook his head, he brought the machete up like a base ball bat. "I wont let you infect anyone else." With one strong swing, the boy's head was broke in half. It was like cutting the top off an egg, his brain lay exposed. His lips parted and Sepal listened to the zombies last words. "wwwhuuuu - uhuh" His eyes rolled back and he fell over dead.

Kaya Kaya heard screaming and stood still. What the Hell?... she thought. She then went back to the matter at hand. If she ran, she could probably make it to the door and into Kanita's, assuming the door wasn't locked, without getting attacked. But was she willing to try it? What if the door was locked? Were there zombies outside? There were other people in this apartment building after all. She decided to risk it. Grabbing onto the door handle, Kaya wrenched it open, knocking a stray block into the doorway to jam it incase she needed to make it back. As it turned out, she didn't. Looking around the hallway, she realized it was completely deserted. She grabbed onto Kanita's door and tried to open it, only to find it locked. "Kanita!" she screamed, seeing a zombie start down the hall towards her. She pulled out her gun, but she'd rather not waste the bullets. "Please, open up! It's me, Kaya! I'm not a zombie! Help!" she cried out, still struggling to open the door.

Kanita ______________________________ Kanita gaped, her sobbing had muffled almost any sound, but she was sure that just now, someone had called her name. Kanita held her breath, and prayed for the sound again. She heard pounding on her front door, than a familiar voice. It was her neighbor Kaya! How had she survived? Kanita opened her mouth to speak, but her voice was horse from days of crying.
She tried again, " Wh-wait," her voice cracked, "Let me find the key!" Kanita ran about her apartment, she searched the counter tops and drawers. She had never dreamed of opening her front door again, so the key was no where to be found. Kanita shook her head in disbelief, "I cant find it," she whispered, than more louder, "I CANT FIND IT!" She began to sob again, than between her tears a glimmer of hope.
The key was on her window sill, reflecting the sunlight.

Kaya Kaya sighed as the zombie drew closer to her. "Quick, Kanita!" she said, looking at the rotting face. She didn't bother hiding disgust. She quickly loaded the gun and pointed right in between the eyes. Not hesitating, she pulled the trigger. The zombie looked at her for a moment, blinking and rasping something. Kaya delivered a kick to the center of it's stomach. "I'm so tired," she hissed, "of you freaking zombies!" The zombie fell and she shot one more bullet into the head, breathing hard. She looked around. No other zombies seemed to be on this floor. She was just about to turn and tell Kanita to her one more time before something caught her eye. Leaning down, she shook her head. I must be mistaken. There's no way... She looked at the zombies wrist. She didn't want to touch the rotting skin, but her eyes hadn't been playing tricks. On the wrist of the zombie sat the wrist watch she had given her boyfriend just last week. She could barely hide a sob. "Why?" she cried, leaning up against the wall and waiting for Kanita. She looked down at the body again. How had this happened? Why to them? Why to him? She slowly rose, having a new hatred for zombies. It wasn't anyone in particulars fault about this but... Why this town? She had been so happy before. And now... Just look at what she had done. She quickly dried her eyes, vowing to herself that she wouldn't let this get to her. She was one of the last survivors, and sacrafices had to be made. He had tried to kill her. It wasn't her fault. She waited for Kanita, trying to look strong. Even though she was still crying on the inside.

Kanita ______________________________ Kanita stumbled across the floor, her hand reached for the key and her fingers closed around the cold metal. Suddenly, there was a BANG!, outside her door. Kanita screamed, she didnt know what had happened but fear engulfed her. She slowly go to her feet and inched her way to the front door. "H-hello?" Kanita pressed her ear to the wood, she could hear the soft sound of sobbing. She knocked on the door, Hello? Kaya? Are you still there?" Kanita put the key inside the lock, she had to force herself to turn it. Every cell within her body begged her to remain hidden, to keep her door shut and locked tight. There was a quiet click and the door was open.

