shoeless joe
Do you consider yourself an environmentalist? How does it fit into your libertarian thing?

I see humans as just another species; a mass extinction event of simple biological origin. The balance that can only be upset by human activity is a myth. Extinction is par for the course, and any action taken under the pretenses of 'conservation' that does not involve building huge spaceships and leaving with everything is a waste of time. The whole thing seems to be largely motivated by selfish subjective value judgements.

That said, I think people should do whatever the ******** they want at all times. This includes becoming attached to presently existing species and pulling sweet manuevers. I consider myself an environmentalist in the loosest terms you'll let me, and I allocate my own money accordingly.

okay um I'm not a environmentalist but I do think that we are just a bit better than anything else on this earth I am catholic but well I can differ from the church in places like gays rights and abortion but I do believe that we have a great chance to become a great people who are united by personal responsibility and moral fiber not government or enforcement but
that day is not today we are alittle different by nature and we have made great progress in separating us from nature as we have crated a nature of are own one where we are together to help each other but that is not done by force but the kindness of are hearts not the forced bailouts or taken from Timmy because jimmy doesn't have the same box of toys life is not far this a nation of equal opportunity not outcome

I wouldn't call myself an environmentalist per se. I think nature has economic value. I don't much care for the aesthetic joy of large schools of cod so much as I like that there is a sustainable population of these fish upon which businesses can thrive and jobs can be created. In so far as protecting ecosystems promotes economic opportunity, protecting ecosystems is a good thing. Where no tangible benefit exists, though, human needs and imperatives should come first. Sometimes this requires foresight and the ability to act collectively to protect ourselves from consequences we cannot immediately feel.
