These are some of the largest areas and affiliations that are still alive and kicking in the year 2058. While there are many people beyond these places, these are the few that have any loose government structure that lasts more than a couple miles.

These areas are also green zones, with very little radiation.

Angawa Cluster - A group of city states below the Sahara desert stretching from present day Ghana to Cameroon. While not much of a government, people pay a fee to the city head organizations that attempt to keep crime down while they supply water purifiers and the like for use. More or less landlords with guns. While once most of the people were black, flooding refugees have diluted the demographics to a smoky haze.

The SFSN (Svalbard, Finland, Sweden, Norway) - The closest thing to a functioning government, the area of northern Europe was helped by atmospheric ice which brought down a lot of the poorer quality nukes prematurely. While too difficult to hold elections properly, there is a council that elects its new members itself, who care about their regions as much as most politicians. Resources are scarce, but the region has the least looting in most of Europe.

Oceanic Consortium - Run by corporate-like governing bodies, the OC run the island nations in the area between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Mainly using boats, their biggest enemies are pirates, who live on the ocean almost exclusively.

The Catholic Exiles - A mere splinter of the Church's former glory, Vatican 2 resides in an area between Bulgaria and Romania. The most benevolent of the major governments, the CE is almost at its limit to provide for others. While it doesn't turn anyone away, it does watch people closely to ensure resources aren't squandered.

The Technic Mongol - Mongolia was the least hit in a large region of Asia. Most survivors have fled there since. Radiation is the highest here of all the faction areas, and so few people go outside with ample protection - at least, those that do so and live, anyway. Since Japan, Korea, and China had the highest reserves of micro-reactors, they are the most technologically advanced area. There is no government here, but rather a mob-like structure. Gangs large and small rule here, some more decadent and lavish than the rest. Inventors and engineers are useful here, as gangs develop better ways to clean and reuse resources. This is the most likely place to find 'upper class' or wealthy people, or people who dont have to work for a living.

Elizabethan Islands - The far arctic Canada, very little grows here, but it is the largest green zone mass there is. Coal is the most common energy source.
