"Oh... Hooray? I MEAN, I'm sure it'll be great, Kayla." Sam said as she pulled her last layer back on, and hefted up the last few bags, and followed Kayla through the building to the main room. Reaper lay sleeping on a couch that was pushed into a corner. Apparently it was easily defensible. Although from what, Sam had no idea, due to the fact that the entire building was boarded and locked tight against any Acid that tried to enter. Beside that, how on earth was a COUCH easily defensible?
"So, what have you guys been doing for the.. oh" Here, Sam glanced at position of the sun before shaking her head in confusion. "Well.. the hours I was gone. never can understand that damn thing. Honestly. Maybe I should get reaper to teach me about that thing next. Speaking of Reaper, how is the Stasis coming, and how are his injuries?"

Reaper woke up to the usual slight of the ceiling of the small apartment room. A poster for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was above him. He stared at it for a few minutes like he always did as he worked his strength back up. He grunted slightly as he rolled off the couch and onto the floor. he then immediately began doing his usual 250 pushups which were then followed by 300 situps. He would then stand up and and use the plumbing pipe hanging from the ceiling to do 250 chinups, preceding his 200 jumping jacks. Even though Kayla always tried to keep him in the bed he has been doing this for the last two weeks whenever she wasn't around. She was always too lost in her work to notice. He had worked out most of the injuries quite a while back, but she made him stay in bed though. He remembered how much he hated this back in Black Ops when he had to stay in the medical ward for weeks after a bad injury on a mission. No matter. He kept himself in shape, and taught the girls more practical skills that they didn't seem to know, while Kayla kept him on her Stasis serums. Kayla may have had brains, but she lacked some other skills such as cooking. Though he was trying to fix that. Which is weird since he still remembered how they had agreed on him cooking. Sam had heart, and he liked that, but she did miss quite a bit of technical training. Her shooting was quite terrible before, but he finely drilled good shooting habits into her. He was also starting to understand the Stasis that Kayla gave him, since he had started asking her about it. So in his limited movement form he had learned much. All in all, them staying here wasn't too bad. He was pretty sure he would be in ready-for-mission status in a few days, since he was sure that he was ready two days ago. Kayla and her worrying. Sam's expeditions always worried him some, but he was pretty sure that she would be fine. It was Kayla who worried about everyone the most. He usually tried to lighten the mood since he was the only one not really doing a whole lot. This was weird since he was usually the quiet one in his team.
He heard Sam return from her latest scavenge downstairs, along with Kayla going to meet her. They came into the room with him in it as he quickly got back on the couch, and did his usual faking he was asleep. The girls were terrible at noticing his charade. He listened quietely as they talked. He grinned slightly as he thought it was time to "wake up".
Reaper leaned up as he looked over at the two girls. "Hey there ladies. How did the scavenging go, Sam? I'm assuming nothing went wrong since you are still here, and Kayla isn't panicing over any wounds or infections." He said sarcastically as he rolls his shoulders; acting as if he was just waking up. He has been faking them with this for three weeks. That was not exactly good vililant skills. Then again he was trained to do this.

Sam smiled lightly. Reaper always thought he was so ninja with his "fake sleeping". Little did he know that he faked waking up much differently than he really woke up. Sam knew this because of way back when they first entered the building that got Reaper injured. However, Sam would never call Reaper on it. He thought it did the girls good to not know how he worked himself, however Sam knew. She didn't know if Kayla did, but Sam knew. Everytime she saw him roll his shoulders when he "woke up" she knew he had been working himself, so as to maintain his strong, combat ready physique.
"Scavenging went very well today, actually. I found this huge department store that appears to be empty. I didn't spend super long there, only enough time to grab what I needed and get out, but eventually, I'm going to sweep the building and make sure it's safe. No, I didn't get bitten, or burned, so all is well there. However, I think we should find a way to protect the way to Our Place better. An Acid came running for me down the alley today. I don't think it's safe to leave it unguarded anymore. What if the alley is full the next time I need to go out? It's the safest and easiest way in and out, so it should be better guarded. What do you guys think?"

Kayla smiled at Reaper as he woke up. He was looking much better than he had in the past few weeks, and looked as if he might even be ready to start working out again soon. She had a feeling that her work on the Stasis had been helping to speed up the healing process because he had been on his feet far too quickly. Not even his combat training could help to speed that up. She knew he was probably feeling even better than he let on, however, she was incredibly grateful that he let her coddle him at times. If she didn't know any better, Kayla would think that Reaper knew that it made her feel like she was actually helping.
Kayla listened quietly as Sam discussed her trip. The department store sounded like a small slice of heaven, and Kayla found herself curious to go check it out; she had not seen much of the outside world in the past few weeks. That of course, was not including her frequent trips to the roof to watch the sun rise and set; god did she miss television.
"Protect the alley...not a bad idea. What if we move a vehicle to cover the entrance? Then you can climb over or through it when the coast is clear?