Sepal Tura ______________________________
Sepal also jumped at the sound of the gunshot. He turned in circles, his misty eyes scanning the entire store. But there was nothing, no one else but the two infected he had just slaughtered. Sepal knew that a sound like that would of awakened several more undead, they would pour out of houses and gutters, it would no longer be safe to walk the streets. But there must be someone somewhere alive, someone uninfected. who else could have pulled the trigger on that gun!
Sepal ran from the store, he forgot about everything. Sepal no longer cared about food, water, guns or toothpaste. He simply wanted to find someone uninfected, someone he could talk to. He stumbled, Sepal's boot was caught on an over turned shopping cart. Sepal remembered about the dead women's hand. He knelt down and tried to use the tip of his machete to pry her fingers loose. But the task was too tedious. Sepal's mind was racing, he needed to find the owner of that gun. He didnt have time to cut the hand from his ankle. So, with quick decision, he left it alone and made his way to the middle of the street.
He took a deep breath, and yelled out into the empty city. "Hello, is anyone there? Can anyone hear me? Please, someone. Answer meeeee!"

Kaya Kaya slipped into the room while loading another bullet into her gun, which she always kept loaded just in case she needed to slip it out quickly. She slammed and locked the door behind her, sliding to the floor and smiling at Kanita. "You do not know how happy I am you are still alive!" she said. She slipped the gun into her jacket and leaned her head back, sighing. "I thought I was the only one left a live..." Kaya heard someone scream and blinked, glancing at Kanita. "Was that just me or did you hear that too..." she asked, standing and sprinting toward the window. She saw a boy standing in the street. She looked around the street, feeling so... glad. Two more people. It was amazing. Through this tough time, she wasn't the only one alive. She waved towards him, franticly bouncing up and down. "Kanita! We aren't alone! Look!" she called out to her friend, grabbing onto the girls arm.

Kanita ______________________________ "I didnt know if anyone was left sane . . ." Kanita began to say, "Or alive" but the boys shouts drowned out her thoughts. She followed Kaya to the window, her friend seemed so happy to see another person. kanita wasnt so sure about her own feelings. Was she happy too? Kanita found that the sorrow and self pity she had been feeling earlier, had vanished. In their place, was a soft warm feeling. Kanita absorbed Kaya's enthusiasm. She began to pound on the window with all her might, in an effort to get the man's attention.
"Hey! Over here! Look up! We'r alive! We'r here!"

Kaya Kaya nodded in agreement. Until today, she had felt all alone. She waved and banged on the window. "Amazing..." she murmured, happy she wasn't alone. She quickly turned to Kanita. "What if he can't hear us?" she asked slowly.

Kanita ______________________________ Kanita gave her friend a very sad look, "he cant hear us?" she repeated the words to herself. Her eyes darted back and forth, between the boy in the window and one of the kitchen chairs. An idea came to mind. Kanita quickly took Kaya by the arm, "Help me with this." she insisted, "Lets break the window open, he sure as hell wont be able to miss that!" There were four small metal chairs, Kanita lifted one over her head with a very naughty grin. She ran toward the glass window and with all her might, she sent the chair flying ahead through the air.
The chair hit the glass with a CRACK, but bounced off just as fast as it had been thrown. There was a spiderweb like pattern, but it had not shattered.

Sepal Tura ______________________________ A reply came, but it was not the one he had wished for. All around him, infected had began to climb out of the wreckage. Once a dead, empty place. Now the town was full of movement and noise. Sepal gulped, if he didnt move soon, he would be surrounded. But if he started to run, then that would draw attention. His eyes shifted from side to side, looking for an exit and counting the number of people. From a clothing shop, there were three men, a women and a teenage girl. From the gas station, two men and a boy. Sepal counted four more stumbling from the alley. . . . There were so many!! Sepal cursed at himself for being so stupid. He should have stayed on the roofs! Down here on the ground there was nothing but trouble.

Kaya Kaya looked at the window, wondering what they could do. She picked up the chair Kanita had thrown and tried throwing it again. The spiderweb pattern grew bigger. "This isn't working!" she groaned. She saw the zombies start to come after the boy. "If we could only get him to hear us somehow..." she said, going to the window and standing, looking out at where he stood in the center. She looked at Kanita. "There is one way... What if I shoot out the window, and aim take out the zombies? I think my aim might be good enough..."
