Okay, so there might be a little confusion on the placement of your roleplay. Or you might be trying to come up with one, so you want to know about the different genres and what they involve. You've come to the right place. In the 2nd post, I have listed each genre and have provided a description as to what that genre is. Hope it helps!

OOC Chat, Profiles and Recruitment:
This is the place to chat out of character, post your character profiles and to recruit people for your roleplay(s). Please don't mistake "chat out of character" for the chatterbox, kay? Don't worry -- you can have your mindless chats and spam fests in the Chatter subforum. ;]

Science Fiction:
Imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in these role plays may very well be imaginative). Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possibilities, such as:
↠ A setting in the future or a historical past that contradicts known facts of history.
↠ A setting in outer space or in other worlds; may contain aliens.
↠ Stories that involve technology or scientific principles that contradict known laws of nature.
↠ Stories that involve discovery or application of new scientific principles, such as: time travel or faster-than-light travel.

Fantasy:
Fantasy is a genre that uses magic and other supernatural forms as a primary element of plot, theme, and/or setting. Many works within the genre take place on fictional planes or planets where magic is common.

Romance:
This is not to be mistaken for the literary-type of romance. The literary-type of romance involves stories about the marvelous adventures of a chivalrous, heroic knight errant, often of super-human ability. This does NOT belong here. You would place that in the Literature subforum. The Romance subforum is meant for roleplays that refer to the attempt to express love with words or deeds, or feelings of excitement associated with love. It usually implies an expression of one's love, or one's deep emotional desires to connect with another person -- especially those of love and compassion.
↠ Please keep all sexual-related roleplays for the Sexual/Master/Slave subforum. However, if your romantic roleplay contains some intimacy, that's fine.

Sexual/Master/Slave: HIGHLY MONITORED SUBFORUM.
This is where you can have your sex-related roleplays. Roleplays that contain mostly-intimate themes should go here, rather than the Romance subforum. This is also the place for Master/Slave roleplays -- NOT cybering. Remember, this is a highly monitored subforum, so please make sure you don't violate the Terms of Service in any way -- every single post in this subforum will be read over by the guild Captains and Moderators. Keep it clean.

Lifestyles:
Includes family settings with friends, family or lifestyles. This can range from roleplaying a family home, to roleplaying an apartment full of friends, or even a hospital roleplay.

Action/Adventure:
Characterised by more emphasis on exciting action sequences than on character development or story-telling. It can also include risky, dangerous or exciting experiences -- often used to refer to activities with some potential for physical danger, such as skydiving, mountain climbing, and extreme sports. It also broadly refers to any enterprise that is potentially fraught with any form of risk, such as a major life undertaking.

Horror:
Intended to scare, unsettle and horrify the audience. Historically, the cause of the "horror" experience has often been the intrusion of a disturbing supernatural element into everyday human experience. Since the 1960s, any work of fiction with a morbid, gruesome, surreal, or exceptionally suspenseful or frightening theme has come to be called "horror."

Comedy:
Any humorous discourse generally intended to amuse -- especially in television, film, and stand-up comedy. The theatrical genre can be simply described as a dramatic performance which pits two societies against each other in an amusing conflict. Much comedy contains variations on the elements of surprise, incongruity, conflict and repetitiveness.

Anime/Manga:
This is for any roleplay based on an anime or manga. It can also involve your own made-up anime or manga. Normally, if your character is an anime or manga character, your roleplay will automatically go here.
↠ (Example: You have an anime character, but the setting and theme of your actual roleplay is a high school. Because your roleplay contains anime characters, it will go in the Anime/Manga subforum. Exception: If you have anime characters in your roleplay but the setting is a type of video game, it can go in the Video Game subforum.)

Video Games:
This is for any roleplay based on a video game. In other words, if the theme and setting for your roleplay is, indeed, a video game, it definitely goes here. And, by video game, we mean any console, such as:
↠ computer games
↠ games for hand-held consoles (Gameboy's, Nintendo DS's, etc...)
↠ games for regular consoles (Playstation, Xbox 360, etc...)

Entertainment:
Specifically for any roleplay that has to do with a form of entertainment. There is already a subforum for Anime/Manga and Video Games, so this would be for roleplays based on the other forms of entertainment, such as:
↠ TV series: roleplays based on a TV series -- not an anime/manga, though.
↠ Movie: roleplays based on a specific movie, or a made-up one.
↠ Music: roleplays based on a band, real or made-up.

Literature:
This is for any roleplays that are based on any piece of literature, whether it's an autobiography or biography, diaries or journals, poetry, essays, narratives, series, saga or novel. There are more, but those are the main ones that are the most popular when it comes to roleplaying.

University/School:
Can be a roleplay centered around a school, university, college, dojo, or any form of educational site that you can come up with. This can involve boarding schools, schools for the gifted, fantasy schools (vampire, werewolf, etc...), fighting schools (dojos) or even military schools. Schools and universities focused on romance of any kind are permitted, but MUST abide by the Terms of Service at all times and never include explicit content or themes.

Commerce:
Involves anything that takes place at a bar, inn, tavern, hangout, or any form of business that you can think of. Others include Inns, Hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, Coffee Shops, Tea Houses, Restaurants, Bowling Alleys, Movie Theaters and/or Malls. This could also include stories based on some sort of business venture.

Historical:
Involves anything that has to do with history or historical events. Some examples would be: peoples' history, periods of time, geographical locations, World history, history of other regions (Africa, Europe, Asia, etc...), military history, social/cultural history and diplomatic history. The most popular seems to be peoples' history, which would include roleplays where your character is a person from history.

Chatter:
This subforum is for, well, everything else. We made it so that you'll have a place to do your senseless and mindless chatter. Feel free to spam as much as you like here!

Trash Heap: CREW ONLY
This subforum is not open to the public. It's for the guild Captains and Moderators only. This is where we will send dead threads, or threads that no longer belong. No thread will be deleted -- instead, it will be sent here.

Crew Only: CREW ONLY
Any subforum that says crew only is, well, only open for guild Captains and Moderators. Sorry!

[Unused Subforum]: CREW ONLY
This refers to a subforum that isn't being used. It has nothing in it and it's not being used for anything. To make sure no posts will be made in them, they have been closed off to the public. Only guild Captains and Moderators can access it.

For roleplays which may crossover a number of subforums:
Use your discretion. What is the focus of the roleplay?

Example: Hogwarts school -- it's suitable for both the University/School and Literature subforum.

↠ If the emphasis is on roleplaying the school activity of Hogwarts, perhaps with original characters, it is better suited for the University/School subforum. If the emphasis is on roleplaying existing characters like Harry and Hermione or continuing the book plot, the Literature subforum is a better choice.

Example: A roleplay about a movie, where the movie was made from, or is based on, a book/novel-- it's suitable for both the Entertainment and Literature subforum.

↠ Just place it using your own discretion. Is your roleplay following the movie more than the actual work of literature? Place it in Entertainment. Is your roleplay following the book rather than the movie? Place it in Literature. The movies that are based on works of literature usually differ in one way or another from the book, so just use your best judgment when it comes to placement.
