I was thinking awhile back about how L could have lived. That one was easy- had he paid more attention to the fact that Rem liked Misa, he might have been able to place her in a situation where she would be forced to kill someone immediately threatening Misa- say, another deranged stalker with a big pointy knife. Watari would have lived too. But what about Mello, Matt (even though he gets 18 panels and no backstory, he could have been a cool character, plus, he was crucial to the story- had he not fired that smoke bomb, Mello wouldn't have been able to kidnap Takada...yada yada yada), Rate Penber and Naomi Misora, Soichiro Yagami, poor Ukita, and so on. With the story ending in the yellow box warehouse. That was the hard part. What do you guys think? Which characters could have been saved without altering the plot too dramatically, and how?

well L could have survived if rem died after killing watari. L could have faked it with the help of the task force, remember the manga is from the view of light/raito and rem's death didn't seem to have a set time (at least not to me)

yeah i agree to that L could have survived if rem died...........
i wish they could have die....
if they do the story will be amazing...
