These rules will be enforced -- no if's, and's or but's about it. And yes, it might be a lot to read, but oh-so worth it if you read them all. ;]
As said in the roleplaying subforums of Gaia:Quote: As a member, it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the forum's rules before posting. Posting in this forum implies that you read and understand the rules and guidelines and that you accept responsibility for the appropriateness of your thread or post. General rules: 1. Always obey the almighty book of Gaia, otherwise known as the ToS. Find it here. You should also obey the Rules and Guidelines, which can be found here. Why? Well, because Gaia, and we, said so! ;]
2. Respect others, no matter how much you dislike them. There is to be no flaming or trolling here, and it'd do you good to keep it off Gaia, period.
» » • Please watch your language. Occasional cursing is okay, but don't get too casual with it (for the sake of the children and those parents who might be reading over shoulders...).
3. OOC is okay, but try to keep it to a bare minimum in the roleplaying threads. If all you are going to do is OOC, go to the OOC subforum, please. However, that is not the place to place senseless chatter or spam. That's for the Chatter subforum.
4. Be sure that you note where people are before you make a post regarding them. Please refrain from 'runs up to and greets' posts when the person in question is somewhere you can't possibly run to.
» » • Example: You 'runs up to and greets' in an action roleplay during that person's battle. Seriously, how would that even work? They're having a battle and you just run up in there and greet them? No.
5. If you have a problem with something, such as suspicion of a guild crew member abusing the delete/edit post option, then please make your problem known appropriately, such as PMing the appropriate subforum Moderator. Please DO NOT post concerns such as this in the main forum. This applies to comments about others' profiles as well -- that can go in OOC.
6. If you don't like the way something is done here, or written, please make your problem known appropriately, such as PMing the appropriate subforum Moderator, or a guild Captain. If there's nothing we can do or we would rather not go with your request, please refrain from complaining, insulting us or the guild. Your only two options at that point would be to either deal with it or to just leave the guild. While we will try and meet any requests that the guild members have as far as making this a more enjoyable place, we can't make everyone happy.

1. Please refrain from huge images when posting an appearance. In fact, here is what the Rules and Guidelines of Gaia say about image posting:Quote: 1. Signatures: Please keep signatures less than 500 pixels in size in both width and height, and a total byte-size of less than 100,000 Bytes. Your ability to post signatures may be removed if you do not comply with this standard. 2. Mature material: Any material that is sexually explicit or pornographic, or depicts excessive violence or gore is not permitted. Tasteful nudity in the art forums is allowed on a case-by-case basis, but on the whole, it is a good idea to cater to a range of audiences. Keep in mind that some members may be as young as 13. 3. Harmful Images: Certain types of graphic images may contribute to or otherwise cause viewers to experience an adverse physical reaction, such as migraine headaches or seizures, and are not permitted. Should your post or signature contain such an image, it may be removed. 4. Copyright Violation: Posting images that you do not have the rights to may be treated as copyright infringement or art theft if the owner of the image makes a complaint. Claiming art that you did not create yourself, either in the art arena or on the forums, as your own work will be treated as art theft, which can result in legal prosecution in real life. Attempting to use stolen art for profit is considered to be scamming. Additionally, art that you have made yourself, but that was heavily copied or traced from the work of others, or includes images or graphics you did not make yourself, may also be treated as art theft. 2. Posting style guidelines: Please follow, or at least keep in mind, the following:Quote: » » • 'Say' -- Use for regular everyday actions and whatnot. » » • 'Think' -- Use for when your character is deep in thought or alone. » » • 'Shout' -- best used to accentuate the mood of a post. Keep loud actions and sayings for Shout. » » • 'Whisper' -- best used to accentuate the mood of a post. Keep soft actions and sayings for Whisper. » » • 'Document' -- for announcements and whatnot. However, please do not use it in the roleplays. » » • 'Ornate' -- combat-related posts, flashback/memory posts, big introduction or exit post, etc... 3. Information on symbol usages: Examples have been provided; the same example is used each time.Quote: » » • Double parentheses: an out of character (OOC) comment in a roleplay. Example ((Hey there! Have you been here long?)) » » • Quotations: Used for plain speech. English only, please. Example "Hey there! Have you been here long?" » » • Dash/Quotation: Translated speech from another language -- unless your character knows that language, or the language used is the 'Natural Language'. You will only know what is meant out of character (OOC), but this will help you with an idea of the inflection used by their character in-character (IC). Example -"Hey there! Have you been there long?"- » » • Dash/Equal/Quotation: Thought speak -- a message sent directly from one character's mind to another. Only addressed characters will 'hear' the message in-character (IC). Example -="Hey there! Have you been there long?"=- » » • Please avoid posts with low to no content. In this guild, we're trying to promote literacy and bigger and better roleplaying. We can't do that if people respond to a roleplay with just one sentence, as seen in the example below. When you roleplay, please shoot for at least 3-5 good-sized sentences. What NOT To Do *I appear out of nowhere* "Hi!" 3. Diceroll and random number are cool and all, but please don't overuse them. Diceroll has D&D-style applications for battle (higher number wins), but that would be decided upon by the involved fighters. It would make it a bit more interesting, if you ask us.

Generally, there is a list of things that role players ought not to be. It's hard to quit doing these things after you've been doing them for a long time -- kind of like breaking a bad habit. We have them listed here so that you can start teaching yourself to avoid them -- yes, we know it's hard. It'll take practice. And we understand. Don't worry, its not like you're going to be banned or anything. ;]Quote: » » • Aimbotters: Those who never miss a single shot no matter how difficult it is. » » • God-modders: Those who can't be hit or just shrug it off. » » • Twinks: Those who have absurdly strong powers. » » • Min-maxers: Those who 'balance' their characters by having a massive but irrelevant weakness and massive powers. » » • Miss Cleos: Those who use out of character knowledge to get an edge. » » • McFlys: Those who do things in hindsight. » » • Puppetmasters: Those who RP other people's characters for them. » » • Daydreamers: Those who RP completely irrelevant things. » » • Shoe elves: Those who RP actions and time against others while the others aren't present. » » • Revisionists: Those who ignore or alter RP's of those they don't like. » » • Speed-hackers: Those who RP an absurdly time consuming sequence occurring between other people's actions. » » • Oxymorons: Those who play as characters that are completely impossible. » » • Baghdad Bobbits: Those who arbitrarily declare themselves the winner with instant death attacks. » » • Gaseous snakes: Those who've taken actions before they start RPing. » » • Zoicite: Those who alter their character as needed for the situation. » » • Trinities: Those who gain abilities as they need them with no prior exposure. » » • Quakers: Those who pick-up things that spawn from seemingly nowhere.
