That's a pretty good question. I love all three of the books so far, and to me they each one offers something unique from the other two.
'Eragon' is the beginning, and as such it sets the stage for this epic journey the story has evolved into.
In 'Eldest', Eragon is forced to mature as he is thrust into all the strange politics that are necessary for each race to function, and he grows stronger for it.
Finally, there is 'Brisingr', in which we are shown just how far the simple farmboy has come. This book is also the installment that confirmed the theory I had since the first book that Brom was Eragon's father.

im in the ari between brisingr and eldest but i <3 them all soo much you do really need to read eragon first oherwise it will make no sense trust me i know.. i have read each more han six times XD