Sam thought about the car idea slowly, musing it over in her mind. There were a few pros to the idea, but a great number of cons.
"Not a bad idea... But that brings the problem of getting it there. You and I aren't strong enough to push it, and starting it up and driving it into place would draw a lot of Acids to us, which we are trying to avoid. Even with Reaper's help when he is strong enough again, it would take a while to get it into place. And there comes another issue. When it is in place, the Acids could climb over or under it, if they were smart enough. I mean, I have seen a few Acids pulling themselves out from under cars while I'm out. It could work... it would just be crazy dangerous. I was thinking more along the lines of a... fence or something. Maybe building one in parts while we are in here, and taking parts out at a slow Acid Time? You know, build it slowly, piece by piece until the alley is safe. That way you too can get some outside time every now and again too. What do you think?"

((Did this RP die again already. Sorry I haven't been posting, but Band Camp was tiring. But I'm done with that, so we can continue if everyone still wants to. xp ))
Reaper watched the two carefully as they discussed the idea of a barricade. He could tell from Sam's expression that she could see through his charade. She was a little more keen that Kayla was. Oh well, since it was more Kayla's benefit. He knew she liked being able to baby him, so he let her. But back to the subject. Reaper sadly knew from all of the recon he has done on the acids that even a fence wouldn't do much. They would either climb it, or they would eventually just tear through it. The acids still seem to maintain problem-solving skills and logic. They have lost higher reasoning, empathy, speech, and pain signals; but they maintain motor skills and most other brain functions. At least until the infection completely consumes their entire body. Reaper's best idea was that they had spent too much time here, and they needed to move on to a new location. Perhaps go ahead and continue on toward their original objective. The acids may not be the brightest, but they would eventually find their hideout. From there it would only be a matter of time before they were overrun or they ran out of supplies. The acids were a strategist's dream army. They would be the perfect force for a war of attrition. The Acids didn't need any kind of resources. They could simply surround any enemy units, and cut them off from resupply, which would force them to surrender or let them run out of supplies. This thought actually made Reaper wonder if the Acids could be trained. That was a mad thought, but still... It would have to be for latter. Right now they needed a quick solution. "I say we go ahead and move on toward the target. It's only a battle against time before the acids find us. I'm capable of movement and combat now, so we might as well. At the least we need to find a better position. You girls found a rather decent place here, but I thought I would keep quiet about all the defence problems we have here. This wouldn't have been my first choice, and now that I'm operational again we should move on to a better base of operations." He advises calmly to the two ladies. The situation can only get worse if they stay here. He walks over to his chest of goodies and begins taking stock of what all he has as he waits for there reply. Kayla and Sam may have used some of his supplies while he was out of commision, and he needed to check his rations.

Sam sighed sadly. She knew that Reaper was right, for she herself had been contemplating the same thing. She was hopeful that they could do something to retain their new home, but it wasn't to be. It was almost impossible to have a permanent residence in these times. The one who had been able to do it was Priest, and they didn't even know if that had moved or not. It probably hadn't if only because of the power Priest seemed to have. His pet Acid, Butler, was evidence enough of that. when Kayla had explained it, Sam was shocked. Later, however, when she thought about it, she supposed it made sense. Priest had the research on the Acids - the cure, the disease, and on the Acids themselves, from the original test subjects. it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to imagine that he had created some sort of device that affected the disease in the body. She had yet to approach either Kayla or reaper about this but she figured she should before they went on their mission. They never knew if Priest had the control to set the Acids on them.
"I guess. I knew it was a long stretch to hope to stay here for too long, but you can't help it right? We do have to go on that mission, and we should find a safe place, but this has become home, you know? If we are gonna move, we should do it between 11am and 1pm. The Geeks are usually hiding in buildings or in shade around then, I've noticed. I think it's because of the heat, right, 'cause heat does speed decomposition... Or, I guess it would be that it was speeding the rotting of their wounds, since they are still alive.. They also aren't that active with the rain. I'm not too sure why on that one."
Sam glanced at the others, uncertain of herself. She didn't really understand much of the scientific nature of the Acids, but she had been around them a lot more than they had recently. Sam was seeing the latest stages of the disease that neither Reaper, nor Kayla had been around. She was walking, running, and dodging through it day by day, watching as body parts started faltering, then eventually tearing away. The bodies were decaying, there was no doubt about that. Muscles lost there strength, and started to tear apart easier. It seemed as if the minds were losing control of the bodies that they inhabited. Just today, while she was inside the department store, she had seen a Geek stumble past slowly and haltingly before falling and crawling along using its arms. Its legs had dragged uselessly behind itself, not even twitching - like it had lost all functions in them.
With what Sam had witnessed and the other walkers she had seen that had non functioning body parts, she felt that if they found a place that was safe, isolated and well secured, they would be able to wait out the disease. Sam figured that eventually, the Acids would completely wear out their bodies. When that happened, the surviving humans could walk through, and kill the Acids, or maybe even wait a little longer until the brains finally gave out.
